  1. Matchmaking is the major problem in most online games with pvp, and unfortunately GW2 isn't an exception. My first hours in pvp during past weeks were great, until I reached silver 2, silver 3 rank.It seems like all the matches at higher ranks are 500-150, 500-100, either your team totally destroy the enemies and rush all over the map to capture, either you're unlucky and it's the other way around and you're unable to do anything about it. Also, I've had a complete game freeze yesterday just a few minutes after the match started, and it froze my entire computer and forced me to reboot. When I came back, the match was almost over.
  2. What I know is that we've been asking for optimization since launch back in 2012 and we're still asking for it.Now, we could have a small hope that our dreams come true with the upcoming expansion, but nothing currently points towards it.
  3. Let's be crazy and imagine Rangers would use Bowswords. a totally new weapon which combines longbow with greatsword, a bit like Squall's gunblade in final fantasy.
  4. The entire Soulbeast specialization is limiting. You don't fight with a vast majority of pets duos anymore, you don't use pets skills anymore, you don't use bow anymore and need to fight in melee. And the way it works makes all rangers play with the exact same build, spec and pet because it's the only working for high level content.
  5. The must have QOL improvements we need in my opinion : More waypoints in Season 2 of the Living world and HoT Mystic Forge : add a window which would remember all the things we already crafted and an option to select the number of those we want to craft. Achievements window : make it open on the last one we watched instead of always opening on the main page. A dedicated Event and Adventures window where we can see clearly all the events we've completed and all those we never did, including the best score we reached for the Adventures . Ability to skip all cutscenes and dialogues from Season 2 of the Living World, HoT etc because it's really annoying to lose time and be obliged to watch and listen to all of it over and over again when playing it again to complete achievements When using salvage items, give the option to recycle all items of the same color / quality at once or to select multiple items we want to salvage instead of needing to manually click on each item one by one._ Add a real combat / damage log where we can see exactly what killed us, how much damage we received from which skill / condition etc. And, finally, change the game and classes description to inform all players that there is no ranged class and all professions end up being melee fighters because whatever.
  6. I stopped playing one year or maybe two years after launch, for a lot of reasons including the fact that I couldn't play my elementalist the way I wanted to if I wanted to be efficient in pve or pvp.One of the things I loved with GW was that I could play the way I wanted with my Elem, except for some specific missions or high-end elite areas. And it was the first mmorpg which made me want to play another class, and I did a Ritualist which I could also play the way I wanted in 90% of the game content. This wasn't the case with Gw2 at launch, and it still doesn't seem to be the case now neither, and that's why I don't really like these "elite specs".Also, to dive a bit deeper in the subject, gw had a marvelous and rare gameplay mechanic which required players to hunt down and steal elite skills from bosses all over the world, to make them stronger. We also had the Ascension which allowed us to bring our avatars closer to gods by allowing them a second class.Which means that our characters really grew in strength, power and knowledges long after reaching max level. Now, after two expansions, two new elite specs for each class, our characters are not more powerful, they're just useful in a different way but still limited with only 3 possible active specializations, making the previous time invested and specs useless, and even requiring to change weapons in order to be efficient. It doesn't make sense at all for me. They did it because it's easier for sure. But the easy path is not always the best. Balance isn't a matter of gameplay mechanics, it's a matter of skills, damages, numbers, and they have all the control on these to balance the game even if they allowed 4 specs, because all players could have them.So it's a false argument.
  7. Coming back to the game after years without playing it, I don't find any interesting "Elite Specialization" for my characters. Elem can chose between support spec and weird double affinity spec, neither of them feeling attractive, and my recently leveled up ranger can pick .. between support healer and weird pokemon spec which makes you turn into one of your pets. First, none of them do justice to these 2 classes in my opinion, but moreover, I find it totally dumb that we need to replace one of our older specs in order to choose a new one. It feels like your character suddenly forget what he was able to do and which abilities and strengths you spent hours improving and masterizing just to get lost in a new strange way.It would make sense and really feel like an improvement and boost of power if they added a fourth slot to use the new spec, but no. So for now I just keep playing with my basic skills and abilities with both of my lv80 characters
  8. Yes I heard about it, I will give it a try, but I still believe Arenanet should work on that for the next expansion and all players would benefit from it.I'm also pretty sure 100% of gw2 players use dx11 / 12 capable gpus, so it would be a total win for everybody. Thanks for your reply anyway
  9. Using dx9 was relevant in 2012 because it was cheap and fast for them to work with it, and because most pc owners were still running on it.Nowadays, even computers from public / poor schools use at least directx 11. And it's not just a question of directx, but the whole engine need what is called optimization, because it's not acceptable to have modern online games with high-end graphics running way better than an 8 years-old one. I play with an i7 4770K and gtx 980 Ti and 16 gb of ram on an ssd, and the game runs mostly great as long as you play solo and story mode. The problem is that gw2 is an mmorpg, which is meant and designed to be played with other players, in big fights and events. And when a lot of other titles offer better graphics and smoother gameplay than your game, even if they're brand new and played on the same computers than your game, it make players go play the other titles instead of yours. The fps drops in events etc were understandable at launch, or even some months, years after, but they're not anymore today. With a computer like mine and a lot of others less powerful, we should be able to do all the content of the game with constant 60 fps considering it uses dx9 and a more than ten years old engine. You can pick any other old online game using dx9, it will run perfectly on almost all computers with more than 100 fps. Aion, Tera, Neverwinter, they were all developed with dx9.There are even some studios which decided to stop support for dx9 computers and still made a ton of money and happy players.
  10. Hi there, so this is a very honest congratulations to Arenanet for expanding, improving and making gw2 a better game throughout the year, along with a high-five for being able to do so and keep people playing it for so long by working on everything but the one that ruined the whole experience at launch and still does today, 8 years after :let me introduce you to guild wars 2's graphic engine. So when the game came out, it couldn't handle epic fights with more than 30 fps whenever it involved more than 5 players using skills against more than 5 enemies, even with high-end computer. But imagine my surprise when, coming back almost 10 years after, to realize that during all this time, not a single improvement to the engine was made.It wasn't able to deal with dynamic events when there are enough players to actually do and succeed the event in 2012, and it still isn't able to do so today. No matter which gpu / cpu you play with. all the flaws and limits of the engine we had in 2012 are still there.Arenanet developers did a lot of work on evrerything, and even if I don't like all of it, my overall experience of the game is way better from what it was when I first played it, and this is amazing. But I'm just really wondering how could everybody at Anet read about all players complaining about their game's poor performances for nearly a decade without ever trying to fix it.I mean almost all big online game studios upgraded their graphic engines so they could benefit from new technologies and hardware / software / api improvements, but gw2 's engine remain exactly the same that it was day one. And in a world of cloud gaming, cloud computing, rtx, vulkan, directx 12, machine learning techs and evolving AIs, with direct competitors using modern stunning graphics, I really can't find a single good reason why they didn't work on that yet.Either the graphic engine is so broken there is no way they could improve it, either all those who knew the engine forgot or left. Now that they've announced a third expansion coming, it means that they don't plan to let it die yet, so I think it would be the perfect time for them to really work on the engine and give it the improvements and upgrades it deserves and desperately needs.By doing so, they would attract a lot of new players, make old players come back, make current players happy, and it would grant gw2 a second life of success and fame and allow it to remain popular and active for five more years at least. On the contrary, adding content will give them few months of popularity, but won't be enough to keep it alive five more years.
  11. I don't think there's any real fight here. I didn't follow gw2 since a few years, but from what I see it has evolved very well and still has more to offer than most other titles on the market (in my opinion at least). It's more a question of what gw2 staff want to do with the game and the story and where they want to make it happen, with which characters etc from what I understand. I just know that back then, some people hated factions because of some flaws and even warned new players that it would be a travel in hell during the whole campaign, but I loved it and enjoyed every bit, because it had lot of charms that the other campaigns didn't, and which we don't find in gw2.And I really hope that we won't have to wait Guild Wars 3 to visit cantha and elona again.
  12. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat ?? I'm coming back on gw2 after 5-6 years without really playing it, and still no Cantha ? This need to be fixed please guys. We know creating new designs and maps takes time and resources, but as a big lover of the first guild wars as many others, I think this part of the world is crucial and we should definitely have a look and see how it changed and evolved. I mean, who wouldn't want to see what happened of the Jade Sea ? How the new Kaineng city looks like ?It's basically where human life began on the continent and could give us awesome story content. We don't have any news from them since hundred years, and since we defeated Zhaitan nothing should prevent us from going there again.GW has always been one of my favourite mmo, not only because I met awesome friends playing it, but also because it kinda had three hearts beating during Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns. Eye of the North made these hearts get cold for them to travel through the pantheon until guild wars 2, but now that we've warmed them up, they need to go back to the source. Also, think about all the awesome designs and new skins etc Cantha would bring us
  13. Hey there, just came back in Tyria after a few years on other worlds, and I was very disappointed to notice this problem. The game engine and overall graphics are old enough, but all new players or new characters have to go through all these "cinematics" with low resolution videos and ruined cutscenes which seem like you're watching an old very little tv.It's probably not the main concern of Arenanet, but I think it doesn't give a good feeling if you need to wait the Expansions in order to enjoy the game fully on wide screens.Ten years ago, wide screens were not as popular as they are now, but unless they're almost ready for GW3, I'm pretty sure the time and development investment would be very much appreciated by everybody.
