  1. Not literally one shot no, but I'll be either having a fight already or just observing a point to keep it locked down and suddenly bam, Mirage out of thin air and I'm suddenly confused, tormented, burnt, and bled. Using skills to clean the condis hurts you because of confusion (and that can be a hefty 2k chunk on top of the 1.5-2k chunk from the other condis), moving will kill you further (except using up precious dodges) AND you're being shot at by each clone. On top of that you can't fight back, because even if you find the real mesmer they're either evading, stealthing up again or straight up invulnerable. A good mirage can easily deliver a 10k dump of damage as soon as they appear via condis and direct hits combined, AND daze you for a good 3-4 seconds. I've specifically bulked up both my Ele and my Deadeye (2.4k armor on the ele with 17k HP, 13k HP on the deadeye with 2.2k armor off the top of my head) and they still go down like they weren't even there. Again, you need to be a bunker build to survive an ambush like that regularly and long enough that you can even attempt to retaliate. Cute. I wish. Ask any deadeye how much trouble they have hitting mirages. They're essentially a non-target. Melee professions in general can't do it unless they're guardians or warriors with a lot of AoE. To be clear this is not a problem with mesmers or chronomancers. This is a problem specifically with Mirage.
  2. You lot all realise most mesmer builds can kill single targets near instantly right? The reaction time of any person trying to find the real one AND being able to deliver all that damage to kill it is impossible between all of the stealth and dodges and mirage cloaks that cause obscenely long invulns and evades. You also have to specifically build to purge all of the conditions in time before it takes chunks out of you. The only ones that can survive it are the tankier ones, such as scrappers, firebrands, holosmiths and warriors. No other profession has a chance. The problem was never finding the real one, it was always never having the chance to find the real one. You make better thieves than thieves do.
  3. Just a shame there's no way to communicate that they really need to take a good look at the engine one of these days if the game is to continue into 2020 and beyond. I'm not even talking just for macOS, but for Windows (and Linux under dxvk) as well. The limitations on how smooth Guild Wars 2 is to play is down to both its poor use of multiple cores (which one of the devs talked about there being some slow efforts to split things off of the main thread, single core speed shouldn't be relevant to games or applications nowadays, not nearly on the level GW2 is.) and its seriously old APIs. Even WoW pulled off moving to DX11 and DX12. d9vk and d912pxy(?) exist for windows. Wouldn't it be easier to turn attention to the engine, perhaps fix some things like the build templates debacle (which involved how messed up the inventory system is, apparently?), get some people in to work on writing a Vulkan pipeline (and look at valve's use of MoltenVK to get a Vulkan-to-Metal2 layer for macOS) for the rendering thread and split some more processes to do with loading in assets off the main thread to take proper use out of people's systems. There are people out there with NVMe SSDs and completely new Radeon RX 5700 XTs getting less performance than decade old computers for crying out loud. I should not have to have an i9-9900K overclocked just to pump enough single thread speed to run GW2 at 60FPS locked at 1080p, that's absurd. EDIT: For those it may help on macOS. KEEP YOUR SHADERS SETTING ON LOW. This is the only setting I've found that actually has a performance impact under macOS, the others have superficial impacts at best. It makes sense, asking OpenGL to do less work would drastically increase the speed to render, and so would brute forcing it with an obscenely strong graphics card (I'm looking to get a Vega 56). I've also found I kinda like the look better without the overly bright white edge lighting they have going on.
  4. Before fiddling around with system settings try finding where Guild Wars 2 is in the Applications folder in Finder and right-clicking and clicking "Open". On Mojave this semi-bypassed Gatekeeper default settings, perhaps its the same on Catalina?
  5. Does anyone else have awful stuttering and pop-in trying to play this game? Some later areas in the game such as the Crystal Desert are nearly (but not actually) unplayable because of the sheer time it takes for the game to catch up and load things in. For some reason choosing different graphical settings doesn't affect it one bit. My system is:Mac Pro 5,1macOS Mojave 10.14.6Intel Xeon W3690 @ 3.46GHz (+Boost)24GB ECC DDR3 RAM @ 1333MHzAMD Radeon RX 480 4GB VRAMGW2 is installed on: ADATA XPG 500GB NVMe stick (Installed in a PCI-E x4 slot) Going from an SATA 3 SSD to an NVMe card didn't help it one bit. Character or environment settings set high or low, it's like its not even trying to use all of the RAM available. or VRAM, or even the full throughput of the NVMe card. Resolution or closing other apps doesn't affect it either, it's been like this for months. It might also be a side effect of the single-threaded / single-core game engine, but I can only get 17 or less FPS in crowded areas when its like this, but its capable of going 30-60 as soon as I turn the camera away.
  6. Holy... I wasn't expecting solid advice on the game's forum but this is really good stuff. You're absolutely right, I overlooked stunbreaking and the amount of "passive" (auto-on-attune) condition cleanses I could have to replace Cleansing Fire. I'm gonna sit down tonight and try these adjustments, many thanks Juno! Old but gold. Good watch.
  7. But whatever, I'm posting it anyway:en.gw2skills.net/editor/?PGiAgilZw4YgsR2JOMPZpaA-zRhULRQUFmY0AuBXIsxRkAlWAaOA-eDagger/Dagger, Fire, Water, Earth with heavy use of Conjuration. I'm using it in both open world PvE (Just walking around and Living World stories, no big deal) and sPvP. If you have any ideas how to make this a bit better, go ahead, but this came up while finding what's the most comfortable way for me to play Ele. I've tried Weaver, I love the mobility, but I guess I tend to think in more using skills to deal with situations than endless evasion and movement. The main crux of this setup is to use Pyromancer's Puissance to build might, and build it, and build it. Conjures give access to more powerful skills while allowing completely free attunement to the rest. Fire for might building and extra power, water for a quick heal, air for mobility (if no Conjure in hand, mainly for Ride the Lightning) and Earth is pretty much just solely used for the interrupt on Dagger 4. It takes a little bit of inspiration from Cellofrag's weaver guide to get the stat layout in place.(Jesus Celestial is a pain in the rear to craft. 30 Charged Quartz? Are you -kitten- me?)
  8. macOS port, settings attached.Race: CharrGender: FemaleProfession: Elementalist There appears to be a hole in the model's waist when using the Conjurer Chest and Student Leggings. Unknown if its a combination of these items or one or the other causing the disconnect in vertices.https://imgur.com/mZh62Zhhttps://imgur.com/RrFuFUS
