  1. To be fair, I've had players that I thought were bots and turned out not to be. I don't doubt there are bots because I have seen them get 'stuck' etc. But I'm not sure we don't often label players who don't speak or respond as bots.
  2. 7 games is too small a sample to conclude much of anything. Even if your expected win rate was 50% you have a 12.5% chance you win or lose 3 in a row and a 6.3% chance to win/lose 4 in a row so neither is that uncommon. Could be you are still better on your mesmer but just had a bad streak.
  3. Thanks to all that offered some generalizations. It helps give me a starting point to look at some of the classes I am playing and start to think about what classes/builds I would avoid match ups with.
  4. Well, yeah... that's what they do. Did anyone look at the lineup before the match and switch to something that would counter it? I'm fairly new as well and can't always switch to a better class, but I do know it's pretty satisfying to switch to my Ranger and make it my goal to shut down the DE. Same point as above. It sounds like maybe you are wishing they played your way and frustrated they don't instead of adapting to beat them?
  5. I think this a great piece advice and not something I really thought specifically about before. I know with my warrior I've been running into the node, but on my Ranger I typically first cast Barrage on their side of the node, then look to spike a target, then if we get a down jump in with GS or if not rotate off. It's obvious to me now why likely I've had more success with my Ranger...
  6. Sorry I don't know of anything like that. There's definitely a lot to learn when you first start playing, but since the meta is constantly evolving and changing there's no be-all end-all guide. If I were you I would go to the class specific PvP forums and post questions you have there, or PM notable players in game. Thanks, I couldn't find anything with my searches either so you're probably right about having to go to the specific class pages.
  7. No, it has nothing to do with me not wanting to hear something. I completely understand there is a lot of nuance and detail when you want to get to the "right" answer ever time. With generalization you are willing to accept some error for general guidelines.
  8. Yes something that general is a good start. I know a lot of people will want to go down to the specific, but something like this is good for beginners. Then once they settle on a class they can learn more specifics for that class. I may have poorly phrased my initial post. The spirit of what I was really thinking about was a situation where a new player is leaning to play class x and are capping a point for example, they see class y coming to contest and they need to decide to stay and 1v1 or rotate off and find something favorable. Typically you have no idea about player y so "all things are equal" in the end.
  9. I was really asking if there was a website, general help guide, etc, somewhere already out there for newer players that covered match-ups generally and what to avoid, etc that anyone new about. Playing lower ranked you come across all sorts of builds that aren't found on a site like meta-battle and it would be good to just have some general guidelines for new players to know whether to engage in a 1v1 or not based on the class they are playing. I was hoping there might be something like that already in existence.
  10. Is there a general list somewhere of what classes and builds more easily counter others and in turn which match-ups you should avoid, especially if new? I've been trying out other classes and build this season but I haven't been able to find anything other than an odd note here and there. I know a lot comes down to individual player skill but some guidelines would be helpful.
