  1. Yes, I'm aware of how achievements work. I wasn't asking for advice. It's clear to anyone that is following this achievement that there's no time table, hence the other threads on this topic. I'm not really sure why it's a mystery that people care about the story and how it's progressing either, but that also seems besides the point. My opinion still stands, it would have been better to have a more concrete timetable...and this is literally just my opinion.
  2. It's a story update that's trickled in between the episode releases, so expect it to take ~2 months total. Note that the steps aren't on a timer but rather unlock on specific dates, so you can simply come back at the very end to do them all at once, and probably with voices. It would just be helpful if either in the achievement or by a dev's response we had confirmation of what exactly these unlock dates are. Right now I'm just constantly and pointlessly trying to get Bangar to talk to me every week and it's annoying. Overall it's a minor inconvenience, so it's not like I'm going to riot or anything, but it just feels like sloppy implementation.
  3. There is only one Jormag. It's not being used as a plural, it's being used as a gender neutral marker.
  4. It really depends almost entirely on the kind of group you go in with. If you're trying to PUG or speed run a wing, you'll probably encounter a lot more barriers to entry than if you join a training guild or have a steady group of friends you run with. I raid with my guild-- which isn't a training guild-- and we don't min-max anything hardcore, so most of us are running meta builds, but not necessarily with the intention of hitting top-end benchmarks. Even though it sometimes takes us a couple tries, we almost always clear a few bosses a week, and that's good enough for me, personally. You'll find many raiders have vastly different expectations and goals, but I'm sure you can find a group that aligns with what you're looking for!
  5. If you want a taste of everything GW2 has to offer, this Guild--and really, community-- is the best you'll find. I've been a member since October 2019 and it's been a great experience. Casual-friendly, community wide events, active Discord. We offer training raids, strikes, weekly Fractal groups, story runs, HP trains, and more (and that's just for PvE). Each mode of GW2 has a dedicated department that works hard to make your experience the best it can be, while providing a great friendly atmosphere. Come check us out!
  6. I have reached out to support about this bug that I'm also experiencing, and their advice is to submit an in-game report, and that's all. It sounds exactly like what happened to me, except instead of getting disconnected I switched to a new map instance without thinking in the middle of Crecia's lines, and then they never restarted. I tried everything mentioned above, but the only thing that worked for me was just doing the story on a different character. Perhaps if more of us continue to submit reports they'll look into it-- or at least acknowledge it.
  7. After you decode the tree, Crecia's lines are supposed to automatically start and then continue to a progress bar. This bug stalls Crecia's lines so they either never start or cut out part way through and don't finish. I finally heard back from support after two weeks, but the only thing they offered was an apology for the wait, telling me they appreciate me telling them about my issue, and that next time I should submit a bug report in-game. So are they taking it seriously? Who knows. I'm doubtful considering the response I got, and I'm not honestly sure if this bug is easily reproduced for me to be able to submit an in-game report.
  8. I have the same issue on one of my characters. I submitted a ticket within the first couple days of release, but I still haven't heard back from support. I would at least also submit a ticket if you haven't just so they know it's affecting more than one person. Have you tried the story on another character? I ended up taking a different character through and it didn't stall, but my original character is still stuck.
  9. I don't agree that the Charr aren't critical thinkers. Their culture is built on the tactics of war and conquest. Is war and conquest the most diplomatic way of thinking? No. But I wouldn't say that makes the Charr any less critical thinkers. I think there are plenty of examples of critical thinking across different tiers of Charr society, even going back as far as the personal story. My understanding is that Bangar still has a big voice over the Blood Legion, but not necessarily so much among the other legions-- hence why there are much fewer renegade Charr from non-Blood legions (correct me if this is wrong-- I could definitely be wrong), and why Bangar thinks this move will help his reputation.
  10. After so many years I feel like it's a given that there's massive turnover, 7 years really -is- a long time. I've been playing since release, and I still log in every day for at least a couple of hours, and I know plenty of other 'veteran' players that do the same, similar, or even more. I've gone through a lot of guilds over the years, and some of them have died from inactivity, while others I left for other reasons. There's still plenty of guilds out there that are casual, I think the issue is that a lot of casual guilds don't actively seek recruitment in map chat. You can check the forums here for good matches that aren't only raid statics. Sometimes it just takes a little time to find a good fit. TL;DR: Guilds aren't dead.
  11. I actually have a very positive opinion of mounts in relation to exploration. Especially in HoT with it's vertical layers, exploring them with the Springer, Griffon, and Skyscale made hard to reach places much more accessible to me, and I've been able to enjoy them a lot more. Well...I guess exploring them on foot the first time was fun too, but there's an interesting difference between the chaos of exploring HoT on foot/with glider and the freedom of flying around or scaling vines with the Springer.
  12. Yeah, I agree, exploration was always my favorite part of GW1, and GW2 is...less thrilling. I will say that I still love exploring new maps for the first time, and generally I'm entertained and satisfied with new maps as they come out, but I guess from the point of the view of exploration, there's not like...a huge reason to care? For example, world completion in core feels really satisfying and it was a genuine journey, but beyond the achievements you get for HoT and PoF the 1st time you explore a map (not even 'total expansion completion') fully there's not a huge incentive to care about exploration. It's even more disappointing as the team has switched over to LW focused releases over expansions as there's even less exploration-centered achievements and goals. Idk, there's so much other stuff to do it's hard for me to be -too- upset about it, but it has been disappointing.
  13. I don't know anything about WoW so maybe take my opinion with a grain of salt, but in terms of 'tanking' in PvE content, any of the heavy classes you mentioned are decent (Guardian, Warrior, Revenant), and if you want something a little more unique, Reaper necro is also pretty fun. I think in comparison to other MMOs, though, you'll find the idea of tanking in GW2 is maybe not the same? Like especially in PvE content, it's pretty easy to clear everything with any kind of character, and the idea of tanking doesn't really translate the same way because of how GW2 mechanics work. It's much easier-- for example-- to tank in vanilla because of Espec power creep, but in HoT and PoF and all of the LW seasons, you're much better off utilizing dodging and movement than simple tanking. Not to say you CAN'T tank, though, just the game has moved even further away from the traditional tank as it's grown. In terms of how big the game is, it's really dependent on how much time you can put into it. I work a full time job and have other interests/responsibilities, so a new character I roll would take a much longer time to get through everything. You know, there's Vanilla, HoT, and PoF in terms of expansions and 3 full LW seasons, plus the prologue of season 5. LW takes a lot less time to get through, but if you're doing all of the small achievements and side stuff, it adds hours up quickly.
  14. As it's already been mentioned, I would say scout out LFG and maybe even list yourself in LFG for the meta. Serpent's Ire-- even post nerf-- is difficult because you have to coordinate a bunch of PUGs on CC and other mechanics which...isn't always successful. If it makes you feel any better, you're by no means the only one that's ever had issues with this meta, and I doubt you'll be the last.
  15. Jormag is the dragon of persuasion, so it makes sense to me that they would want to 'recruit' the Commander if possible before outright trying to destroy them.
  16. Well the episode was just a prologue so I'm not sure there's a good feeling for that yet. Part of it is closing up PoF and part of it is starting the new narrative. I will say the map definitely doesn't feel like PoF anymore, if that helps at all.
