  1. At doing comparable damage to other classes with 5x the effort.
  2. Because these already have other, more popular weapons that ele doesn't have, like greatsword. Pistol fits the duelist theme of the mesmer, and necro already has greatsword, which is cool. None of these 2 would be thematically aesthethic with a longbow or a shortbow, but an ele is, because of the arcane archer archetype and how ice, fire, shock and earth arrows are already familiar with most of the high fantasy fans. At the end though, pistol might be cool if we finally get a proper, competitive ranged option for ele. The only reason I (and i guess most people) want a longbow on an ele is because we lack any good ranged options, staff has been sitting in the dumpster ever since HoT's meteor shower nerf, and scepter is alright I guess but I kinda see it pseudo-ranged.

  4. I see that sand shade durations is so inconveniently short now, I think it was 20 secs before? Now they expire before a rotation lol, feels like a pain keeping them up. How do you guys play now, with this 8 second duration? Do you spam 3 of them every 8 seconds or just place 1? I feel like it takes way too much time managing these things now, barely have any time to use other skills.

  17. 1- no finishers on a class (hammer) that seems to be field-comboing oriented 2- fields/combo finishers are a mechanic that every class have. Why do you feel the need to dedicate an entire "elite" spec gameplay on a mechanic that we've had since day 1? 3- hammer skills are weak, slow and clunky. Fire and air, which are supposed to be the DPS options, are actually really bad, the only decent skill is the tornado on air 4- no real incentive to collect all 4 elemental spheres with skill 3. The damage isn't that great, and the duration is too low 5- utilities are super bad. 6- field changes as you change elements, limiting you to play a jack of all trades characters when you want to simply fill a role like dps/heal. 7- energy mechanic is punishing, doesn't feel that you're getting anything valuable in return for all the hassle you go thru to fil lenergy. Also depletes too fast. suggestions: 1- more blast finishers for hammer, at least one on each element 2- increase size of fields at least twice or make them movable, make it 10 man effective. Make traits that empower your combo finishers, like: blast finishing fire also does extra damage to enemies, water extra healing/boons, air superspeed etc. If you wanna dedicate a spec to combo finishing, at least make it THE KING of combo finishing, give it something that nobody else has, "EMPOWERED FINISHERS". Rework traits so they empower your jade sphere wells isntead of your own DPS. 3- hasten up hammer skills by cutting cast time at least in half for most of the skills and swap ranged/melee element roles (make fire/air melee and harder hittingm and water/earth ranged and more defensive). 4- rotating sphere finisher needs damage up BY A LOT, or extend sphere rotating duration by switching elements, so you can keep indfefinitely 5- rework utilities, don't make them limited by tying them to their respective elemental sphere 6- give a choice for players to stick to the sphere you casted first, maybe a trait 7- do not make it so you lose all remaining energy if you recall sphere if cata is left as it is right now, tehre's no incentive to play it, there's nothing it can do/bring to the table that any other ele spec can't do better: weaver is better at sustain and DPS, tempest is better at healing and supporting party with boons/auras. Even core ele with evasive arcana might be better -
  18. The problem with meteor it's not that it is wide, it's that they nerfed it so each subsequent hit's damage of a single target is decreased. Back on the day it was awesome, it WAS the nuke of the game, and said nuke was at the hands of the squishiest, most vulnerable class (11k HP with berserker's). Also you could cast lava fonts back to back for constant DPS. But they nerfed it because people QQed ele was doing too much damage and because anet bases their nerfs on stationary golem numbers. Now, with the numbers we are seeing in ridiculous kitten like dragon trigger and firebrand, i don't see why they can't bring it back.
  19. The demonstration showed us that when you drop a well, it changes as you change elements. That's really bad because if you wanna do a DPS rotation, you most likely will want to drop an air well for the quickness, but then it changes as you change elements... let's say you go to fire for that hammer 4 aoe explosion... what benefit are you gonna get for 3 seconds you were on fire... 3 might? Or if you go some kind of healer spec, you put down water well and expect to blast it with all your other finishers throughout your elements, but nope, it changes. I get you devs wanna encourage people to switch thru elements, but please make the well you placed be the element you used permanently, or at least give us the option. The wells themselves are fantastic, but only if you put them permanently (and that would mean sticking to one element). If your wells is changing every 3 secs with your attunement, there's hardly any advantage to these..
  20. they just need to make the f5 well not switch when switching elements... most people will want to drop air well for quickness and then do a dps rotation... or perhaps a water well if you go some kind of healer build... but the well keeps changing as you cycle thru elements... what advantage are you gonna get from them if you switch from element to element and you get... 1 might for the second you were in fire mode?
  21. I like the the wells, I just hope they don't do some basic shiz like: "Fire well: increase you and your allies power by 200 while standing inside." I dislike the melee focus. Ele hasn't had a viable ranged spec ever since staff got nerfed, back in HoT, that's like, more than 5 years. It was the perfect time to give ele another ranged option, a longbow would have been amazing like everyone says. Could very well have made hammer ranged like revenant's (which is kind of an irony, the heavy armored class has the ranged hammer, while the squishy caster has the melee one LOL). We'll see how it plays, we might be surprised. I just really wish Anet would listen to their players more, but they keep doing the opposite of what people want. Not sure if they even read these forums and all the amazing feedback players give.
  22. Recycle Wars 2. I saw Ranger's GS block, Reaper's Gravedigger and Death spiral. Who knows what else is recycled. Jesus christo who do we have to succ to get new, unique animations? If it means bumping another $15 bucks on the expansion price by all means just kittening do it ANET.
