  1. This sounds great. Wish I could be there. Thanks for the raffle as well. Lasher Wolfsong picks #18 please.
  2. I'm in Embers of Everlasting [FIRE]. You can find the recruit post on the looking for guild page, there's a full section on how to request an interview to join. You can also contact Cerioth.7062 (Guild Leader). Please make sure you read the post to make sure we would be a guild you'd be interested in joining. They've been very inviting so far, although I admit I haven't been very social yet. They genuinely seem to be a very good group to work with and learn from.Good luck.
  3. I know how you feel, I've restarted several toons trying to find a profession I can play/enjoy and still (maybe) be competitive at some later time. So far, not so good. I've now restarted my necro after giving up on my ele. I was/am hopelessly slow and lost. :anguished:On the bright side, I love this game and enjoy the PVE part. I've recently joined a guild and hope to contribute when I get a little more experience and skill. Will I ever be "meta"? No. Will I have fun? Yes.I'm 53 with a set of "bad hands", and I'll never get the keyboard to cooperate with me fully, but it is a game and the idea is to have fun.Enjoy your time and play the way you want. I do know there are several guilds out there willing to train and help those who don't play (nor may ever) at the highest levels, and I feel I'm in one, so if you feel the need to have that help or group involvement, don't hesitate to try that again as well.
  4. Free bump for you!Hi Cerioth, I've been looking around a bit and feel like you're group would be a good fit for what I'm looking for in a community/group to play with. I'll be on discord later tonight to sign up. Hope to hear from you soon.
  5. Welcome to Tyria! As a newcomer myself, I wish I had started this journey years ago. I'm loving every minute I play, the world so far is great to look at and explore. Take your time and enjoy every scene and vista you can. :)
  6. Very nice and well thought out. I wish I had this a few weeks ago. It's nice having everything in one place. Good job. :)
  7. So, I logged in today and found I had mail from a player I hadn't met. Seems they read a comment I had made about being new and proceeded to send me a little help in the mail, along with a welcome message to the game. That's the kind of community games like these need to keep the player base alive and make the newer players feel like they're welcome and not attacked or looked down upon because they're new, especially for players like me (over 50) that have logged thousands of hours in games, just not this one.So I'd like to give a very big thank you to kharmin.7683 for they're help and kind words. We can never have enough of either. Hopefully I can pass it on as I learn as well. :)
  8. Well, as a relative "noob" to this game, I want to say thanks to all of you who still help and can remember what it's like to be new on a game. The one thing I always dread about starting a new game is the toxic atmosphere of an established game and the "older" players who seem to have totally forgotten they were once new as well, and seem to be more focused on talking down to a new player rather than helping them out. The best way to keep a game you like/love going is to help build the fanbase, not tear it down and make people leave. So I welcome all of you who frequent the starter areas and appreciate any help that's given. 9. Using that booster for a second toon after leveling the first is really giid, though. The booster does provide valkyrie gear for thief and rabid gear for necro. The other 7 classes get soldier's gear. Also, be aware the difficulty level jumps significantly going from core Tyria to either HoT or PoF. The wiki has a good article on CC's and using them to break defiance bars. Having that down will help immensely in both expansions and the living world maps. For example, on my warrior I normally run 5 CC skills - bulls charge and headbutt, mace 3 (pommel bash), shield 4 (shield bash), and the mace berserk skill skullgrinder. With those 5 I can normally drop the break bar on even champions, unless there is a zerg that has scaled it up too high. I am going to level a toon up, just not sure which one. My two mains, ranger and ele, will level normally since I'm liking the gameplay of both. I was considering a new character just to get the mount unlocked, but I don't want to waste a boost on one I'll never play, so I'm still considering. I thought about trying a thief, they have an interesting skill set.
  10. Thanks, I discovered that after posting this. :)Still have WOW thinking in my head. I'm one to try and play with minimum reading and sometimes that bites me. I realized my display was showing the wolf and raven and I was able to call them back. Rookie mistake, and I'm reading quite a bit more about the game and lore now. I'm really liking the gameplay and style.
  11. Yep, just wanted to see what the boost would give me, I plan on leveling the right way, learned my lesson on lvl boosts back in WOW. And thanks for the wiki link, I had already checked there but I'm not familiar with some of the locations, but it is nice to know you can get some of them at the capitol cities.
  12. So has anyone else had this problem? I took my Norn for a little lvl 80 trip to see what things looked like and when I canceled the boost my wolf/raven had disappeared and I have the stalker in his place. Stalker isn't supposed to be a bad pet but I was enjoying running around the frozen wastes with my white wolf. Not really a complaint, but I would like to get another wolf.
  13. Thanks and I like apples as well. :)I am basically curious about replay and not getting bored with the same stories. I'm liking the Norn story/characters so far and they fit my Ranger. So I won't have a problem replaying that race with another profession later. I read somewhere that the Sylvari story plays well in HOT, so that might be an option as well, but I'm not pulled toward that race. Thanks to both of you for the input, I've read dozens of posts about professions but very little on the actual storylines. I played GW2 years ago (old laptop) and I'm just coming back to it now. I love the feel and look of the game, so I bought the expacs and now I'm just starting fresh with a couple of mains and trying to get used to the play styles. Hopefully I'm not too late to the game, and I'm looking forward to the next expansion next year.
  14. Hi, newish player here and while I know I'm playing ranger and ele, also have human and norn so far, what stories to you are the most fun to play/replay? I'm in this as much for the story/rpg as I am anything else. I've tried to play a couple more races, but haven't gotten very far since I'm trying to level up my 2 mains. I'm leaning toward the asura next. Haven't done the charr at all. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Loving this game so far.
