Well thanks for whatever that was. I've played every facet of GW2, since beta so yes I understand what matters. A year ago Reaper was in the basement and had been there for years just wanted to know if they've bothered buffing it so it;s competitive in WvW open world anyone can survive however Reaper took forever to kill anything when i left.

After stepping away for a year, just wondering if Reaper is still in the basement? Just trying to decide if i should come back for this mini expack or not bother.

Well this sounds way too familiar to the state of the game prior to HoT. We went years without an expansion with the promise of regular content of expansion like content which almost buried the game. Color me very skeptical! -

Just logged in again after months and the world feels bloody dead at this point, at least all if the new expansion zones are empty. This was likely due from such a long content drought after the expansion. Not sure this new format is going to bring enough content to warrant paying for but we'll see.- 160 replies

Today is the day for me and if they do not take all our feedback to heart and do not deliver on the much needed and substantial DPS buff, I will be taking my time and my money elsewhere. They've had too many opportunities over the years and this will be the last straw for me. My guess they leave it status quo as per their pre-patch information if so that will convince me this game is a lost cause for me. We'll know soon enough. -

There is absolutely no reason not to increase Reapers DPS except pure spite or unwillingness on behalf of the devs. Bumping DPS to 37k-39k hurts nobody, affects nobody in a negative way, it just helps the player based enjoy this class. There is nothing detrimental to doing so and this disdain and lack of will to help this class out is why I'm on my way out the door. -

This is exactly why I'm done with the game. It isn't complicated and they are just not willing to fix it. Sad state of affairs for the Reaper and what's worst is they've known for a very long time but haven't lifted a finger to change this which clearly shows they're biased towards meta builds and don't care about those who've been in the tank for years now. Was a ton of fun for a long time but I've had all the slaps in the face I'm going to take from the balance devs' in this game. -

This post basically nails it and these changes clearly shows that it's a class not actually being played by the Dev's at all. I've pretty much given up regardless of new additions it's like someone over there has sported a grudge against Reaper and are crippling the class on purpose. Either way don't want to detract from this great feedback quote but from what I've witnessed regarding Reaper balancing they don't take anything the players say seriously anyway. As such I'll be moving on, maybe someday when someone there actually cares to put the time into fixing Reaper properly I'll return, for now helping my wife get the new scroll for Lion's Arch then I'm out. -

Looking at the changes proposed for Reaper once again being completely ineffective so at this point I guess the alternative is just leaving the game for another MMO that actually has a real passion for balance. This isn't about not just keeping up with the other classes it's about a class/elite spec that was introduced and was competitive being trashed over the years to become a shadow of it's former self and the Dev's not caring enough to refurbish it to it's previous functional design. Reaper benches now 31,5k, this was the last straw for me, as since it seems there is no definitive will on behalf of Anet to fix it, I don't enjoy any of the other classes/elite specs so there is no reason to stay. I'm bloody sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. -

Not one significant buff, nothing to greatly improve, overall DPS, no improvements to CC, nothing substantial to bring to a raid group. These changes are once again a slap in the face of every long term Reaper player since it's release. This is why I'm walking away from the game, I've waited long enough and I'm just done waiting. Reaper is in a terrible state right now and they've put virtually ZERO effort into fixing this since they gutted it not long after it launched. Don't waste your time, just play the meta or you'll be horribly disappointed.

This, Reaper has been stripped bare due to the fact everyone looks at the 2nd health bar as some saving grace but the fact is it doesn't compensate for terrible damage, little to no sustain and we have virtually useless control capabilities Great that you have a philosophy but my suggestion is if you have a genuine interest in balance try starting with classes like the Reaper who's been gutted of any real functionality. We need to see some real improvements to damage outside of shroud (min 30 %) and bring back some sustainability while in shroud again. Rework our controls, fear/cold so they are more are par with every other class again. It is great that you've given us an outlook for your philosophy, but pardon me for being incredibly skeptical when Reaper has been a toilet dweller for so many years.

That's it in a nutshell, we don't support well because we have very little CC anymore, we don't tank well because we have lost a lot of lifeforce regeneration capabilities, very little movement ability, in fact quite slow, now we have less dps than most builds by a long shot. They didn't know what to do with us so they just neutered all positive skills that gave the Reaper it's identity. We have no place at all, with the exception of farming goods as a bot, who's fault is that? Bring the Reaper back to what it was when it dropped and at least allow us to regain the role of selfish DPS so it is worthwhile and fun to play again.

The obstinate posters here (you know who you are) are so bloody detrimental to actually getting some semblance of balance rework it is mind boggling. The Reaper was the perfect tank when it was released and only due to WvW and PVP outcry did it get neutered. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the original build and now that can easily split the skills there is zero reason not to bring it back as it was originally intended. Between the chill skills and the great life force regeneration made a perfect tank/control/DPS combo which was widely used in groups and solo. If it weren't for incredibly vocal PvP community and the complete lack of the developers willingness to split off skills between PvE and other play styles we would still a great tank/control/dps build. Stop trying to reinvent this elite build, bring it back to where it once was and split off the skills required for those modes in which it was slightly overpowered (doubt very much that is still the case). Those of us who care about this class and who are actually trying to to get it fixed need to be free to express their ideas without the the continued badgering of the contrarian forum trolls.

Anet decided long ago the easiest path is to force players into their cookie cutter meta classes so they have far less work to do when it comes to balance, unfortunately Reaper is not one of those classes. There have been hundreds of threads with the Reaper player base asking for fixes. THEY DON'T CARE!

I said nothing about roles, the elite as a whole was broken by Anet, and I cannot tank effectively, control effectively and my dps is subpar. My point once again is that Reaper was a viable build they broke it, now it isn't, I want Anet to restore the capabilities they stole from the build so it is a decent spec to play, to hell with the role! Give us the control back, along with better DPS so we can enjoy playing the class again. No mystery no ulterior motive or agenda, just fix the build and we can enjoy the damned game as we did before, is that really too much to ask for?

Complete BS, you're ignoring the fact that Reaper already had a role, which was tank/control with decent DPS, they broke the class the players didn't and all we are asking for is to fix it! Add the fear and freeze levels back and up the DPS and we are back in business. You want to constantly defend their actions feel free but the Reaper was a great build at one point and it was Anet that trashed it, regardless of your perceived all knowing opinion. The Reaper was a solid build Anet broke it, we want it fixed it's as simple as that.

This game is done, they couldn't balance a checkbook. 6 of the 36 elite specs are decent the bulk of the rest are on the mediocre at best in most game modes with the remainder in the toilet not worth playing. I don't want to hear the "oh we don't know what role they should play" Screw that GW2 was founded on all classes being able to play the way you want, fact is now it's all about trying to integrate the soft trinity which in fact has completely skewed the balance for the vast majority of classes and has ruined this once great game. You can't play the way you like because they want you to play the role they have repurposed your spec for you so play that or too bad, it's ludicrous. Keep asking for buffs fact is it's too late to fix this mess so either accept that, play one of the 6 or leave because nothing you say here matters. I'm going to try and find something else where devs actually care about balance because 5 plus years of being in the bottom rung is enough for me!

Well, as I've said they have until November to fix Reaper then I'm gone for good. Tired of the lack of balance, 6 good elites specs 30 kitten poor. Worst overall balancing I've ever seen in an mmorpg bar none!

Not bloody complicated bump the DPS for greatsword and speed up the skills or add longer control periods so we can at least land the bloody hits.

Never will understand this absolute hatred devs have for Reaper, it's infuriating to see this elite spec fade into oblivion. Like i said before ill give them until November to get this fixed then I'm done completely with GW2 and most certainly will not purchase the next ex-pack.
