I'm getting the same error message when I try to access any leaderboard page except the start page while logged in. If I'm not logged in, the pages I can reach work fine.

Aww, that sucks. Then it was probably just luck after retrying a couple times and not the fact that we entered through the portal.

Had the same problem last night (~0:30 CEST), when a friend wanted to show me a JP in their Lost Precipe GH. It eventually worked after entering the guild hall through the portal in Verdant Brink instead of the guild panel. All the decorations were still there, so there's probably no need to worry about your stuff.
