  1. I got Skyscale before Griffon. I only remember collection after collection after collection, then got tired of all the jumping puzzles and bought treats to skip them. There is only 1 group content required for Skyscale, iirc. Other group content had a way to skip it. Griffon takes far less time, far more money, and requires more group content. Skyscale definitely helped with getting the Griffon.
  2. I think people are missing the forest for the trees. You may not like the balance changes, but the classes are definitely diverse. A mechanist may revolve around a pet, but it's never going to feel like Ranger. A Specter may use shroud, but it's definitely not a Necromancer. Warrior may have gotten an Elite spec of some sort, but it's never going to be loved by Anet. Things like that.
  3. Usually die to uninvited extras. Some enemy types turn a simple combat into a grueling ordeal.
  4. Healer. Druid in classic, Priest in whatever expansion when mana efficiency was the priority. Cata maybe? I generally play support. Yes, there were mechanics, even the DPS had to deal with them. But they were fairly simple. Compare it with the Kaineng Strike. Boss, 3 enemies, Boss, 2 Enemies, Boss. Each enemy has their own mechanics that overlap while the boss gains a new one each phase. Avoid this circle, stand in this circle, dodge this attack, eat this minor damage attack, move to the back, spread out, come together, put your left foot in and shake it all about. I don't enjoy that at all. Feels like I am just being pushed around by mechanics; not fighting a powerful enemy. Other people may feel differently and that's fine. I was just saying why I don't Raid (or do any instanced group content in MMOs anymore).
  5. I find boss mechanics to be a chore. Classic WoW's dungeons and raids were fun. Not much going on. Basically tank and spank. You could watch the fight unfold. Can't do that anymore. Everything needs to have various game mechanics. It feels like I am fighting the game, not the boss.
  6. Dance Mastery: 1-4, able to use a different dance. 5. Able to shift to different styles while dancing. Music Mastery: 1- however many. Automatically play songs from the Guild Wars soundtrack. Nothing too involved and hopefully not step on the Novelties.
  7. Weapon or Armor? Craft it. Accessories? Living World 3,4, and Icebrood has various choices, or Laurels if you have them. By the time you "need" exotics, you probably have them.
  8. Core is too simple to prepare you for anything after. Since auto attack is generally all you need, the rest of the skills, builds, and class mechanics seem more like flavor buttons than anything to really think about. Probably only a handful of enemies that require something other than facetank and auto attack.
  9. New players start the game regardless of what's going on. "Before they launch on Steam", all they need to do is find a better way of directing newbies through the content. They don't need to give everything away for free just because someone thinks it's fun.
  10. It heavily depends on what you enjoy playing. When it comes to Greatsword, I prefer Vindicator. On the other hand, Bladesworn basically has two sets of Greatsword skills, three if you stretch it to cover Dragon Trigger. Changes to EoD Offensive/Defensive protocols have made Boon uptime less important in open world PvE. From my perspective, this takes some of the wind out of Firebrand sails, but I've never enjoyed any of Guardian Elites.
  11. You can be as casual as you want and still make progress on something. I generally log in for 15-30 minutes after work, kill and sell the loot. It adds up to decent amount after a week. The only professions that aren't as Newbie friendly are Elementalist and Mesmer. Newbies still enjoy using them, but they are a bit more difficult to learn. However, I would definitely try out every profession, as they probably don't play quite like you'd expect.
  12. This, but Batteries and Ziplines reset when you zone. So just hop in and out of Arborstone to quickly top off both boons.
  13. I used World Boss Portal Device to snag random waypoints on new characters. More expensive is Thousand Seas Pavilion. It can toss you almost everywhere but HoT.
  14. Hot: Amazing. PoF: Deserts have always bored me. EoD: The green screams at you.
  15. Save the whales, bro. Banning all the "bad" things sounds good, but there are always unintended consequences. Personally, I hope they throw up a "Black Lion Daily Raffle" just for spite, but the prices of everything will probably just rise.
  16. I think we could all agree that the first part of the Skyscale collection is excessively dull. It's not that it's grindy. It's that it is very boring to do a scavenger hunt after scavenger hunt after scavenger hunt in one area.
  17. Because I don't like people being excluded from something they might be interested in. "It's only a..." can be used for anything since it's only a game. And whatever it is, I will use it. The birthday gifts have had plenty of exclusives so far and I fully expect more exclusive stuff in the 10th. I just hope they keep it to a minimum.
  18. I never liked exclusive stuff. "Hey, how do you get that?" "Wait 10 years." Although it would be amusing to run around with the title "Geriatric" in red.
  19. Slow down and only do a little bit per day. It's longer than you think and you WILL burn out if you keep trying to rush through it. Personally, I worked on the 250 of each currency (Bjora Marches mainly) and grinding some extra gold for treats early on to break up the grind, since I knew I would need them later.
  20. This would feel VERY out of place since everything has a function in game. Closest thing would be to allow players to use Warclaw in PvE, but still need PoF and to unlock it for PvP.
  21. Naw, it's the truth. I run through maps on foot, grinding enemies and gathering. Not excellent gold making, but it's mindless fun. In theory, mounted players come and finish events before you arrive. In reality, most events are ignored.
  22. Classes are very different from each other and generally different from what you expect. If you aren't liking something you are playing, try a different one. As for leveling, I'd suggest exploring. Killing enemies, gathering crafting materials, finding new areas, unlocking points of interests, using vistas, etc. all grant decent experience. Progression is very horizontal at 80, and you'll find that unlocking all those waypoints while leveling becomes a big help for various things you'll find yourself doing.
  23. I dunno, it's pretty incredible how much bank space they take up.
  24. Yup. Yup. Similar thing happened to me last weekend. For whatever reason, there's a group of people who play Dragonfall until 4/4 camps , then abandons the map. Just wait, it'll fill back up before Kralkatorrik.
