  1. Wow, this problem has been a thing for a while, and it's still here? This is ridiculous, I thought it might have just been me, but I run other online games smoothly with 90 ping at most, and even GW 2 the highest I've ever experienced until PoF maps, is 120, which isn't terrible. But I agree, when there's a 3 second delay in between my movements/skills/anything I'm doing, I'm pretty much going to rate the game unplayable. Definitely not telling any of my friends to get PoF until this is fixed. Clearly, it's not a "Player Problem", but something Anet hasn't seemed to fix since February ffs....
  2. I don't mind the underwater combat so much. As you said, adds another layer of gameplay. The problem with underwater combat (at least for me) lies within the abilities you get, either feeling sub-par to absolutely useless, with how weak some of the skills are compared to fighting on land. You're also extremely limited in the amount of weapons you can use underwater as well. (Trident, spear, speargun) If I didn't have Minions on my Necro/Reaper, I don't think I'd really be effective at killing anything in the water, as the cooldowns are insanely long, and my basic attacks don't do a whole lot. My opinion of course.
  3. Ultimately, I don't think race/class really matters too much. Honestly, I rarely see people use racial skills at all. The only reason I would ever see anyone use them, is simply because they're left with no other options at that specific time. The second you start getting new skills to slot into your hotbar, say goodbye to those racial abilities. They'll seldom be used. Although, Charr's racial ability is fun. I mean Rocket launchers are cool. That being said, ever since the Beta/Launch of the game, I've always made Sylvari characters. This is simply due to the fact, it's not your "normal" looking Elven race, especially when it was going to be at the beginning, but the art designers decided against being generic, and I'm pleased with my Salad people. I'd say Charr, and Asura characters are neat, but they've pretty much been overdone/used in every Mmorpg' in existence. Asura= Gnomes/Dwarves, and Charr, well I've played Guild Wars 1, so they're not new to me at all. To each their own though. Again, I doubt Racial Skills make the world of a difference, especially like I said, once you get other skills later on, you're just going to replace them. I'd say the Races really only matter if you're looking for the personal stories, which take you up until level 40 ish, I think....? Then everything else is the same for every race, no matter which you are. Either or, hope you enjoy Guild Wars 2, it's a great game. It's even nice of Anet to basically give you a "Free Demo" (full base game, with some restrictions) before you decide if you want to purchase the expansions, and find out of the game is for you or not.
  4. I'm not going to read through everyone's comment on this matter, too lazy. Upon my returning to Guild Wars 2 a few months ago, and I myself never delved into the expansions, other than Path of Fire's first mission in order to get a mount, I made a new character (Necromancer), bought all the living stories, and set a goal in mind to complete the base game/expansions in order. I mention this in particular, because it gave me a fair grasp on how to better play the Necromancer, which skills/weapons to mess around, I even asked around in the forums, and tested a multiple variety of weapons/styles, until I actually found one, most Necromancers don't even touch, but it suited my playstyle, and I eventually got fairly good at it, to the point I could solo most anything. That point aside, I soon found myself diving into Heart of Thorns for the first time, trying to obtain Hero Points/Mastery Points. My goal this time was to become, or at the very least test out the Reaper Sub Class. As such, I did so, and thought I had a fairly good grasp on how to play the class until I did get into Heart of Thorns (HoT). I got my ass handed to me so much so, that I actually came to the forums to ask for help, and see what I was doing wrong. Again people told me to use certain builds, weapons, etc, etc. I honestly didn't find them too much fun, and thought I could further enhance the style I was already used to, only this time, it would take actually getting to learn the Reaper Skills better. I noticed one of my biggest issues when transitioning to Heart of Thorns, was that I wasn't "Weapon Swapping" nearly as much as I should have been, and this was one of, if not my biggest issue. Unlike Heart of Thorns, everything else can pretty much be done using one hotbar of skills, or so I find. Heart of Thorns definitely pushed, and tested my limitations, but once I got into the habit of swapping my hotbars, every chance I could, making use of multiple heal/buffs, etc etc. Heart of Thorns honestly posed no challenge for me at all. I was able to sustain myself, I went through other people's suggestions, and found my own particular build that I messed around with, and enjoy. I was able to solo pretty much ALL of the Hero points, if not all of them because I kept trying to improve upon the build I liked, with a few tweaks here and there. Honestly, if you're a Reaper sub class, and trying ONLY to make Reaper skills work, that's where it's going to bite you the hardest I think. Tons of people told me to go "Staff/Greatsword" with my Reaper, but I just couldn't make that work myself. Instead my build consists of Dagger/Ward, and Great Sword. This allows for some great crippling moves on enemies, to help sustain my health over the period of time it takes for the CD's to wear-off. I also still run with Minions to tank/sustain my health as well with each of their hits giving me health. Anyways, topic for Class forums. Point is, try optimizing a playstyle suited for yourself, and if you're not making use of weapon swapping/hotbar swapping, again was one of my biggest issue's. Also as mentioned, don't just try too make use of ONLY your Reaper skills. Base Necro skills are very much still a thing. I do however agree on some Hero Points being absolute trash to obtain. Like the "Bacon" Hero point you mentioned. I actually had to look up, and do some research on that myself, which boiled down to eating food for buffs. It took me a few attempts to actually do it even with food buffs, and while I think the concept of obtaining a Hero point through draining your life is interesting, probably could be a little more lenient. Anyways these are just my thoughts, dunno if it helps any, or if someone else mentioned something like this or not, as I said, not reading through every comment here.
  5. I mean I seen some of Summit's stream last night. I wonder why no one is pointing out the MAIN thing he was LOOKING forward to was the PVP. Summit had absolutely no interest in playing the story, as he skipped absolutely everything, all while saying he was mainly doing the Story and Events, to get the hang of the gameplay. In my opinion the only thing Summit would stick around for is the Structured PvP, because World VS World, (At least in Stormbluff Isle) is dead. Of course not literally, but if you're only seeing 3-5 groups of 10 players here and there across all of World vs World, that's not very interesting. Summit will most likely play Structured PvP, and even then I'm not sure how active it is. Also, Summit doesn't give two craps about skins and stuff being Cash Shop based. The Dev's already sent him expansion pack codes for free via his email. Gotta love those "Streamer Benefits" right? First Black Lion Box he did open without spending a dime though, he got the new Legendary Mount Skin, that was pretty cool.
  6. I straight up read none of this except the title.... This may be wrong but let me explain.... Warrior used to be a beast Solo, or in a party. easily doing more damage then any other class in early stages. This was due to being able to kite bosses with rifles with Bleeding doing mass amounts of damage, and before they nerfed the entire "Seed Healing Turret", where you could bring multiple items with you, where you could solo champions, and even event bosses. This is what made me delete my lvl 80 warrior, and Guardian, because these two classes got nerfed so far into the ground a few months/years after launch, it became almost unbearable to play these two classes. Thus, creating new classes. I'm not too sure how it is now, but from what I've seen, Melee Rangers. and even Revenants/Renegades (DoT) can do WAY more damage than warriors. I almost see absolutely no Warriors now, unless it's a new player who's trying to learn how to play for the first time, because no one in their right mind would choose a warrior over any other class. I've even seen how engineers work, and despite their lack of damage, at least their support roles outwiegh the roles of a warrior in any matter, whether it comes to damage, or support. Warriors are absolute trash, and at this point, should just entirely be removed from the game, or reworked until they are viable again. This is just me speaking from someone who's went from Launch Warrior, to the Warriors now. It's sad that no one wants a warrior in their party, and they're considered a "Lowbie Class".
  7. Honestly, if Aion Online wasn't dead, and NCsoft didn't screw up so much with that game, I would still be playing that one, and I would consider that one to be the "Best" in terms of gameplay, and how innovative it was. At least Guild Wars 2 is finally getting with the "Times", and added Quality of life features, like mounts, and Gliding I guess. I do like Guild Wars 2 for what it is, but back in the old days of Aion online, the PvP via rifting, and abyss air combat got incredibly intense at times. Sadly, the game is all but dead, and rifting got ruined. I miss those "Chipie and Irad" days.
  8. I mean, In a world where death essentially doesn't exist, (at least for the player characters), it might be nice to go out and experience what dying actually feels like, only to come back to life. Though, in a world where you'd never die, I think it might get boring after a while. My character(s) life right now is pretty interesting thus far considering I still have the expansions/Living Story 3, 4, and the Ice Brood Saga to go through, but I'd imagine it would get down to the point where people who have nothing left to but sign on, and do their dailies would get boring, you know, pretty much a "Rinse and Repeat" cycle. Couldn't imagine doing that for hundreds of years. I feel like one lifetime of waking up, going to work, get's old as is, that's why we have retirement. I do sometimes wonder what having breasts would be like....
  9. Just started Heart of Thorns, and finished Living Story 2, I can safely say, most of my deaths come from the Over Powered monsters, the "Jungle Vines", with their poison shots, that can reach half ways across the map, inflict bleed, and knock you back.
  10. Hello all, So I finally proceeded on with one of my characters through the story, in order as I wanted to go, Living Story 2 (don't own the first one, nor was around much through the first season), and I guess I'd like to share my thoughts. So, before going into Living Story 2, I did the whole recap, to Scarlet Briar, and honestly, it didn't really explain a whole lot, or I was supposed to do some reading, which I clearly don't do enough of, because the "4 new heroes", Taimi, Keesmar, Marjory, and Braham, I had absolutely no clue who they were, and why on earth they were traveling with me, they just kind of existed. In the beginning of Living Story 2, I found myself (Story wise), incredibly bored, as mentioned before, not a clue who any of these characters were, I didn't really care for any of them because no backstories were actually given to me (again could have needed to read). There were hardly any cutscenes in the beginning, and going from core Guild Wars 2 with voice overs, and cinematics through almost everything that was in the game was something I was used to, and something I enjoyed seeing. Sure, the characters didn't have much in terms of animation in core Guild Wars 2, but it was refreshing to sit back, and just enjoy the show, plus I really was, and still am a fan of the motion art that plays in the background while characters talked. This time around, it almost felt like the main character (i.e; ME), felt like a complete mute, having absolutely no voice over this time around, and having to read through a bunch of stuff I didn't care to read, because after I had skipped everything, the voice-overs more or less summed it up after I skipped through the dialogue. Not too sure what really happened there, voice actor quit? Too much money to keep multiple main voice actors aboard? Like I said, it just kind of felt bland, and I found myself skipping a LOT of the dialogue just to get to the end, so I could do something. I was no longer watching, and enjoying something, I was working, to get to the fighting, which honestly did NOT feel like a break I needed, or even wanted, I just wanted to get it over with. As the story progressed, I finally decided to start reading some of the quests again, and found myself more interested in it, right around the time Taimi started to run away with her invention, soon afterwards being ambushed by the inquest, I'm not sure why that was the point I decided to care, maybe it's because it was the point I finally stopped traveling between the cave every 10-20 minutes to check up on her, and the story actually progressed. Soon afterwards came the "Summit", which I still don't understand, and probably missed something huge from the first living story, because again, nothing was really explained, and everyone was just questioning "Why should we help? We need to protect our own people". This made very little sense as to why they were questioning this, everyone had already fought off a great "Evil" once before "Zhaitan", so why would they question themselves again? The threats they speak of were there before Zhaitan was defeated, and still everyone more or less agreed to help, granted majority of the work was from the "Pact" I suppose, however, all races are tied somehow to the pact, and had to spare personel in some which way or another. The whole Summit meeting felt like a waste of time, and again, it was just something I wanted to get through fast, I did "read" all of it, key word "Read", again, something which i felt would have been so much more enjoyable if the main characters voice actors stayed on board, and could be something I could watch, and enjoy, but no, it was reading, and basically having the main characters response to everyone of there questions be, "We've done this before, we can do it again!", and having the Summits response be like, "Okay, good enough for me, let's send in troops again!". It's almost like the writers, and whoever was working on this portion wanted to see it done rather quickly too, that's just how boring it was. Throughout the almost half of the Living Story 2, I was wondering, "What the hell happened to the 4 main characters, Rytlock, Eir, Caithe, Logan, and Trahaerne (as a fifth)", I almost thought I missed something major in Living Story 1, because Logan, and Treahaerne didn't show up until near the end of Living Story 2, I thought maybe they were dead or something, I know not a lotta people would care for either of those characters, but still, they were there throughout all of the Core Game, and suddenly, just no where to be seen. It was really odd. I think I really started to enjoy the story, when the main characters started to show up again, it was no longer, "Hey, let's go on an adventure random people who I know nothing about!", back to, "Oh hey we killed Zhaitan together, if anyone can bring down Mordremoth, it's probably this badass group that did something like it before". It almost feels like, ArenaNet, or whoever wrote the story realized just how much nobody cared for these new characters, and decided to bring back the old ones, that people actually cared about, who actually had backstories (again, new characters were probably mentioned somewhere, but not from what I've seen). It also felt like the main character (Me), was trying to replace Trahaerne, and Destiny's edge throughout the entire story. The main Character (Me), is now Trahaerne, Rox, is Rytlock, Braham is Eir, Taimi is Zojja, and Kasmeer, and Marjory, well, I know more about Kasmeer than I do Marjory, at least from Countess Anise's perspective, nothing was really mentioned about Marjory, her sister who no one cared about either (Belinda) died, and her soul was infused with her sword, which then Marjory took, and BAM, she's a Reaper now, that's about what I got out of it, other than she's Kasmeer's "Lover", at least I think that's what's happening between those two. I think the real fun to be had here in Living Story 2, was playing through the eye's of Caithe. Cutscene's started to come back, I could sit back and enjoy stuff, and playing through Caithe's story actually gave me a way more in depth story about her character, so much so, that I actually wanted to keep playing as her, and find out a heck of a lot more about the Sylvari (my favorite race). Overall, the story went from boring me to sleep, and just in general swapping to play different characters, to something that has me interested to see what lies ahead of me in Heart of Thorns. I'm guessing the Main character wont' have voice acting still, so... I'm not setting my hopes too high. Anyways these are just my thoughts on Living Story 2. The ending leading into Heart of Thorns was entertaining, I'd love to see a more in depth look at the main characters through their eyes. It kind of feels like maybe ArenaNet tried to tell their stories through the dungeons a little bit in Core Guild Wars 2, but it failed horribly, and they wanted to test something new out, which was fantastic, if they wanna replace dungeons for stuff like that, I'd totally be down for it.
  11. Hello all, So this is pretty old, but I just started doing the Living Stories now, just finished an Event I had to do for "Uprooting The Iron Marches", which was to save 10 workers from vines, and I have to say, this is the most poorly designed quest I've ever run into, in this entire game so far. So, on my Necro/Reaper, I'm having no real issues with the story so far mechanically speaking, until it came to this. At first, I thought oh, there's quite a few vines, my minions are probably just dying, then I started to notice, every time I was actually rooted, or captured in vines, ALL my minions, would just go away, and die, which hey, that's fine, started to continue on with the quest, and everytime I was getting vined, found it quite frustrating after a while my minions would just disappear, every ten seconds. Then I noticed, not only did they disappear, the cooldowns actually RESET, forcing me to wait 10-30 seconds to summon my minions again. This is incredibly frustrating, because the build I have my minions are my damage, and when I'm vined, I can't do nothing but spam 1, and pray to god, that the bleed damage, the wolves, or the insane amount of damage the bigger vines do chunking my HP everytime one of their poison shots hits me, nearly killing me instantly while I'm left to do absolutely nothing but wait and die. I'm sorry, but it really doesn't seem like anyone actually tested this quest out, and Anet was kind of under the impression, "Well, people are always going to be doing this, or around, so... what the heck, let's just leave it as is, there's NO WAY, someone would ever be forced to SOLO this....". That's exactly what I'm thinking the thought process is on this quest. I did manage to beat it, but the mechanics of this, especially when it comes to a Necromancer's minions is terribly thought out.
  12. Why on earth can't you turn them off? I just finally got to a point where I'm doing Living Stories, and expansions, and this is really annoying. it's funny when I started to type this in google, and it literally came up with this topic, front page, first topic. Why is it still a thing? Is it really that hard to add a "Disable" notifications in options? They have these for other things. Total Turn Off.
  13. I'm sorry that it is giving you motion sickness, but asking for "less jumping" in a platformer game mode is just ridiculous (and selfish in this case). Then, there should be a way to earn the weapon skins, items, and currency via some other means, other than just buying them off the market place, because that would just be unfair asking players to buy something, that only a certain amount of people would be able to earn through doing such a mode. It's not like it's the players fault they get motion sickness. Happens to quite a few people. That would be the alternative. Unless you want the infantile mode to just be walking from point A, to point B, in which case, no one in their right mind would even bother with the long, and pointless jump puzzle to begin with, if everything was just handed to them on a silver platter. (Basically what infantile mode is to begin with, but not as exaggerated).
  14. I simply come back to Guild Wars 2 after a few years here and there to check out what's new, and to see how long it'll keep me occupied. Also, with a massive lack of Mmorpg's out right now, and due to me currently in general just being bored of everything, I'm hitting up some older games I've played, both single player, and Multiplayer games, this being one of them. It's kind of a feeling where I'm just trying to fill a gap while waiting for something new to come by, in this case, it's Phantasy Star Online 2 (Western PC release), which should keep me occupied for a while, though having played the japanese version, it's hard to say if that will even keep my attention long enough. I might end up just sticking with Guild Wars 2 for a while, and try to rack up them Mastery Points/Mounts. I did after all come back, and purchase the Living Story bundle (s2-s4), and haven't touched a single expansion, aside getting the raptor mount, even when I did purchase the expansions day one of release for both of them. So, there's no real shortage of stuff for me to do in Guild Wars 2. It's just a matter of getting the motivation, to do them.
  15. I mean... all I see is "No Anime", and "No Furries". I'm sorry, did we NOT just have a month long event dedicated to unrealistic stuff as well? Glitched Weapons. Take a look at all the other crazy stuff added into Guild Wars 2 over the years. I just ran a dungeon not too long ago with someone who shot Rainbow Unicorns out of their bow. And people are worried about a "Tail Accessory".... Really? Everyone is aware that "Anime" consists of dragons, and other fantasy creatures as well, right? (Looking at you Skyscale, and pretty much every other mount in the game) Guild Wars 2 in my opinion has become nothing more than a game focused around cosmetics, there wouldn't really be a reason not to have something new to show off. If all this stuff bothers people who think it ruins immersion, simply avoid those others, and stay in your small communities you have. Cosmetics don't need to bother you at all.
  16. Still does not change the fact of the matter, it doesn't work properly in some story instances. When in combat, you simply can't and the triangles above the utility bar are not visible. I don't know why I would try that. I've already tested it when reviving the dead Npc's, both in, and out of combat as mentioned. Out of combat, I've healed them the maximum amount per "Tick", whilst in combat, I healed very minor. The running speed while in combat was still 25% slower, but out of combat was 25% slower than the running speed I should have been at out of combat.Well since you did not even know how the trait works, there is a risk that your observations are wrong. That's why I suggested further validation. Feel free to submit a ticket in the bug report section:https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/categories/bugs%3A-game-forum-website The devs are checking these reports. But this does not mean that everything gets fixed immediately. One of my reports got fixed within 2 weeks, another one I wrote more than half a year ago is not fixed until today. The heck are you talking about? The trait CLEARLY Says "Move 25% faster while wielding at least one dagger." Both in game, AND the Wiki. I know very well how this trait is supposed to work, and it does not. Further more, having the exact same thing happen on my Renegade during story instances, proves, it's not just one character, or class that has this issue. I'm in no way suggesting it's a massive problem that needs to be fixed ASAP, I'm simply stating, it's annoying, and very much noticeable to people who are used to having character with quick mobility skills/traits. I'm about to do the story yet again on an Engineer, and I'm guessing the same thing, in the same story scenario's is going to occur, yet again.
  17. Hello all, So after I've leveled my Renegade, and Necro/reaper to lvl 80+, I decided to start out an Engineer, as I really do like things such as deployables, and remember way back when, Engi's had kits, and all types of different things at their disposal. Now I'm not too sure what to think about it, just starting out. I got to level 10 easily enough, was looking forward to swapping weapons from pistols to rifles, to maximize my early damage output, seeing as I don't have any kits or anything yet, and realized you can't swap weapons in combat. Why is this? The only possible reason I could think of, is due to engineer having nothing but ranged weapons. However, this pretty much immediately made me want to stop playing my Engineer because of how lackluster it's feeling right now. I thought about using one of my "insta level 80" items, but I rather enjoy learning my classes, and working my way up to level 80, getting used to the skills gradually. So, again, what's the point of limiting Engineer's weapon swap, to just outside of combat?
  18. Bump! Second run through of Zone 1, all 3 stages. Thought I'd keep a record of what I actually got, due to those whole "Roll Back" issue, which seems to be going more viral the the Covid-19, at least on these forums. Not sure what the roll back is doing exactly, or if I'm going to lose my two glitched weapons, maybe Anet can do something about that, maybe not. Either or, my "Monster Hunter Luck" is continuing to work it's magic. Dunno what I do with that super box though, won't lemme double click it. (Also youtubed the glitch locations.... shame..... SHAME!!!!)
  19. So the Red version is the rarest one? The person who ran me through it, pretty much said I'd missed out since the chests are daily, and I didn't really start doing it until I was bored (yesterday), it's no particular big loss to me, and was fun the first time around. However, hard to believe they haven't added anything new in a while. Doesn't it just get boring, and repetitive after a while?
  20. Hello all, So, finally got my Necromancer/Reaper to do world compeltion/Core story (92 hours total), and I couldn't decide what to do after that, I was originally going to create another character, despite me not having any mastery points past 18, or having touched the Living Stories/Expansions outside of what little I did on my Renegade, where i initially got bored of the jumping stuff, and soon after left to make my Necro/reaper. When I just decided to give Super Adventure Box a shot, considering there's only 2 days left. Now, I remember SAB when it came out, and having barely touched it, not remembering a whole lot of it either, but this time, I decided to really give it a shot. So, I threw up an advertisement in LFG, just to see if most people run this solo., or in a group. I suppose a couple others joined me, and one person in particular basically ran me through the entire thing, since I'm not really an Achievement person type, I said Ok (shout out to Felcioud). We ran through World 1, Zone three which is where I last started off, from my previous attempt solo, got outside the boss room, and the person told me they'd go and get a "Glitch". I still have absolutely no clue where they went, but was soon after told it's how you obtain glitch boxes, which I read on the forums, of having a rare weapon drop or something. Interestingly enough, I was looking at the weapon skins, and thought about making an Engineer, as I was pretty sure they can use a shield and pistol, I could be wrong... Either or, I was looking at the shield, and it actually looked pretty neat. Well...... That's what I got after killing the Frog. Suppose it's my "Monster Hunter Luck" kicking in. My friends usually hate me in that game as well, because I get absolutely everything they're looking for usually first attempts as well. Don't want to sound like I'm bragging, I just thought it was interesting, the thing I was thinking of buying once I had enough Baubbles, popped up first successful run (only failed the boss once before). And then Felcioud ran me through World 2, where I didn't get nothing. Just baubbles. Anyways, this event is kind of fun, I did ask the person who ran me through it if the SAB maps were different from year to year, they said it's the same maps. Which is kind of disappointing if that's true, because, I actually enjoyed this, especially the Super Mario Bros 2 (Waterfall Log level) Level. Now I suppose I need to start exploring this mode for real to find the "Glitches", or google them, one of the two. Now I want the Boom Box.
  21. The running speed while in combat was still 25% slower, but out of combat was 25% slower than the running speed I should have been at out of combat.
  22. Hello all, This should probably, and will most likely get moved to the Necro forums, but I figured the general discussion is where the majority of people would see it, thus, I'm posting it here. So quickening thirst on the Necromancer in some Solo/Story instances does not function as it's meant to. I purely use this trait, to move 25% faster while using, and or at the very least carrying a dagger, as I value my mobility almost above all else. I've noticed in more than one story scenario, that this trait in particular just won't activate, and for the most part, I'm kept a normal walking speed, and or, the game thinks I'm in "Combat" non stop. I've just finished "The Battle Of Fort Trinity" again, and the skill was working just fine before entering Trinity, out of fun, I was trying to kill all the giants (9 of them), which I did, maybe I would have gotten a neat achievement.... Nope. point is, the speed enhancement was woking perfectly fine, and this skill even stays active while i'm IN COMBAT, thus combat mode only puts me into a "Regular" walking/running speed, where as upon entering Fort Trinity for this mission, the speed boost was never activated once, I walked/ran normally, and whenever I entered combat mode, I lost 25% speed. I figured this must just be maybe because the Fort was all up in smoke, thinking it was miasma, but, there is no debuff on me, no damage was being taken, my minions were always by my side, near absolutely no monsters, in no way or form was I in combat mode. I even checked by healing allies in, and out of combat mode, healing them fully (resurrecting), while outside of combat mode, and half as much while in combat mode. I'm someone who enjoys speedy classes, and I tend to use them over powerhouses in this game, so when I noticed even a 25% speed decrease after being quick for so long, it's actually irritating. I'm not sure if this was intended or not, and maybe not too many people notice this throughout Story instances, but I do, and it's annoying. Just something I thought I'd share, since I've noticed this on BOTH my Necro/Reaper, and Rev/Renegade classes.
  23. With the lack of Mmorpg's lately, it's hard to see how the mmorpg's that are still alive, aren't really doing anything "New". This is especially true with Guild Wars 2. It's been essentially the same for 8 years. While I don't mind what Guild Wars 2 is trying to do, keeping the level 80 as max, and only having cosmetic items to reach for "end game", the only real thing I can say they've changed was adding mounts, and gliders, which other games have done far before Guild Wars 2. It's like Guild Wars 2, is trying to play "Catch Up" in a manner that won't irritate their current player base, but at the same time, it's barely bringing in any new players at all, and those who are new, are only looking to quench their thirst for an Mmorpg, and will soon move on afterwards. The progression "End Game" seems to be (from what people have told me in game, and forums), is get mastery points, mounts, craft Legendaries, etc etc. I have to admit, the crafting system in Guild Wars 2 at launch, before Fractals was even a thing was amazing, at least coming from someone who doesn't particularly enjoy crafting in mmoprg's to begin with. It was simple, didn't take too much time, and within an hour at most, you were back on your way with new gear, and back in action. Crafting Legendaries, and "Mastery Points" going around unlocking mounts, and other perks (to me anyways), feels like a God Awful chore now. I bought the Living expansion bundle, before reading up on how you go about getting the Skyscale, probably a mistake a on my part but lesson learned. Skyscale sounds like an extremely LONG, and BORING Process of the game, much like crafting Legendary gear. Sure, it's meant to be an achievement, and those of you who have these things should feel good about yourselves, but for those of us who don't really enjoy dedicated time to these long and arduous tasks, it kind of kills the fun of the game, and feel pretty burnt out in no time, seeing as this is what "End Game" is. (I won't lie though, I seen someone with a Bow that shoots out Unicorns, that made my day in a dungeon). During the launch, or beginning of Guild Wars 2, I found it awesome, that I didn't really have to do anything to level up quickly, and that the experience gain for each level was essentially the same process, and the time it took to go from one level to another, was the same. That being said, I tried a few dungeons early on, and without the "holy trinity" system which at the time was Guild Wars 2 "Major" thing they had going for them, it was neat, that was until you realized all the dungeons soon afterwards almost always had at least one member who was focused more towards being a "Water Elementalist" due to the fact they were one of the only classes that could heal decently. After beating a couple of dungeons, and coming to the conclusion I wasn't really rewarded with anything special for doing them, and the lack of a "LFG Finder", and the remainder of the lack of it, I wasn't about to wait around spamming "LFG" in map/world chat all day trying to wait for people to do dungeons that didn't matter, nor handed out anything different than just continuing on with the game. Having just come back, i am NOW just starting to do the Story Dungeons, mainly to see what I was missing out on, which doesn't turn out to me much. The exploration dungeons might be different I don't know, and can't say I'm all to "hyped" to even try it out to begin with. Even when the Fractals came out for the first time, I didn't see much point in doing them, and I don't think I still do. Hopping back on from time to time is fine and all, and I remember when "Karma" used to be the only other form of currency, other than Gold. Now when I open up my wallet it's like "Wow...." All these different types of currency are just shoved right in front of your face, and you kind of get the feeling, "What did I really miss? And how important are all these different kinds of curency?" The amount of currency there is now seems just silly, it's like every year the game has been alive, they decided to throw in another random form of currency and say "It's content, have fun!", while almost nothing else changed. I'm pretty sure I was around (on and off again) for the first Living Story, or whenever Lions Arch went through it's first change, soon after left, came back a couple years later, only to find out that the Living Stories that were said to be a "one time" thing, are actually now accessible through paying money for them. (And or accessing them for free during the events, which I'm doing with Icebrood Saga), even now, I haven't touched a single Icebrood Saga story as of yet, or whatever I got from it anyways. Well, these of course are my opinions, I could be wrong, as I am not incredibly experienced with this game. All I know is not much has changed in 8 years, a few new "Elite Specilizations", Mounts, 20 types of different currency I have no clue what any of them do, and I guess "Raids and Strikes", but for the most part, I hear nothing good about either of them, and a very small portion of people actually do them. Now would be a perfect time for a game like Guild Wars 2 to change, again with the lack of Mmorpg's. Only a few on the way, and I think that's all it will take to take some players away. I know at the end of this month, I'm hopping on Phantasy Online 2. Played the Japanese version, but even that game is around 8 years old, and still added a crap ton of more content than Guild Wars 2, and it's free. Guild Wars 2 is simply me killing time until the English Release of PSO 2 on PC. And I'm really trying to get into GW 2 again before then. I'm having fun with my new Minionmancer/Reaper build, almost finished the Story again, and will soon move onto the Living stories and expansions, but not too sure how long that will keep me going. I personally think, Guild Wars 2 is struggling to find what kind of game it is. And like I said, it's trying to appeal mainly to their current playerbase, and just doing "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", which again, is good and all, but the very few new players who are joining/trying Guild Wars 2 out, are not going to be telling their friends about it. (for the most part) (and yes Phantasy Star Online 2 IS 8 years old, and HAS seen way more changes than Guild Wars 2 albeit different games, and not really open-world based)
  24. The fight comes from within, or something like that, too tired. Neat glitch though. Thought I'd screenshot it before trying to swap to other weapons to see if the animation is actually stuck like this. So far, I fight in this pose. I like this one....
  25. Yes, characters used to get Skill Points when leveling up. Skill Points eventually turned into Hero Points and Spirit Shards after the time (a few months) when you got neither. Characters didn't get Spirit Shards until the change to Hero Points. Yea I forgot to put after 80 in there so correct. I think what Inculpatus is referring to is that when the game was released, once you reached level 80 you got an extra skill point every time you levelled up, similar to GW1. This meant you could get arbitrarily many skill points, but excess ones could be spent on things that nowadays cost spirit shards. When the old traitlines got reworked into specialisations, they converted the pre-level-80 skill points into hero points, and the post-level-80 those ones into spirit shards, presumably so that players who had accumulated tons of skill points couldn't use them to unlock elite specs. @Tommo Chocolate.5870 is right that when the system where changed that accumulated HP points after full skill bar and traits turned into Tome of Knowledge, these in turns could be used to get Spirit Shard (which work as a token to purchase things at vendors) and now there is also crafting recipes that make use of ToK. People complained that they had no use for the massive amount after lvl 80 of ToK that you gained over time. ToK can be used to fast level up another character to level 80, if you wish to use it for that. **ToK could not be turned into anything from start (outside of levelling up to level 80), it came later that ANet changed into Spirit Shards and you got Spirit Shard as an compensation when that system changed. There have been several changes over the years so I will not claim to remember exact which happens first and it is not important here. What is important is that Spirit Shards are still useful as a vendor token (will be put into your Wallet) and ToK is used in recipes nowadays, so all in all it less of collecting dust in your inventory. Anyway @"Humor.5763" you aren't new to this game and already got access to a mount (Raptor from your picture), so why do you complain? You can not be so confused that you don't know how this system work today when you already have a mount. It would be something else if you didn't know even how to get a mount or how to do things. From my own PoV this system work well enough to make it easier from ingame achievement system to understand what option there is to gain Mastery and these aren't something you have to repeat for each character after you have gained it on one character, then next character will have a much easier time to explore or do things. Your progression is in that way accumulating on your account level and not on your character level (it is here where elite specialisation come in the picture). It is meant that you can do jumping puzzle if that is your thing to get Mastery points or if you hate JP, you can focus on story or something else and get the same amount your need to unlock things. Changes where made after HoT introduced Mastery for the first time and made Mastery less depending on a very limited number of Mastery Points (meaning you had to do things very linear as there where not enough ways to get enough of MP to level up your rank in that line for Mastery). Most people also today get booster from different sources which make character level jump up to level 80 very fast, so Mastery is a way to expand on progression in way that it is shared among your characters. XP gain is something that you get while doing things in game independent of what type of PvE you are doing more or less as long your have activated that Mastery rank. The only thing that matters is that you are in the right map for the right group of Mastery you want to gain XP in. Doing mounts you will need to be on one of those maps that is PoF or Living World that belongs to that expansion to gain progression for that mount you want to level up in rank. Game have been designed so that most part of your achievement will also keep you in those places (there are some exceptions where you need to go to core Tyria). And as you already now those achievement are built to guide you step by step what to do next (even if that is not always so helpful, it is still part of how it is built). On map you will also see symbol where your mount is based (where you first unlock it [training NPC] and where you need to go for next step). All in all Mastery ranks is connected to gaining experience where you also collect from map those MP (where you some is part of lore and some other is part of using your mount) is a better system then the old HP where some people could have hard time to get other player to help them with getting there or even fight something to gain HP. If you do WvW or sPvP there is the same system, but here you have to pick which reward track you will want to have active. You can gain same kind of map token if you pick PoF reward tracks as you would be getting from playing in those maps in PvE. This is another option if you need a specific map token (you can see map token if you change view in Inventory - small symbol in lower left and filter it to only show map token). Just a warning: don't turn these map token into volatile magic as you want to move them into your Material Storage and not into your wallet. You can also check how many you already have stored in MS from your inventory if you hover with your mouse on that token before you use "Deposit from inventory" in the upper right corner of Inventory. Progression for Skyscale as an example is not only based on level up your rank in Mastery by accumulating MP and XP to unlock next rank for Skyscale (and the general Crystal Champion mastery track), but also to play in those maps to gain token that you can not get by playing in other map then where this token exist. There is a vendor in Dragonfall where you can exchange VM (this token you get from several maps and can also buy gathering tools that will over time give you a small amount of VM as you farm mats) to one of five maps token for PoF. This can only be done on daily basis and for 5 pc of that token (so this is not an option to get 250 token in one go from conversation of VM, but helps). Doing repeatable Hearts also give access to purchase a small amount map token, so this is way to get ppl to do events (which rewards with small amount of token) and do Hearts (daily reset- limited number of Hearts for each map) on regular basis. Map token is the real limit for your progression in combination of access to Gold to purchase certain object that you need for progressing in our achievement to get unlocked Skyscale for your own use. When you have triggered start of collecting for the mount achievement, you will also be able to borrow mount on certain places on map (look for new symbol on map where you can get those). The basic Skyscale that you can borrow will feel very different when you don't have Gliding (HoT) unlocked. With Gliding (Skyscale Master and Crystal Desert) you can summon your Skyscale if you fall from high place and want to be able to move in the air where you lack updraft (Skyscale have another way to move in air then basic Gliding). What I try to explain it is not as simple as just get a mount, but how can use your mount when you add those other Mastery ranks into the sum. With my Skyscale I can now go up a tiny bit more when my Energy bar is empty to reach VM in the sky (which refills Energy bar) or use a close walls or anything that I can not land on to full charge my flight bar and exchange energy bar into flight bar (green). I can boost forward two time with this bar, so I can "dodge" projectiles from ground and when I can not completely reach some thing I can use Bond of Faith which work as an extra launch before you descend again (need to activate Gliding). This means that I can jump from cliffs with gliding, summon Skyscale and use Bond of Faith to jump of my mount or I can use an AoE fire field which start when I close enough of ground. There is also food that can be crafted that will give quickness from unmounting. Combing all this and you have very different set of tools to get around in game. Looking down on the game world from the above the sky on my Skyscale is really something! ;) The raptor mount wasn't very hard to get. Week one of Path of Fire, I literally spent 10 minutes doing the raptor quest, and left the expansion far, FAR behind. Same with Revenant and HoT, never touched that expansion yet. As for the Skyscale progression, I've looked up how to get it, and seen a bunch of people on Reddit and such saying "Nope, not even going to bother", because of how much effort you actually have to put into getting it. As someone who put a mere 836 hours/67,344 hours total. I assume I'd fall into that group as well. That kind of "Progression" is simply not fun. I see a lot of people mention "Wooden Potato" when it comes to the game and such, and even one of his most recent video's pretty much states the boredom, and lack of stuff to do in Guild Wars 2 now, to the "Casual" player. Anyways, I suppose I just need to attempt these masteries, as the screenshot also shows, I am not afraid to put in huge time sinks all at once. I just have to have fun doing so, and, creating new classes, and seeing the experience bar just "Stop", kind of ruins that fun. Alas, I have to finish the core story again, before i attempt to touch the Living World on my Necro, and Expansions. Could always skip right to Drytop, seeing how my Renegade is there already, and beat the story a while ago, but... That's just out of order, and wrong.
