  1. I'm not a fan of the fact that legendary relics won't be an alternate way to access relics that are locked behind content I'm not interested in doing.
  2. He didn't have any progress yet. No progress lost on mine.
  3. My son and I have all the same expansions, all PVE selected, and now have different sets of weeklies. We've always had the same.
  4. I can run old zones at highest settings, but the newest zones are more taxing and I need to turn settings down. And then, of course, when there are a lot of players in a small area for WvW or Metas, settings need to get reduced. The highest/autodetect/performance settings are really crude. There are excellent guides on line for tweaking your settings so that you can max the ones that don't impact things much but tweak the ones that do. Unfortunately, though, every time I need to go "performance" I lose the dialed in settings and have to manually reset. It would be amazing if we could set a few templates and easily switch between them for the various parts of the game that tax our systems differently.
  5. She makes me laugh every time I do the Drizzlewood meta. Props to both her writer and voice actor.
  6. How long does it take you to do the dailies and the weekly? The vast majority of dailies and weeklies happen while doing other things in the open world, so there's no opportunity cost there. And the remaining can be knocked out very quickly, often while doing other rewarding things.
  7. Why's everyone so down on the 1g for 30 wizard bucks? That's 32 gold a week for pretty minimal effort.
  8. I don't know why, but I get completions that pop up for events I didn't even realize I'd accidentally tagged far more often than I get inactivity messages.
  9. I've been playing Virt for the past several weeks. Long range is nice for not having to chase after all the mobs in the first stage of rifts. I might have to give st/axe Mirage a try again, based on reports above. It's one of my favorites, but at some point in the past I realized it just felt like a wet noodle, so I've been playing other things. Both Herald and Renegade felt so much stronger.
  10. Okay, sure, people are dramatic people. But you were talking about smaller guilds working together, how would alliances make it any different. Other than that with restructuring, they need some way to make sure they are on the same side, which Alliances do. With restructuring but no Alliances, you're guaranteed not to be able to have smaller guilds work together because they never know if they're going to be in the same match up, let alone on the same side. Back to your post I responded to, with the 500 player limit, how would Alliances make the huge WvW guilds more dominant?
  11. I stopped the Flight Training mastery shy of Ley-Line Acclimation. I love zooming around the new zones on griffon way too much to take it. Disappointing, because it'd be nice to have Rising Spirits. Enhanced Updrafts are awesome. Enjoy Combat Launch. Fireball does more damage than I thought it would. I can't tell that Wall Spring did anything for me even though it's supposed to launch farther having trained the original Wall Launch. Just finished Ley-Loom Operation on the Research mastery. Haven't used it yet, but maybe it'll still be useful for gliding, since I'm not taking Ley-Line Acclimation. Once again, feels bad to have to advance a mastery just to open chests. Astral Ward seems like a waste of a line. Two mastery points to enable the resting mechanic? And the rest of the line is just more gates that I knocked down as soon as possible and felt no better for having done so.
  12. Alliances, according to the 2021 blog post, were going to be capped at 500, the same size as a max guild. That means if you have a 100% participation, max sized mega-WvW guild, Alliances do nothing for you. There'd be no way to form a bigger meta guild. Alliances, as presented, would help those smaller guild work together. You could have 10 guilds of 50 people assured of ending up together every reset because they'd formed an Alliance.
  13. Is it though? Kinda seems like by the time you grind out the higher ranks to get the quick chests, you'll have the stuff to make the armor. I've always found it weird that WvW rewards hardcore players by allowing them to play it less.
  14. Jzaku helped with their cooldown explanation. I get it now. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel like Anet generally respects these considerations recently, though they may have in the past. Some of my favorite builds used to work this way, but no longer do. I used to St/Axe Mirage, but Solar didn't like Axe. I also have enjoyed condi renegade, but shortbow hits so hard it doesn't feel all that helpful to switch to mace most of the time. I mained staff daredevil for a good long time, and used P/P as my alternate set for when things got too heated, but staff stopped hitting like it used to. I think my big disconnect was that I don't play content where I need optimized rotations, so I'm rarely weapon swapping just to get to the ideal skills off cooldown. Jzaku was helpful identifying that's where the ranged/melee weapon swapper would be paying a price for not going melee/melee. This of course assumes access to two good melee weapons of the same damage type. Thanks for sticking with me until it clicked!
  15. I'm noting that we have two more complete sets of skins we'll need to get in the future as well. No idea whether they will be like Rift Hunter, or more like Astral Ward. Maybe one more of each?
  16. Since Asura are a weird cross between children and little wizened old people, makes sense.
  17. I'd like a new race. I'd also like my house paid off, a trust fund that provides a comfortable yearly income, and free tuition to the university of my choice so I can retrain into a new career. Out of those four things, the 2nd is the only one likely to happen, and it'll be another 10 years or so before it does.
  18. For what it's worth, as a casual player, I got my last two pieces of Astral Ward Armor last night. So 4 weeks. It was probably the second week before I started doing the Incursion weekly achievements. I haven't really done any rift farming, apart from what was required in the story, weeklies, and occasionally scooting over to a T3 orT2 announced in chat. I've done both metas a handful of times. I do consider myself a casual player, but I have been playing this game for a long time. So I benefited from having the crafting level to refine the essences and a stockpile of trophies and ecto. Said stockpile also helped in making things to research. Which is all to say the cost in trophies, ectos, and clovers is pretty crazy if all you want is a unique look and 6 exotic armor pieces. But the essences, stardust and lightning are easily attainable. _________ Also, do we know for certain if we'll need those 6 exotic pieces in the crafting of the legendary or not? It'd be great not to take up the storage slots waiting to find out.
  19. FTFY Many, many requests stated it could be as difficult as other modes.
  20. I’ve seen some very cute Asura made by players. I avoid zooming in to see Taimi, though, because she reads to me as firmly in Uncanny Valley. As for legs, they’re still goblins, no matter how cute.
  21. What I want from GW2 is an immersive, open world, and some interesting rewards I can chase via a variety of content. On the whole, over the life of the game, it has provided this, which is why I'm still playing.
  22. Okay, that makes sense. I hadn't thought about that. Much appreciated. That would require access to two viable melee weapons of each damage type though, right?
  23. Exactly, I don't see it's possible, which is why I'm trying to understand what the goal is. Staff shouldn't be as strong, because it has the option of getting to a safe distance. Axe should be strong because it's up close. But St/Axe Mirage can have the benefits of both? Sorry my questions are weird, but I'm trying to imagine the experience of playing every profession in a world where melee gets a bigger power budget than ranged across the board. Sucks to be an Ele, great to be a Mez.
  24. I very much may be thinking in the wrong direction. I'm trying to understand. So only builds that are exclusively melee will get stronger weapons? I can see the "stronger melee because range has the advantage of positioning" in other games where there are melee classes and ranged classes, but I'm having trouble figuring out how you can make it work in GW2. If melee weapons are across the board stronger than ranged, then the profs that can weapon swap between the two get the best of both worlds. Is that figured into their power budget over professions that get stuck in melee or stuck with range?
