  1. The reason that its the first build that has "clicked" with you is because it is one of if not the easiest builds to play in the entire game. Quite presumptuous of you there mate. How easy a spec is to play effectively and how fun it is are two different metrics. I suppose if the only thing in a game you care about is winning then maybe they're not, but for myself (and IMO most people) winning without playing a class that you find fun is rather empty. For instance in WoW I mained a hunter for a few seasons, the beast mastery spec of hunter was hands down the easiest spec in the game and was often one of the strongest specs for any given PvP season. Personally though BM was never fun for me, just the theme and playstyle never clicked with me, so I always played marksman or survival (the other two hunter specs) even though I could absolutely have been winning more games with comparatively less effort as BM. Perhaps I am an outlier, maybe most players are meta slaves, but for me playing a class that you find cool in theme and fun to play is more important than win rate to the enjoyment of any game. The reason I find memser fun has nothing to do with how easy it is, hell as someone with less than 150 games played in total nothing in this game will be "easy" to me in the sense that it is to veterans. Honestly the main thing is I just think the class design/fantasy is cool as fuck, the idea of making copies of yourself and killing your opponents with a team of yourself is just an awesome concept to me. The other build I've found pretty fun was fresh air ele, which from what I've read is one of the hardest specs to play. I've pretty extensively messed around with power shatter spec too. For me the part about that spec that kinda turned me off was the melee parts of it. I've always enjoyed ranged classes and kiting in every MMO I've played over the last two decades, so to me having to run into melee on a ranged class to do your burst just felt weird.
  2. So it's not as much the direct nerf to condi that's the big thing here, it's the overall meta change? That makes sense, I myself with my limited experience have noticed that firebrands tend to kitten me up the most, if the meta is swinging in a direction that makes them more prevalent it makes sense that would hurt condi mirage alot. That is unfortunate, the condi version of mesmer is the only one I found fun, I've dabbled with the power/shatter variations and to me they just weren't as fun to play. It is good to know that there will still be viable builds with different weapons tho, if I can't find another spec I like might just stick it out with that. To me the mesmer class is far and away the coolest in theme, the idea of screwing with your enemies perception of reality with clones and phantasms is just such an awesome concept. Thanks for replying mate, I appreciate the info.
  3. Hello good people of the forums. As a new player (~150 games played in total) who enjoys condi mirage I am worried that the nerfs will kill it, or at least make it super duper weak. Was hoping some of you more knowledgeable players could weigh in a bit. Since I am so new to the game I'm pretty useless when it comes to theorycrafting potential builds, could I simply swap out the nerfed staff for a different weapon set and still be decent? The condi mirage is the first build, of the handful I've tried so far, that has "clicked" with me, I'd be a bummer if right as I find a spec I like it gets nerfed into unviability. Perhaps my worries are unfounded, I certainly hope so, I just wanted to ask you more experienced mesmer players what you thought about the future of condi mirage. So that if it will be made trash tier I can trying out some other builds or classes till I find something else I really enjoy.
  4. As a new player in 2019 who plays PvP I do in fact know what it's like... and it's not what you seem to think. I've been having an absolute blast in PvP. The combat is fluid and reactive and I love the skill based PvP rather than gear based. The classes, those I've tried anyway, are fun to play, and the game world is gorgeous. Sure I've been blown up a few times, but that is to be expected while learning a new game. I have not been discouraged or turned off by imbalanced damage as you suggest. Hell at this stage game balance simply isn't a factor yet, I am not winning or losing a fight because of game balance as a new player. I am too busy learning my class, learning the other classes, learning the maps, figuring out PvP builds, etc... to be bothered by the overall game balance. If anything I like the bursty damage, which seems to be your main complaint, coming from WoW PvP where currently you'd have to wail on a target for 30 min to kill them, the low TTK is actually refreshing. In short, I am a new player in PvP, and OP couldn't be more wrong. It's been nothing but fun.
