  1. If it was well implemented then sure. However, in reality the balance team has hands full of work when it comes to fixing the ongoing issues with the skills and weapons which are actually being used. They progress very slowly so it seems they find it very difficult, and throwing all new skills and weapon uses to the mix would make balance even harder to attain
  2. Nowadays many kids would cancel you for it 😂 the mob dominates this game too so careful. Humans too here for obvious reasons
  3. Which is why it is gradually dying in terms of devoted playerbase. New players going to level and then leave after buying legendaries for real money
  4. Nah, after EoD I’d rather them stop making new stuff, and stop trying to fix the game. The new dev team has the opposite of the golden touch.
  5. There is a learning curve for each class yes, but the defining factor why some classes are better than the others in being meta in certain roles lie in passive abilities, skill activation times, etc. - gameplay has nothing to do with it. That’s the reason the debate is ongoing since forever.
  6. I can totally see something like virtuoso but with dps MH pistol instead. Easy to make ‘a damage dealer of some sort’ as the devs tried to describe it haha
  7. This is a very positive outlook on the topic. Thing is, some classes excel at many different roles and some are mostly niche and require more skill to pull off. This is imbalance considering Anet stated they want each class to be good at everything and have an easy build 😂
  8. Mesmer has been the worst off as a class for almost all the time since hot or so. The only time it works kind of viableis either distort+condi spam and one-shot power. What does it say about the class in itself? It is so weak it needs bending/abusing the game to work. Whereas other classes have a little bit of everything in different builds which is always superior. oh and the devs don’t really follow the Mesmer discussion too closely, it is a common knowledge now they don’t understand the class
  9. Whilst I see these mechanics are problematic, just look at Vindicator, earth shield ele, any ranger etc. It is toxic mechanic but the whole meta is stupid like that. These changes would be good while accompanied with almost all other classes receiving similar nerfs. And is it happening? Never.
  10. Is it stupid? Yes. Is it cracked? I guess only in case of ele, as a Mesmer bunker you do way less damage than dps version and struggle to hold the node due to invuln spam (hence inspi virtuoso/mirage is sh!t). not to worry though as a Ranger one can just wait to snipe them in the right moment/ use pet AI auto target burst if needed. If you are a thief then you are indeed doomed
  11. This is virtuoso aka the dumbest cr@p this game has ever put out. Similar abomination to condi inspi mirage. In my mind you should say condi/bunker mesmer. Power mesmer requires lots of skill. But little people will play it because anet decided they want OnE EAsY buiLD foR eAch ClaSs
  12. You picked your arguments very selectively - forgot about new broken gear, dumb broken new especs, avalanche of reards for literally existing, QoL, etc. Besides the harder content is attempted by minimal percentage of players and gives no amazing upgrade in rewards. So all in all the content needed to win is dumbed down.
  13. Well they try to make easy builds for every profession in this game. Of course more challenging builds will be punished and left without reward. Nothing that can be done
  14. That could be a part of it, however I meant it was exciting first of all, of course it had its problems. The gw2 system is boring and broken on the other hand in comparison. It was just easier to tolerate it perphaps because GW1 is harder, especially before heroes were introduced.
  15. This game went live during quite a transitionary period and I think this is the inherent problem. like - it is designed with enough complexity to be almost as elaborate as the old school mmos/simple rpgs , but the crowd transformed over the last years and they want simple experience. So the devs needed to compromise their development ambitions. So they are trying to dumb the game down now so that it attracts these people. And it works I guess, since the majority of GW2 player base seems to be very casual. The sweaty gamer theorycrafters from GW1 times moved on to other titles, where pvp is better and the endgame is more challenging. And I believe that attracting both bases is key, which cannot happen anymore, because GW2 is sort of like a car repurposed for a boat - meant to be bad.
  16. Exactly, the very concept of gw2 classes is disabling the game from being good. And the balance nightmare will only get worse with each next set of especs. They really did f themselves hard with it. The dual class system in gw1 is Just so exciting even now after like 20 years
  17. If that was done the way you mentioned then maybe, but as you said GW2 went for more cartoonish hammers. They already look strange on eles ngl. Well - we’ll see
  18. I just cannot picture noble rich pricks gathering in a high entry club wanting to run around with two handed hammer. It’s like filthy.
  19. Valid, but this is Arenanet we speak of with all respect. Their balance team proved year after year they struggle mitigate the problems stopping pvp from flourishing. Their current balance philosophy statement is just a continuation of it. Holding one’s breath for positive change will lead to disappointment given what the statement sais. Not to mention the November balance update. Meanwhile their investment in skins and gemstore in general has been large and consistent. It speaks for itself.
  20. They see not many play it, because it’s been bad for a while. So there’s little reason to invest in it, whereas you can release fairy wings or something on gemstore and get higher return. Simple
  21. From pvp perspective: Chrono received a chop, core had its chop beforehand, mirage is still struggling, and Virt is intended to shine to sell the game (but it sucks). so the class is not only killed as it’s been for a while, now there’s little hope for its future too.
  22. Anyone voting hammer has absolutely no idea of the Mesmer lore
  23. It’s heartbreaking to see because they show they are trying. However, things like enabling easy to play builds for each class and still dwelling on trade-off holds the game in the same spot forever essentially. Especially given the fact strong classes keep receiving lots of buffs and the more niche ones are getting not as much. perfeft balance is utopia but trying to achieve it is good. But not with this philosophy
