  1. Seriously, with any more kind of such messages or statements, I get more pimples. Where is actually the problem - except in a curious view of wanting to play the game in the most minimal way (as passively as possible), and still be rewarded for it? Let's have a look from my perspective, example: An attack on an object is called, I decide to help out. Fortunately, the attack could be repelled. Walls were damaged, the gate from the attack before was not yet completely repaired, so I get supplies and help to repair (usually I repair up to 3 times, others are usually there as well). Well, work done - I move on again, play my game, walk around, etc. So, and now got no participation (I did not even think about it) - i don't care that much. Because I didn't come in the first place to defend the object, just to generate participation. The goal was to successfully repel the attack (and if not, unlucky - sh!t happens) and have fun fights. Apart from that, there are still enough ways (even if in some areas the system could be usefully improved, but not for permanently loitering in objects with the justification of wanting to "defend") to generate participation. Especially if you are actively playing the game (permanently "sitting in an object" is not one of them, in my opinion). Scouts who agree to do this should or could be rewarded by the WvW server community - without expecting it (I do that sometimes; I just send up to 5g or something comparable). Also, there is often the possibility to join a squad (commander), and get assigned participation when you take the scout part. Nevertheless - the small change (09/11 or 11/09) had a far-reaching effect - a positive one (at least that's how I see it). WvW, or PvP in general, should consist of active involvement - even if you don't get rewarded for "every" little thing. It is (in an optimal game operation) about the big picture, the common success ... which may be also rewarded by "appreciation, praise, and recognition" from other teammates. There would be quite more to write and further examples ... however the small insight should express, what it is about. It's also about maybe playing the game in a different way (if necessary, in a less comfortable way ...) than before. WvW has already been a unique construction site for a long time, in different areas - yes - and I hope, for my part, that the "reward and participation system" will be thoughtfully revised, someday! Not nearly last, it is still WvW, a "player versus player" mode and not exclusively PvE! Also, in this case, the focus should not lie primarily on the rewards or items to be obtained (...)! Those who play the mode exclusively with this in mind will probably always have something to complain about and may also not really have understood the meaning of the system itself (even if outdated) and will also not recognize this mode as such, which this should primarily refer to, namely the PvP part!
  2. You've practically given yourself the answer (if you play mainly on dbl, you don't necessarily notice it). The stronghold of "afk loitering", including their mentioned activities, takes place mainly on ebg. Less on the Alpine borderlands and almost hardly on dbl (at least according to my experience). And the ones I see are often the same. I jokingly asked someone (one of these species - perma "afk" wall repairer) yesterday on EBG how his/her playstyle was going to change with the upcoming update/change (9 November 9). I didn't necessarily expect an answer, and so I didn't get one (of course, that could be for several reasons, but never mind). I only give this example because I don't see some players doing anything other than standing at a wall to fix it, no matter where on the map. But (who cares, ...) this is meanwhile only one of many issues of the WvW mode or the game system that allows such behaviour.
  3. I like the basic idea. In any case, the "future and/or reworked" WvW game system should require more activity from the player (solo and up) than just standing "afk" against a wall - as has already been read as an example - to counteract the decay of participation by repairing. It would also presumably reduce excessive "wasting" of supplies. And maybe it's not so "unrealistic" (in the case of repairing walls) to implement, especially since - as I remembered while reading - one could make use of the (secondary) mechanic from the sPvP mode, the map "Battle of Kyhlo", which looks like this: If your trebuchet is destroyed, bring a repair kit to it to make it functional again. In WvW, for example, it could read as follows: If walls of objectives are damaged or destroyed, bring a repair kit (from the camp) to repair it faster and earn "participation".
  4. See: Merged thread - Bot's in PVP. How can I make this thread official? Enough? 🙂 ANet seems to think 🤔 that (allowing) bots 🤖 are the solution to the lack of players, but don't (want to) realise 🙈🙉 that it only makes it worse (game experience etc.). You think it can't get any worse, ANet comes around the corner 👋 and teaches you better 😤 (and no, I don't want comparisons to other games and the usual blah blah, thanks). At first it was annoying, then ridiculous, in the meantime just sad where they have made it with the mode. The entire situation is meanwhile only bearable if you basically recognise sPvP for what it is, a clown show 🤡 (i.e., not competitive in any conceivable sense). At best, you avoid it completely. Many players have waited a long time (on ANet) and then given up, i.e. quit 🖕. New players or returning players will very quickly notice or realise 😒 that something is very wrong. ANet's response 🤥 to the current disease is probably, and thus only, to treat the symptoms with EoD (expansion). This, however, provides only brief alleviation 😷 because they do not consider or address the cause of the problems, also because they do not (want to) have "one" that fixes the actual problems 🤧, or at least to a tolerable level that restores the enjoyment of the game(mode) itself. 😏 ANet is basically punishing EVERYONE 💣 with this abstinent behaviour. Returning, new players or casual players and especially veterans. What basically remains "competitive" are the few hard-core players and addicts, of whom some make their own game out of it, i.e. manipulate 😈 the matchmaking and thus the games and their outcome (to their advantage) ✌️ and/or farm gizmos to then sell them 🤝 for real money 🤑. But that's over now (of course 😇🤞), because ANet will now regularly monitor 👀 this and ban ⛓️ players or accounts. 🤥👈😆🤞
  5. No offence, but to me this sounds like an excuse at first (if it were ..., then i might ...), but maybe I can help not only you with the following thoughts. At first: I mean, I can kind of understand the whole thing - no question. The idea of using the armoury function for that. In this case, however, I think the suggestion with the gathering tools (available account-wide by default upon purchase) is more about personal convenience. For me, this is not necessarily a "QoL" addition. But well, as mentioned - I can definitely understand the thought. Example: In my case (rather at the beginning), I knew after a while that I would eventually acquire "unlimited gathering tools". I had already thought about the fact that the "shared inventory slots" would play a role at that point. And that's how I use or keep it to this day. When I change characters, I have trained myself to remember to drag the tools into the shared inventory slots beforehand. I use a little trick to do this (it may sound or read a bit awkward at first, but it's not really). Each character is equipped with normal, finite gathering tools from the beginning (the infinite gathering tools are initially in the shared inventory during this process). If I want to use the infinite tools, I simply click on them and exchange/equip them automatically (at this point the finite tools are in the shared inventory). This works in both directions. Basically, it's just a question of "training". Yes, sometimes (rather rarely) it happens that I forget to exchange them again, but then that's up to me ...
  6. Why did you even leave the game? Was Sherlock 🧐 following a different trail 👣? Was Sherlock led astray - what happened ❓ Where were you? We would have needed you, one time or another! 🔎 If you'd followed the trail all the way here (to today), the outcome would be very different, wouldn't it? The incident would have been solved long ago. 😁 P.S. My contribution or comment is not really to be taken seriously. 😉
  7. Nice summary, that alone should make you (ANet) think about the miserable state. 💩😫 But yeah, this is long overdue, ... 🕧😠🌪️ ANet should find other and further ways to make money 💎 (and there are plenty of them) 💰 instead of breaking their own rules ⚖️ and allowing bots 🤖 just because they sell copies. ANet knows exactly what's going on! 🙈 If I want to buy an offline game, or want to fight NPC's exclusively, I won't buy GW2 in the first place (especially if 2/3 game modes are PvP oriented modes)! 💤💤💤 As I mentioned before, find (other) ways to make money that are also accepted and/or tolerated by the majority of the community. Especially in the PvP areas. Issues like that shouldn't have to be mentioned x amount of times until something happens. It is simply not fun and drives more players away than it brings. If that's your plan (to drive people away), then congratulations, keep it going! You want to offer the community a great gaming experience 🤡 (haha, blah blah) - then do something about it, and not just in theory or on paper 📝 or with announcements 📣 like: "We are constantly improving our system or working on improving the reporting system". Just do it! ‼️ Source: Mike O'Brien (even if he no longer works in the company)
  8. I'm sitting in the waiting room and don't really know why any more. I simply forgot.
  9. Any way or style of play that allows or supports spamming of skills or even combinations (thief & stealth - SA trait line - as another example) is oppressive (shouldn't exist like that, in my opinion). That in general up front. And especially with the engineer, regarding the grenade kit, I completely agree (meanwhile i play different engineer builds myself). It (engineer kit, auto attacks) really should be adapted or even changed in design. Your suggestion sounds reasonable and would certainly prevent spamming. My suggestion on the subject would be to use the system of chain skills, which exist especially in many slot 1 weapon skills. With one difference (usually you know the behaviour of chain skills is that the following skill or effect becomes stronger): The more often you use a skill, in the case of the engineer, for example, this applies above all to the flamethrower, grenade and mortar kit, the weaker it becomes (up to a certain point). An internal cooldown added to the mechanics would then reset the strongest (first) attack skill (as long as you are in combat). Out of combat, this would be reset immediately. Something like this. And since we're talking about the engineer and spamming of skills, Holo Leap should finally be changed to the same cooldown in WvW as in sPvP!
  10. Less a proof than the call by the remaining community (...) and the outcry to finally take action! In most cases, ANet only reacts when the outcry is so great in order to avoid further damage. In any case, this was not ANet's own initiative to finally take action. It often feels like you (the community) have to put constant pressure on an adult who is acting like a teenager (in this case ANet) and tell him to clean up his (meanwhile smelly) room. Or at least the one cupboard (figuratively speaking, the PvP mode) from which the smell comes. According to (supplementary to the first section): If a certain number of players (and the number should be really "huge") are interested in something (* according to my experience, it was about a suggestion for improvement, a merchant who makes it possible to exchange WvW infusions), i.e. a certain threshold has been reached, then ANet reacts, before that relatively little happens (and usually not visibly) and/or often only when no one cares any more. Nevertheless, it's good that something has been done. Let's see how long it lasts. 👏 * To be able to understand it (see asterisk) better, an addition: I made the suggestion in one of the ANet WvW Dev streams, to which the answer came (analogously): If the players are interested in it and want something like that (and understandably this did not mean only 5 players who would have had something from it), then it would definitely be an option. And that cleared up the question, i.e., knowing that nothing would happen.
  11. For over a year, even before last Halloween, I thought to myself, ... what am I going to do with all the Halloween pails that have accumulated over time (also because I don't need any more). I still have many stored, assuming that ANet will provide or add a useful way to "recycle" them. Therefore, it occurred to me that ANet could add a recipe to the Halloween event that would allow you to make/craft higher quality bags (up to 32 slot). At least the bags would still have an added value. That would be my suggestion. Personally, I think it is nonsensical to have to "throw away" the bags you have acquired that you no longer need. I'm not sure I'd store these X bags for another year until the next Halloween event. Probably not.
  12. The only thing I personally like about this ongoing discussion (which concerns this rune in general - not only DH) is that the more often it is discussed or complained about (rightly), the more ANet should finally acknowledge that this rune should be reworked! Not that this should not have happened long ago. However, until ANet is ready to not only understand this but also to do so, it will most likely need some "new and many more" contributions to this topic. It is basically only a matter of time, and ANet has a lot of it, right? :) This means that with EoD everything will be different, in other words, we'll get all the things we haven't experienced or haven't been allowed to experience until now! You are surely as excited as I am, aren't you? *sarcasm/irony off
  13. When we talk about GW2 PvP in 2020, at least the Clown Fest is decent! Otherwise nothing will come for a long time (anymore). How many games do you experience where you say, "WoW, that was a good match that was actually fun? Far too few for my taste! Even Duo-Q, i.e. pre-made groups can end up in an absolute clown fiesta. Why? Because at least one player may want to be carried through the game. In the worst case, both are bad. I have also experienced games often enough where they have contributed to everything, except winning the game. And such games, see here > Premade Groups <, there are also far too often. The different divisions now play a role in only a few cases. You can find them everywhere, the Clown Fest! ANet wants it this way, and this is how it is done! So to say, to do the maximum minimum to experience the biggest and the best clown festival (and even for free). :) But, hey... with EoD everything will be different! B) *sarcasm off
  14. Definitely the wrong time to play GW2 PvP again. The state of PvP has never been worse than at the moment! Regardless of the balance and small or bigger "changes" (...), too many players (good, advanced, top players and veterans) have quit PvP or left the game completely. And rightly so! What you find is like a circus where monkeys and donkeys throw a party together. But who is surprised? ANet has done everything for this, which is also reflected in the increasing "toxicity" (which seems new to you in GW2 PvP). They do (sooner or later), don't worry! :) But the real fun in this game mode has been "killed" long ago, not just for a few days or months! In the end ANet has to answer for this state of affairs, that means, is responsible (for the bad mood). Those who don't take 2/3 of their own game (and thus 2/3 of their company) as well as their customers (all, not only the PvE part) seriously (or much too late), reap scorn and mockery, justifiably. Enclosed, welcome back (let's see how long)! :)
  15. How about a brawl with fists? Hello, I mean it's 2020, ANet could start to get more creative like some of their players, right? And if someone hits too hard, ANet weakens this half a year later with a BIG balance patch, no? Possibly another suggestion. Open the PvP menu, pick any map in "hot-join" that is completely empty, say no players, and then ... stand on a point and wait. You can bunker that point (or another) all day long until someone comes and attacks you. So easy! Short question by the way, what is "movility"?
  16. Thanks in advance :) , but could you please change the title to (something like that): GW2 PvP could be amazing, if ...
  17. It is only the main page, all other pages do not seem to be affected.
  18. First I had read the "proposed changes", but then I read the upper part ... I had to smile, and I still do. :) I will only mention those suggestions which (at first for me personally) are quite ok, i.e. would agree with them. The others, well ... without any further comment (for now)! :) Nevertheless, there would be a lot more changes that would need to be noted or explained. First of all I recommend to change the "3 initiative trait" as a baseline. Basically this change is long overdue, especially to allow more build variety. There is basically no build (rather pvp/wvw related) that does not show "trickery" as a "must have". AND only when this change was made, further adjustments would be made (concerning e.g. the initiative costs). In general: I consider many changes "on the fly", especially concerning the balancing, to be counterproductive and a mistake (if they can't or couldn't be tested at all before). Why this behaviour is still maintained, by the developer or some people who make suggestions, is probably due to the fact that the frequency of "balance patches" is basically uncertain (or more unfriendly expressed, still just bad - no offense, that's the GW2 policy)! And to add to this: Nothing will change this chaos or the behavior if there are no fundamental changes to the balance mechanism, which makes more possible than what we experience again and again. Consequently, we (continue to) take what we can get or what is possible (until Sleeping Beauty awakes from her sleep). Misbehavior: Better to make many changes at once, which might make the class or specialization unplayable (or even OP, in the worst case), rather than taking smaller steps, but more often! I don't think it would be necessary to explain this "known" fact, right? I also think it's a big mistake to make adjustments that "take something away" from someone (which has long been a common standard or doesn't hit the point just to tone something down). For example, the stealing range or the port range. For example, the initiative cost for "Death's Retreat" was adjusted (a longer time ago) so that you can only port 2 times instead of 3 times. If at all, I would start with that (initiative management), but not as suggested by "the current top players of GW2 PvP Community"! And also I would only consider this if the "Baseline +3 Initiative" was updated as general (and not reduced to a trait, called "Preparedness").
  19. Well, this post (whether it's a joke or serious) gives an insight ... what goes wrong or causes headaches. No offense (do not take it personally). But based on these suggestions, I would tend to recommend that PvP be completely abolished! Then, yes, then it is "casual" enough - no? According to such posts you can see how far ANet has managed to make the game (or the mode) what it is today, a pure clown fiesta. :) How about having a golem as an opponent where you don't have to move to destroy it? Just press 1 1 1 all the time! ANet, the game could be so easy, do something!
  20. But, but... wait a moment. Won't the "Steam release or their Community" fix the game? Well, I thought that was the case - until now. :) *Whoever finds sarcasm is free to keep it. ;)
  21. What the reason is, I can tell you. The current circumstances or the outdated PvP system is supposed to make you stop playing PvP, rather sooner than later (maybe the other way). In the meantime the goal is frustration, before (so to say - In the past, when the system was adapted to the circumstances & was working) "having fun competing each other" was the goal. The system (ranked) still works (as intended), just not to the changed circumstances (without going into further detail). And therefore yes, it is bad. :)Probably not much will change, because: "Never change a running system". Little cynical joke on the side! Will anything change? In short: Most likely not! :) Let's say it that way: In the past, the game (modes) was developed and improved, but nowadays it is mainly and to 2/3 (related to the modes) administrated. Here and there a few small minor changes (except the Swiss system), that's it.
  22. Is the creator really serious about his title and commentary or is he just trolling? I am not quite sure.If he is serious, then please "nerf decap thief", immediately! And if only the color bothers him, then please choose another one @ANet. How about pink?
  23. This may answer your question, in some way. Maybe it's worth reading the whole post/discussion?! See: WvW - World Linking & Matchup
