  1. This is something that I can't seem to get my head around. The idea that this will cause players to quite the game in rage and protest because they are required to play a game mode, which again, win or lose it counts towards progress, is such a hyperbole. Anet isn't punishing you for losing, or even attempting a game mode out of your comfort zone. They are simply encouraging every player to go through all activities of fair entry points. Another perspective, unless if I am wrong and there is an alternative, PvP players are required to go out of their zone for a much farther reach. Where PvE players are required to play a few games, PvP players are required to do almost all kind of PvE content. Could it have been made to suit both PvE and PvP players in their own respective tracks? Maybe, but personally, I think it's way to dramatized, and the system at hand is very fair. However, this isn't really the point of this point you brought up, so I digress. Overall, a cape, a single cosmetic item, is put behind all easy to enter activities throughout the game. It Is very much so doable and I highly doubt majority of players find this as worth leaving the game over. Anet isn't punishing you, they're encouraging you.
  2. Don't worry, the community does not expect you to have the infinite wisdom of the hidden depth within dungeons. Simply go to the LFG system in-game and advertise your own group, while stating that you are new to said dungeon. Most if not all players that join will help you, or even be new themselves and want to join the ride! Seriously, I know there's this impression that people expect you to know all the tactics, but its YOUR group, you started it, you make the rules. Go out there, set up a group, make some friends while your at it, and happy dungeoning. Good luck!
  3. Anet wants to encourage all players to delve into all sorts of different content of flexibility with this achievement path. I think it's pretty fair what it asks for, considering most of the requirements are PvE oriented. I feel like there's this area of belief which players think they require a huge array of knowledge to do PvP content. You don't. The game is very much so filled with plenty of players that will guide you and help you if you are willing to listen, so why not ask? And the best part, is that it requires you to COMPLETE games, not win them. There is no negative reinforcement other than maybe seeing "Your team lost", but you still get credit for the achievement. It's ok to lose. This is a game, we are all having fun. You can too. And who knows, maybe you'll actually enjoy the content which you so dread. However if not, that's ok too.
  4. I believe the argument that we CAN earn all these types of skins with gold to gems miss the point of posts like these. Yes, thankfully there is a way to get everything on the gem-store from gold, however It feels like some people lack the perspective from where other players are coming from. The idea of earning a skin, regardless of armor, mount, weapon, etc etc, is not for the sole purpose of visuals and flare of said skin, it's the accomplishment and journey. There are players that enjoy doing content when they know they might get something cool to show off for doing said content. Simply grinding gold and getting whatever skin you want defeats that purpose. Because that skin is perceived by others as A. Bought with real money or B. Bought with Gold. It doesn't carry a story or character behind it, like a title would. Yes some players enjoy having bragging rights. Just like when we brag about making a legendary in /map chat. And just as others brag about their gemstore items. Now to answer some arguments, Anet needs to make money somehow: Yes, it's a live game model, revenues must be met. However, in my opinion, I think Anet could still be in the clear by including a couple of mount skins with EXPANSIONS. Yes, a paid addition to the game. Revenue is made, so where is the harm for including a skin or two with the expansion, or a later update patch that requires the expansion. Of course they can still sell gemstore skins, but having one or two would really be fair I think, considering it would drop from paid content. Some people don't want to grind: Fair enough, play like you want to play, but so what? Why cant some players get specific reward goals? Just as the game allows for a specific audience to be able to grind gold, convert and buy gemstore skins, why cant another specific audience be allowed a sliver of accommodation? Just like certain titles are locked behind harder content for a specific audience, can it not also be made the same for this example? Grinding like other MMOs is daunting and soul-gutting: Agreed, the drop table for loot in certain MMOs are not for the feint of heart, but why are we assuming that to be the default? Can Anet not make design choices which diverge from that? Example being, either higher % drops, or currency drops to buy the loot from a vendor eventually if by chance it doesn't drop naturally. Another point to add, by having interesting skins added to the loot table, you will increase player size into specific activities that might seem a bit dead, which helps newer players find groups to do content with, where they might not, and also make sure that said content stays alive. This is just my perspective however, I am not admitting that I understand the ins and outs of the system, however I do like to discuss, and this is my discussion point 😄
  5. I play when I am bored. I am very picky so I have a select games in my desktop that I alter through... alot.. help.No but jokes aside, I think the Living world is what brings me back, and through that I find other goals to accomplish, so its sort of a spiral effect.
  6. Sure, you could say that was the point but the backlash made everything look worse on paper.
  7. Replayability. Give me a reason to go out and do content, open world and engage with others. Rewards need a rework, and not piles of salvage galore sessions. I mean part of it is good for crafting, but the other part?
  8. Yeah, 2k and ea releasing full on casinos and lootbox based economies in their games is completely fine and acceptable, its the pesky ppl that suffer from addiction that shouldnt buy those things. Exactly. "Judges Heavily"
  9. I would gladly pay for expansions that offer me rewards and challenges.Achievements, skin hunting, etc, is where the sense of accomplishments stem from, and not going on the gemstore to throw money at a skin.If you like spending gems, that's you, no one is gonna say no to that, however their are some of us who enjoy working towards a reward. Tell me why all the good skins are locked behind a paywall? Be it black lion chests or not? I'm sure they can muster up in-game rewards, which in itself would encourage players to go out and play, instead of running the same metas for the same lootbags. The skins that are in-game most of the time now a days are lackluster. Only a few come to mind that are worth getting, and even then they're easy to get and have no tie ins with replay ability, which this game needs.Another example, mount skins. I'm not talking about the ugly flashy skins, I'm referring to the mundane and elegant ones which should have been rewarded to players. Why? The mounts come from the xpac, which itself costs $30. It's not like they came free and justify the paywall which is HIGH for skins. Basically, yes the game to a sense is free to play, and the gemstore isn't that much of an issue. It's understandable and this is where most of the income is generated. However it does not justify ANET focusing 90% of their time on it, and not rewarding players that want to actually play. An argument could be "Convert your gold" Sure you can, but it still diminished a sense of accomplishment and it's "Brag rights". We all know rewards are the most lackluster thing in GW2 and to any new player, I always see them type in /map "Whats the point of this meta, what is my reward". This is an issue, which I have no idea when will be addressed.
  10. I've read this on the sub-reddit and it nails the mark. Puts things into perspective for ANET (If they ever do read it)(For those that don't browse the sub, here's the link to the thread post) : https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/cy6mjb/game_developers_in_2019_lets_only_publicly/ Like many have said before. This was a ticking time bomb, and it's just finally went BOOM . Part of me Is happy it did, so we can warrant some response from ANET and hopefully it leads to improvements with communication and management.
  11. Alright I've read the replies to this and seen the screenshots that some of you posted. I'm baffled. Truly.Does Arena Net seriously view our voices as "disrespectful"?Let's take a step back Arena Net, please. When people start voicing their opinions it usually comes from passion. Passion from the game YOU made, that THEY want improved. Of course we have people who will say "Either you like it or leave it" "You're not entitled to say your opinion" etc...Yes we are. Everyone that has supported this game has the right to voice their passionate opinions to see the game flourish into something better. No one wants to see their favorite game lose its touch. Obviously each player has their preferences, but ultimately it's up to the Devs to see which opinions should be taken into consideration. However I don't mean being picky and only accepting heartfelt love letters. Let's be realistic here a bit.Yes we understand the team is not the biggest, and yes its game development we can't expect immediate results, but we just want to know that the team listens. That's all.
  12. Alright I've been lurking on Reddit and the forums and I've noticed current and former developers talk about the aftermath of this event. I have but 1 question:Why are they focusing on the "toxicity" and not addressing the actual fair criticism or praise for the event by answering the questions, which if answered even vaguely, would start to repair this damage. Like I keep advocating for the team needing better communication, we have successful free to play games out there who always nail the communication and marketing, please it's not wrong to take note of them, no one will bat an eye. I say all this as someone who is passionate. The fixes to all of this backlash which would've been EASILY avoided if you just took a step back and actually saw the bigger picture to this community. We are players in a world YOU made, we are forever grateful, and we are not out here in a secret cult out to get the developers, we want to hear from you, get to know you better, show us the passion you have outside of the game.So basically my point is, we need to hear more from the developers. I understand theirs "broken promises" that can occur if you started announcing stuff left and right, but sometimes simple milestones, little maps of whats to come or hope to achieve will sit better with the players because as we continue to play, we will have in the back of our minds the thought that "New content is coming" constantly, instead of "I wonder if we will get something soon other than a gemstore item". Thank you for the world you provide us with, and I hope to see more of it in the coming months, and years of course,
  13. I feel like we need more contact with the Dev team. As someone that isn't actively looking in nooks and crannies for what Devs have to say, I present an easier method that gets public attention to the game that is NEEDED, the advertisement scene is lacking. Twitch Streaming with the devs, talking about content updates each set number of weeks, also fun streams that are actually engaging to the community, like Warframe for example. They NAIL the marketing and are so in touch with their community. Please take their game as an example of how to improve yours. I'm not pointing fingers saying this game is better or vice verse, I'm just applying my perspective from another game that I would like to see in this one, which will gain it benefit. So, if the devs reading are not aware of what I am even talking about, Warframe hosts weekly shows called "Prime time" and "DevStream" and been doing successfully since so since launch. Integrate gem drops perhaps into twitch streams, or any skin rewards or what not to get people to start watching.I just want to see the game flourish into something even more beautiful in the coming months and years.
  14. Hello, Arena Net. Firstly I would like to say beforehand that I am a casual player, who's been playing on and off since launch, give or take. I wanted to share my own perspective on the state of the game, in hopes that I might add insight like everyone else. Why do I play GW2? Honestly, visually and mechanically, it is very pleasing. I love the story, the characters, the world. Why do I return? For more story updates, LW, events, and so on.What do I seek in game? Challenges, be it solo or group. My favorite thing is obtaining skins, and playing that fashion war 2.What issues do I see with the game? A lack of rewards. Yes their rewards, but the majority of my time is spent doing events, world bosses, etc and their is no incentive, yet I do it for the experience with other players. But how do I think you can improve this? Simply put, give us rewards worth grinding for, and wanting to go out there. No more piles and piles of useless bag space, I'm talking event specific currency that rewards skins, for example, lots of them, and MOUNTS oh dear, the mount skins are so beautiful yet they are locked behind a store. I get it, the game's free to play, but "buying" a mount skin instead of "earning" one behind a drop or achievement isn't the same, frankly. So in my eyes, as a player who isn't that hardcore, and just wants to enjoy my time, most of the "cool" things are locked behind the Gem store, sure one can argue that it is obtainable via exchange of currency, but it isn't the same as earning something of brag rights. The wardrobe, why are we locked behind paid charges, or rather rare drops of charges but mostly bought. I can't imagine a game that has currency for a wardrobe system, its ruins the experimentation and fun of fashion which as you know is the essence of MMO's to many people, look for "GAMETITLE Fashion" you'll find so much. Yet I am spending my time worrying that I don't have enough transmutation charges to do my work. Core Tyria needs a revamp, like I suggested earlier with event currency or drops that are WORTH doing and not mundane useless junk to the average joe, it can bring SO MUCH people together to old content. I know this doesn't have much to do with what was announced, but please take this into consideration for the future. Bottom line, ANET needs to stop focusing 100% on the GEM store and add incentive to play the game and earn skins or whatnot.
