I doubt they'll let people disable gemstore effects, because as OP has honestly put it, they want people to be forced to look at their effects they spent real money on. I hope i'm proven wrong though! Would be nice to reduce a fraction of the ridiculous effects that have taken over GW2.

So for new players, the 'natural game progression' is to play an expansion, stop, farm it for a month, then go through each living world season farming those for a month each, etc? I have to believe you see the issue with that. I think when you say 'natural', you mean 'original'. Which is fine, for vets and some new players. But a lot of people simply go through content as it's presented. Hell, if someone isn't reading guides/forums, they wouldn't have a clue on how to get most mounts. They'd simply see high level players using them and think 'oh, i guess that comes later in the story'. When they do realize that they should have been working on the collectathons, they have a decent grind ahead of them in content they thought they were finished with. I can easily see why people would get frustrated by that, especially when they see time gates.

Are you honestly expecting every player at some point to say "yea, this is okay" for something that isn't completely free? Is this your first time on the internet?

I know trash mobs with unavoidable CC and then doing zero damage while I'm on the ground definitely adds a strategic element to the game. It definitely makes the game more exciting that's for sure.

breathe friend. I wasn't remotely upset. I actually enjoyed the constant fighting. Not everyone is always attacking your precious game. It's okay.

And what does that have to do with me wandering around an entire map and fighting constantly?

I remember one map, can't remember which one, but I went like 30 minutes straight of non stop fighting and this wasn't an event or anything, just walking around to different areas. It was pretty incredible lol. Lots of fun, but yea, I can see if someone was trying to explore and not fight constantly, it would be frustrating.

'top 100' lists are always a bit odd, because there's often a disconnect between profit, influence, current public opinion, etc. If I played Super Mario Bros in 2023 I doubt I'd be able to stand more than a couple of levels, but it's undeniably one of the most influential games of all time. Does that put it on the top 100 list? Probably?

Well, everything between level 24 and 80 for starters. It's your game though, play it how you want. I will say, if you're hoping to jump to 80 to get to the 'good stuff', you might be in for a surprise.

That sounds like a great way to get 70% of the playerbase quitting because they can't kill anything.

This really should be the only answer. It accounts for people that didn't remember they were offline, as well as trolls trying to bother people. "block them" is a more nuclear option that has no nuance.

I'm not sure political is the right word, but if devs purposely add in references to gender, couples, quests, etc purposely to be more inclusive, then that would be more what I think people are referring to as "political". I think people use political just to mean anything that is pushing any sort of what they perceive as an agenda. Some people don't like that, some don't care, and some love it. Those are all okay imo.

I don't really care if the devs want to add in a specific ideology, or discuss it, but quests like "Beat up the bigot" was a bit forth wall breaking for me, that immediately took me out of the game. Also, inb4 "this thread is old, and we're closing it"

If i've purchased a product from the same company, and the marketing is similar to previous offerings, yes, I expect it to be as shown. Is that supposed to be a 'gotcha' moment? Are you really trying to shame someone for buying a pair of boots and annoyed that there are a pair of pants that are forced attached to the boots?

The harm would be admitting ANet made a less than ideal choice in marketing the boots/pants. That for some is worse than making something more easily understood.

Wait, people get shiny mount skins just to show off and not because they like how they look? Are they expecting someone to whisper them and say "wow! you paid money for that! that is SO cool!" or something?
