  1. Timer is part of the CM, its there to stop people from bringing 10 full Nomad geared people that can afk through 90% of the mechanics.
  2. yeah like idk why everything has to be so sterile these days. let people try and fail and do things, and learn to organize etc.
  3. love the people going through each comment to confused react like its their job. guys its just 1 objective that you can skip, and its a good thing to use the game's incentive system to encourage people to do content - especially if the population of players doing that content is still growing
  4. such a well thought post, but i am going to have to confused react sorry because 'blue class' or whatever
  5. Dont nerf rev gs lol just dont make Elevated Compassion concentration bonus so cracked. Pure power dps rev is barely relevant
  6. I hate that anet is literally forcing me to delete my char with 6 legendary runes and stealing my money. Unfair!
  7. >Game has already considerable powercreep thanks to these boons. This is most noticeable in strikes or even some OW meta events (e.g. Dragon's Stand). Ok knowing that devs do not or cannot do much to handle current powercreep, your solution is to just give up and add more with baseline boons. >As boon dps you are already playing dps while providing boons off cooldown, the way this is implemented is also very often not exactly fun/interactive to play This is a matter of designing these specs to be more interactive - which they are making an active effort in the coming patch. >Boons themselves also promote this mindless stacking in order to effectively provide boons/heals for every person, certain mechanics can be pretty much ignored thanks to this and everyone just performs his perfect rotation. This might sound fun to you, but I find it literally opposite of what GW2 combat is about. There has never been a time where gw2 was not about stacking. Even before quickness and alac were proper boons you stacked - cuz your heals are in aoe around you, you wanted to stack behind corners to LoS enemies and have them pile up nicely, melee weapons were designed to be stronger than ranged pre HoT in general, you would need to be near allies to rez them and you still had boons such as might and fury that was again shared aoe around you. But please tell me otherwise what gw2 combat was about before quick and alac. >People are already screeching in a bloody IBS strikes if you don't have quickness and alacrity covered. This whole boon fiesta is also seeping into OW as well, very few people wants to organize group for Dragons End if the quick/alac is not covered at least partially, simply because of risk of failure. If the devs literally state that game feels bad to play without these boons and they are actively balancing the professions around these two boons, your argument is ultimately invalid if the devs themselves wants us to play their content with these boons. I dont see anything surprising with people being accustomed to something and shaping their groups and gameplay around this. You really think if alac and quick was removed something else would not be demanded? People would not have things that they cant play without? People would not find anything else to complain? This is just an imagined problem imo.
  8. I feel like 0 thought is put behind most suggestions here. Like lets take the 'make quick and alac baseline' suggestion. Let us assume that devs will be able to handle the MASSIVE increase in powercreep that follows, and also manages to not totally kill the previous specs/builds that gave these boons so they play as dps or something. You would be reducing the number of non-dps roles in each sub by only 1, cuz healers in each subgroup will likely still be popular. You would not be helping comp diversity at all. By making these boons baseline, you also reduce gameplay complexity a fair bit as it is not a given that a boon support will be able to perfectly maintain their boons in actual scenarios. GG If you don't like alac or quick roles in your squad, and feel others have the same sentiment, make your own group instead of trying to overhaul the game with no regard to feasibility and the dev effort required or making gw2 a copy of whatever game you migrated from.
  9. Imagine comparing class balance to systematic racism Delete this post and touch not just some grass but an entire forest please
  10. Herald is pog, 39k estimated bench post patch It doesnt help that every spec that was listed above is currently dunking on Reaper, while not being necessarily any less survivable
  11. idk why this thread is getting so much traction anyway, decimate defenses and valkyrie combo isnt novel to begin with. doubt op spent half as much time making/testing this build as some people have writing their comments here my bait senses are tingling
  12. tbh like apart from the mismatch between the goal of being able to tank hits and relying on Scholar etc., it could still pass off as a training or casual build i guess but then again some other specs have damage mitigation/avoidance and sustain literally free and dont need to bend over backwards like this, so idk
  13. The dps is very reductive term as far as HT CM is concerned. The dps in HT CM fall into 3 categories: Boss DPS which is 'pure' dps, Blink DPS to handle greens intermittently, and Portal DPS to help people get back from the greens etc. We cant just pile all of them together as 'dps', or it loses the nuance. Similarly, we cant just pile Boon DPS with 'regular' DPS, as they have different priorities - regardless of the encounter the Boon DPS (e.g. QFB) should have maintaining its boon as the priority (and this is not trivial, especially if the content is difficult) and maximizing personal dps as second, while 'regular' DPS would almost always have dps as its main and generally only priority, excluding CC. In HT CM in particular even the QFB is made distinct from the DPS in where they are positioned and their responsibility to take Stability etc. It is an encounter loaded with mechanics and specialized roles. I am sorry that I was sarcastic but your comment just wrote off every bit of nuance in this encounter, and it still does.
  14. >Let's look at the Harvest Temple CM. Yes, there are mechanics. Yes, it is an incredible encounter. But the main thing that makes it hard is, to my understanding, the strict dps check (I hope I am not wrong about that :D). That's what makes the encounter truly hard. Which means... you will want to stack as many dps in the group as you can. Again. Could you please not give examples about stuff you have not even tried once, let alone looked at a guide for? There are tons of mechanics one needs to handle in this fight before even thinking about dps. Its difficult because of all the stuff you need to handle while dpsing the boss down, well that and the bugs The 'dps' you stack in this boss is not just 'dps' and most have specialized roles. Facepalm on that for a moment will you?
  15. Virtuoso is also very survivable though, they have blocks and Distortion for days. Mirage has skills that forcibly move you (potentially to danger) and its Distortion is bit more costly than Virtuoso's as clone generation is slower in Mirage and you depend on clones using Ambush to do higher dps So really you are also good with Virtuoso
  16. The last boss is much easier if your group has higher dps. Most of the mechanics in last boss can be absolutely destroyed and/or trivialized if you pump. The rest, like burden, spread, meteor, just needs you to be bit attentive. For normal mode if you are struggling I recommend a cfb or condi spec with access to reflects to reflect the projectiles fire elementals shoot at the group (the part leading to fire cat boss). Reflected projectiles spawn friendly fire elementals that apply Burn with their attacks and they last until the player who used the reflects die, and they will follow the player to last boss. I believe their Burning scales with player stats etc. so this can literally carry your group. Edit: Didnt realize OP was talking about t1 and not t4. Ignore what I said about elemental cheese, the issue is 100% a fundamental lack of understanding of mechanics, idk if its even possible to wipe in t1 if everyone has atleast some passable knowledge
  17. Yeah if you have the raid on farm sure you dont speak as much fair enough, but if you are a player getting into the raids (the demographic we are talking about) then its a much more different experience I would say.
  18. >OW metas have the same group aspect Really? Excluding DE, when was the last time you interacted or coordinated with others in an open world squad in a meaningful way? Like you can go through most OW metas without ever talking or interacting with anyone. I find it hard to compare OW zergs with raid groups that are much more intimate
  19. I just dont believe the line of thought along the lines of 'people dont do raids cuz they are bad' or 'people dont do raids cuz they are too hard'. Sure some raids are harder than others but come on, there are so many training guilds, lfgs and discords out there, we have so many guides and resources, we have Emboldened mode and specs that are very flexible and effective in their playstyle. I would say people just dont raid cuz they dont like the grouping aspect or prefer to be solo somehow, or they just dont want to spend some time to learn mechanics
