  1. You have to kind of assume the fact the only people who might benefit from the armory are already going to have a decent amount of ascended gear crafted. IF the armory was something that came out day 1 you could say the value of them was decent in a very very long run... but it’s pretty anecdotal. It’s definitely nice you can essentially avoid swapping all your crap around if you did so, but I’ve crafted/bought ascended gear for most characters. And it’s not like I can complain because they were worth it for years. Hindsight is always 20/20 but would I have really waited til 2021 to not craft any of it? No. Nor do I think any new players would find the armory useful at all... they’d be better off getting ascended first on a “main” so they can do fractals and such. This is one of those features that I find myself just saying “huh... neat” to more than I think it’s something I’m definitely looking forward to.
  2. The info floating around reddit and other such sites is all theories. The screenshots aren’t official Anet screens. They haven’t released any info as far as I’ve seen that talks about the armory in any capacity except for saving on shared inventory slots essentially. I think they were planning on something prior to July in terms of showcasing the armory, but it wasn’t until later. I will say however, if it’s akin to some of the things I’ve seen on reddit it seems entirely convoluted and like a waste of time on Anet’s part. From a coding standpoint it doesn’t make much sense as far as being a pseudo collection type drop down menu, because the game doesn’t track multiple instances of the legendary collection. Even if you had two Bolts for instance there’d be no way to really “track” that for a sort system that was described, similar to the wardrobe, which just recognizes what you have unlocked in your collections. Exp, you can transmog bolt on two swords at the same time without needing to have 2... If anything was officially announced about the armory we’d have that info on the wiki, as well as sites reporting it on it because clicks are clicks.
  3. You really don’t know what context is do you? I’ll let you in on a secret. Players go for shiny, much of them, life yourself, somehow see a plethora of intrinsic “value” when looking at the armory. There isn’t any. Not really, none that’s game changing in any sense. For those players that have no leggos it literally does nothing at all, for those that do... they avoid load screens. Its hardly something you can even give Anet a pat on the back for doing. It’s something that should have probably been in the game at launch give their propensity for making sooo much of the game account oriented rather than per character. So far as it stands you’re literally only taking things out of context, you’re not arguing your point in how it “adds value” nor can you refute what I said about how leggos WEREN'T useless before the armory. I’ve stated their actual worth and simply said the armory does nothing to change that value. You literally quoted Anet saying they hope it “feels better” when crafting a legendary. Even they aren’t saying it somehow intrinsically raises their value. Maybe you should pick a point and stick with it.
  4. You’re entire stance literally is load screens bad. Sure. That’s the only “value” the armory adds. It’s nothing exciting enough nor actually has any effect on a huge amount of the player base. It’s not like any “issues” centered around legendary gear change other than not needing to swap them out. The reason anet is so adamant about it being “free” is because they know this doesn’t really change anything. Think about it... if a player has a full set of legendary gear, they’re already moving that gear around. They probably aren’t crafting ascended gear for that armor type. Unless they just absolutely hate 2 load screens. Legendary armor and weapons have no intrinsic advantages over ascended gear except for runes and sigils. Adding an armory doesn’t increase that value. Take infinite gathering tools for example... their value is determined by saving a player the cost and inventory space of vendor gathering tools plus glyph slots... something you can’t add to the vendor tools. The armory doesnt add anything to the game except for saving a player from having 2 extra load screens from moving gear around. The stats are the same. You’re already able to use them on any character that can... my point about anet possibly adding monetary costs to the system is hyperbole... and if it IS done, why pay the cost when you can just choose to have the load screens? Its not game changing... its neat.
  5. How is it that hard to grasp? Crafting armor and weapons gives no more value other than now being able to use them on multiple builds or characters without having to swap either stats or runes. Its THAT simple. Sure you can have multiple sets of them now without needing to craft them to do so, so it takes away from the gimmick of saving runes or sigils since you’ll just make a new template... if anything you might need to buy more runes and sigils for “new” sets. Unless you’ve made legendary ones, which again you could have swapped between characters so again... no more load screens... woot... Its not like they weren’t valuable to begin with... no one’s refuting that fact... but adding “more” value comes down literally to the convenience of load screens. I think you’re operating under the assumption players didn’t move legendary gear around maybe? Cuz your argument is only valid as such, treating them as they were soul bound... cuz otherwise what’s the “cost” you put on a load screen?
  6. I think it was more of a spitball... and or factoring in using one’s own mats and the vendor cost of crafting materials for ecto refinement. OR maybe using fractals to buy them? Which is fairly cheap and you’ll make that gold farming t4’s and recs anyway.
  7. Then tell me how it does? Saves you from a few load screens? You’re not factoring in the most blatantly obvious fact that players are only getting “value” of not needing to craft ascended armor for pieces they already have a legendary in. That’s it. If anything the armory takes away from part of the fundamental QoL since you won’t need to worry about runes and sigils nearly as much when swapping to another build or character, you’ll just make a load out. The only thing the armory promises is less load screens. Let’s all cheer for that I guess?
  8. First take anything a dev tells you that does x for a game with a giant grain of salt... of course they’re going to say anything they’re doing is going to have intrinsic value for the player... it’s called marketing. Secondly the only value the armory is bringing, in their own words too, is a player will no longer need to use shared inventory slots or the bank to swap leggos around. I’m assuming that you’ll be able to use the armory to equip two Quips after having only crafted one. Logic dictates that the armory will use your collections in some form and allow you to equip a load out or copy a leggo... so if we go by that logic yes... one leggo will equal infinite of the exact same one. And yes quality of life does not equal better, at least in no quantifiable way. Legendary gear is the same as ascended. It will still be the same after the armory. To those that take advantage of it definitely “feel better”, but to say that it innately increases value is conjecture. It’s not like they were soul bound items OR that you couldn’t use ascended gear in the same way as legendary, other than it’s current value of saving runes and sigils and being able to change stats for free. Also by your logic, if you can’t use two Quips or Bolts on a load out after only crafting one, then the ONLY thing the armory does is save you from waiting on load screens to swap them around.... and i want to emphasize this part again... if you had read their own thoughts on the armory they even admit it’s just going to “FEEL more valuable” nothing about adding any actual value.
  9. I agree... mostly. I do think this is going to push most players to legendary crafting. Which is fine. I think the more people willing to step foot into raids or wvw in this game is a plus. But it’s entirely OPTIONAL. As you said ascended gear is much more accessible than the legendary alternative, sure it’s not “flashy” but they are virtually the same. I honestly think the armory should have been a thing from the start. I’d agree that the grind to have all light, medium and heavy armor, every weapon, every trinket and runes and sigils is insane and something only a small portion of the population have done...if that.
  10. How does it increase the value? If anything over time it decreases monetary values. No longer would someone need to craft 2 swords, 2 pistols, 2 axes, 2 daggers... the only “value” being increased is quality of life and less load screens needing to swap leggos around. Unless scarcity of certain items increases, the armory itself adds no quantifiable value to a legendary. Sure, we have seen price gouging increase since the announcement of the armory, but that’s purely due to people who understand basic laws of supply and demand. The demand for coins has gone up for now... but within a couple years time the market will be so flooded with coins due to no one needing to make multiple sets to AVOID having to swap leggos around. So in terms of pure quality of life... yes one leggo now is essentially crafting infinite of the same exact one. Also the “is it worth” argument is essentially settled due to the fact you’d be able to ever forgo crafting ascended gear if you were to craft armor/weapons. So I guess you could say in a metaphysical sense the “value” of legendary gear has increased... but not because it’s “better” than ascended... in its purest and most logical sense it’s the quality of life that has increased from crafting a leggo.... Side note... Anet is notorious for putting a price tag on convenience... the armory could be free at its inception, but very easily monetized. Imagine needing to buy “charges” to “copy” legendaries from the armory, akin to transmutation charges.
  11. How have leggo weapons been pointless for 9 years? First off aesthetics, they’ve always been long term goals for that alone. Secondly stat swapping, sigil changing, swapping them between characters was easy enough... it’s not like they weren’t useful... it’s just “easier” now. We we still don’t know how the armory is going to work. All we know is it’s “free” and we won’t have to use the bank/shared inventory anymore. If anything... we’re going to use the same leggo less now, depending on how the armory will work. Where as before you would have saved 1 leggo across at least 4 different build templates on something like a Mesmer. Swords are widely used on Mesmer and it’s “easier” to hot key equipment templates than open the hero panel and change your set up that way. Iirc leggos could swap stats depending on how you put it in an equipment load out. I think it’s a bit disingenuous to say that the armory will somehow make legendary weapons more useful. Or that you’d need a ton of characters to reach their full potential. GS’s were widely used with core tyria, and especially since most of the GS builds are power builds for all classes pretty much. Same with 1h swords for core tyria. There were others like pistol where only 3 classes really used them. Anyway I really don’t know where you’re coming from with that statement.
  12. Meh, the brandstone isn’t too hard. Do the metas and hearts each day on any 80’s you have. Do the 25nodes per day it’s pretty quick. But yeah bloods are fairly easy to come by or yes purchased on TP. I mostly try to keep mats on hand.
  13. The jewels aren’t too expensive but pretty easy to get if you’re already grinding the brandstone. The metas give a decent amount. If you’re fortunate enough to play with someone else with no need of them that helps too. I had the jewels before all the brandstone I believe. And yeah as as far as the build goes itself there’s very little variance due to the nature of only having 5 skills per legend. The only difference as far as traits goes is when to use Swift Termination over Dance of Death. I have dance of death to be better for raids and higher dmg when some sites almost always put Swift termination as the go to.
  14. I mean by that logic snowcrows is mostly info on raids/raid builds. The point being theres a ton of info available
  15. You also get to save sigils and runes. When replacing them. Up until the armory that’s pretty huge. So for a while they’ve had a bit of value associated with them, albeit a pretty decent grind as well. But as I’ve mentioned in a few posts if you’re just playing the game you’re going to get quite a bit of the mats just doing any activity.
  16. I mean, to be fair there’s very little gameplay that really changes from core to renegade to be honest, especially as alacren. It’s still highly based around either use x for buff or y for dmg. The thing that changes the most is weapon skills, unless youre alacren.
  17. You can’t really do scaled rewards with how raids already reward players. Unless you go as far to say 1 insight per wing. Then they wouldn’t be worth a “dumbed-down” version. The introduction to strikes was supposedly another avenue other than raids for players to “get into” that sort of structured environment. I don’t understand the hostility... and well like it or not legendary armor is directly tied to raiding, op post wasn’t specific to weapons. And as for how rewards work in this game or wanting tiered rewards it’s a bit of a self serving pipe dream to think that every activity should offer rewards to players similar to those that, for instance, run raids especially considering that this endgame is lateral. Do I think there should be an option for new players? Sure. But as far as rewards go I don’t think the raid specific skins, ascended armor or the insights and divinations should be a reward for such... thus making the “scaled” version obsolete. Maybe 5 mag shards tops for a boss kill.. but again players are going to say”well why don’t I get this too” and no one would run them, unless of course you made the scaled versions the same rewards now and normal highly more lucrative than it is now.... which won’t happen and again, players who choose to opt for the scaled version would complain. Think I’m wrong? The amount of LFR only raiders in WoW who were kitten that titanforging went away was immense. They were no longer able to, per chance of rng, get mythic quality gear from doing easy mode.
  18. The raids aren’t really all that bad. I think there’s a huge portion of the community that’s a little standoffish about them or think the raiding community is super toxic/elitist, while yeah they might be a bit more elitist than your average worldboss frequenters, it’s nothing compared to the raiding scene in other games. There are definitely still guilds that do “training raids” for newcomers that also don’t require 100% rep (avoid those guilds anyway) and they aren’t all that difficult to do. There’s plenty of guides both vod and text that players can use to have somewhat of an understanding and the training raids are there for people to see and learn the fights. They won’t expect you to perform at 100% efficiency. I appreciate what the Guild Wars raids have to offer and I come from doing heroic/mythic raiding in WoW and other than Dhuum a lot of the fights are much more forgiving than at first glance. I can’t speak as to what’s holding you back specifically from wanting to raid, but they’re definitely fun to do. For anyone that does find a training raid guild keep in mind you probably won’t full clear everything each week, but you have to start somewhere.
  19. This is one of the main reasons I only have 1 myself. That and speeding up ascended crafting after taking breaks and not having mats/currency. They definitely aren’t a needed commodity, more so sort of a status symbol, though that’s at face value. Though I don’t agree with the premise they aren’t useful or worth it.
  20. This right here is what I think the problem with the “content on not farming til I’m dead” mindset with a lot of players comes from. Yes, looking at the sheer amount of raw materials sounds terrible. But the gift of fangs, bloods, etc etc are pretty easy already. You COULD silverwastes farm, which I know people hate, ooor... you could be pretty lazy about it. IF you have the fractal masteries unlocked, run your t4’s and Recs, don’t even need to do cm’s if you don’t want to. Buy your 30-60 keys a day, depending on how much you want to spend on them. If you have a ton of stabilizing matrices you can turn those into keys. Amass a whole bunch of keys and put a few orders for fractal chests off the TP. Theoretically you should actually make gold doing so, but it requires a little bit of time and investment from your part. T4’s and recs shouldn’t take more than an hour even with a pug. I don’t think people realize just how close they are to actually getting a leggo. They are indeed designed to take time. Unless you’re lucky with infusion drops, or you’re a master at playing the TP (which still takes time..) you’re probably not buying them outright, and only gen1 can you do that with. Dont look at the full list of a leggo at once, rather look at one gift at a time, work from there, do it in smaller steps. If you try and focus on the whole thing at once you might burn out, or ignore your “daily routine” all of which are actually designed to help you get what’s needed for a leggo.
  21. I doubt they’d do any sort of shapeshifter since ursan was game wide in gw1 as well as it’s a norn niche. An “Assassin” type legend I more or less meant something that might pay homage to someone from the factions era that was more or less a melee fighter. Ritualist is more or less the class itself, doesn’t mean it can’t adopt something similar to the class or a legend. id honestly be more surprised if they did use one of those vs maybe a Tengu legend for a power-centric build.
  22. I mean, people bought WoW in the past and paid a sub. People buy the expansions and pay a sub, same with ff14. Oh and both have a cash shop. Are we not surprised at some monetizing?
  23. What about when players get it for free by logging in? Not now, but before when it was available? And you can easily assume that if there ARE people getting them for free now, they’ve more than likely spent gems on something else or will down the road. To be frank, most people already owned the seasons. This event isn’t so much about them as much as it is about the new achievements and legendary.
  24. Honestly even if that was a concern, sometimes people just need to take advantage of the block function. When online gaming really started to take off that was almost always overlooked, and it wasn’t like it destroyed communities. People then knew how to just ignore people. Im not excusing people acting in such a way, but for people to say that it will some how effect them in a negative way to see someone being an kitten, it’s a bit hyperbolic. I understand that people let younger audiences play online games, and that’s fine, as long as they are proactive in limiting what sort of interactions they can have with others. At some point a parent has no finger to point at anyone but themselves if a kid sees certain things in chat on any game.
