  1. I'll throw in a name for consideration. A name that is inextricably linked to the Mists: Lord Odran.
  2. Yeah, I see what you're getting at. Could be. The only issue with it being Menzies is the Kryptis. Why would Menzies abandon the Shadow Army when they're obviously still a viable threat (as seen in Dragonfall) to take up new allies/minions? Also, in relation to it being a Charr, the only Charr who's visited the Mists and returned is Rytlock (with Balthazar's aid). The silhouette fits but lore-wise? I'm still leaning towards a new villain we've not seen before, or a very old obscure one.
  3. I don't recall Menzies being decapitated. However, it was established back in GW1 lore that Balthazar arrived on Tyria with the other gods carrying the head of his father. This could be a reason for Menzies' hatred of his half-brother. I personally hope Menzies' isn't the villain though - I'm hoping for someone else, someone more obscure from the GW1 archives.
  4. Just found this out as well. Got the recipe, crafted the warhorn, but got no credit for the achievement. Any chance of a fix please?
  5. Same here. 0HP and he seemed to fall off the platform, despawn and.................nothing.....
  6. What about expanding boon rip on a huge scale? Bosses in raids and strikes rip boons on hits, and maybe all boons on critical hits?
  7. I think, and hope, that this balance patch is designed to prepare the playing community for one thing: the mass duration nerf of ALL boons. Halving each and every boon duration, but giving all classes the ability to provide these boons, will ensure that more coordination occurs, as each squad has to have multiple players to cover part of the boon 100% uptime. This might lead to diversity in squads and instance teams.
  8. I've always felt that the entire expansion was a missed opportunity story-wise. So much rich culture, history and conflict in Cantha that was ignored, relegated and retconned for Jade Tech.
  9. If you played GW1, there was a much better combat tutorial in Shing Jea Monastery that they should have used as a template.
  10. The 15% trade tax is too high. Maybe Ebon Gnashblade needs to rethink it and have a free listing day once in a while, make it seem less like he's getting money for nothing. 😛
  11. We really just need the mech to transform into a jade squid or octopus....
  12. I'm hoping for entirely new characters, descendants of the Canthan NPCs from Factions.
  13. Looks fairly similar to a Vertebreaker from GW:Factions. https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Vertebreaker Perhaps an evolution of that?
  14. I'd like to see all of the Canthan weapon skins from GW1, like Testubo, Dadao Sword, Bladed Shield etc. But as we didn't get much in the way of Elonian skins from Path of Fire, I don't hold out much hope for anything different in EoD. Maybe I'll be proved wrong at launch.
  15. More legendaries, yes please. As long as they are Canthan GW1 skins (or Canthan-inspired) only.
  16. Music. Jeremy Soule's award-winning Factions soundtrack is a thing of rare beauty.
  17. Same bug for me. Tonn stuck after detonating the second tower. He's responsive to greetings, and gives a brief dialogue, but will not move. Can't see any Risen stuck in either of the two tower wreckages though.
  18. The treatment of many of the GW1 NPCs is hard, particularly Koss, Tahlkora and Devona.
  19. I'm sorry but there is so much wrong with this statement. This is a game. A game should give you a challenge and you should should find a way to overcome it. This goes for all games; computer games, sports, board games...Yes it is good if you have different possibilities how to beat a game and GW2 story has that. Many of us beat the story with much different classes, builds and game styles. But any play style possible? No no no no no. To enable this all challenge should be removed. What you are asking is not a game anymore. Not quite why you're sorry? It isn't personal, I simply have a different opinion to you. I don't take offense at people who have different opinions. Your next statement about overcoming challenges is fair, in that we should be adapt to survive. However, the problem here, and in many of the GW2 instances, is that there is only one way forward and that way is programmed by the Arenanet team. If there were multiple options to beating a boss (perhaps in the case of Scruffy, Taimi could give you some access codes to input whilst NPCs tank) then we'd have options. As I said, options are everything. Arenanet could still lock the achievements behind actually combatting the boss, and everyone would get their choice of how to beat it, with appropriate reward.
  20. Nope, never said that. I *could run one on one of my many characters, and it's my choice to do so. If there are instances where you simply have no choice but to change the way you want to play, it's a poorly designed instance. Choice is everything.
  21. The mechanics aren't that complicated. I'll admit there are some things that can be surprising at times, but when most fights don't even reset when you die, it's pretty easy to just say "guess I'd better pay attention to that next time" and off you go. And if you want to play a build that supports allies, of course you can do that and get through easily, as long as you go in with other players. If you use a build that supports allies when there are no allies to support, then that's a problem with your decision making, not the game mechanics. And even with that being said, you can STILL get through those instances easily even without allies. It'll just take you ages to kill anything. I happen to think you're wrong here. Signposting is poor, and invulnerability phases simply break immersion and the rules of the game system. And there should be no reason why I'm forced to play in a particular style to beat an instance. The instance should have multiple options, or paths to victory, that any playstyle is possible.
  22. Two points here:- Firstly, the mechanics are often poorly signposted, with illogical invulnerability phases and massive AOE effects. It's not easy to work out what you need to do when you're dodging/healing/kiting.Secondly, DPS isn't everything. If I want to play a build focused on boon-sharing, or healing allies, I should be able to and still have a decent chance of getting through an instance. The fact that I can't implies that the encounter isn't designed fairly. Perhaps that's the flaw in the underlying GW2 mechanics.
  23. Mace pls.I wanna stun people for days with a sap.
