  1. Look, I'm a normal guy with normal reflexes. How in the ever living [FLAVOR] am I supposed to get 1min or under for the Demon of a Drifter achievement in the raceway? My beetle (rented) decides when it wants to drift, there's times where I release the drift button and it keeps drifting (I have on average 50-60 ping). I've completely taken my hands off my keyboard and mouse and just watched my character drift across the map. I saw a thread back in 2018 where the time-limit was adjusted to 1:30, why was it reverted to 1min? I wouldn't care if it was just some random achievement that gave some achievement points, but this has a cosmetic tied to it that I'd like to try and actually 'achieve' without raising my blood-pressure to unhealthy levels. I've gotten (at my fastest) about 1:15 with my raptor, not sure if I have to wait a whole year and return with Griffin or something to try and blast through it that way. TLDR: Demon of a Drifter's time limit is too strict (again) and drifting doesn't work properly for me for some reason (I know some elitists will hop on here and try and pick at whatever incompetency they think I have but rest assured, I know how to hold C to reduce friction and release it to regain it [WHICH DOESN'T HAPPEN]). Fix the time limit please, if I wanted to stress out over a racing game I'd play a dedicated racing game.
  2. THIS! Thank you for bringing this up! I am actually livid over this issue. I've spent more time trying to find a group whose instance I can actually join than doing the fricking Labyrinth. A simple indicator would be perfect so I can save my time and energy 'testing' these groups. I get why the instances exist, but their implementation (and the fact you can even wind up with your party split between instances) is bogus at best. When I join a party, I want to JOIN that party not some ghost instance where I'm 'in the party' but on my own. I'm better off just sticking to being antisocial in that case. This needs to be addressed, not changed just addressed somehow so we can join a party and do what we joined to do: GROUP UP.
  3. OK... I guess all the companies paying streamers thousands of dollars per hour to play their game are doing it wrong... Maybe. I'm not a marketing expert. Pretty sure Teapot wasn't being paid $1000's to stream GW2 for Anet, so that comment seems pretty irrelevant. Just gotta ask: if you're not a marketing expert, which pretty much translates to "I don't know much about how marketing works", why are you even commenting on that particular topic then? You were so adamant before............ Wait a minute ... so EVERYONE commenting in this thread IS a marketing expert ... except me? So you can't comment if you aren't an expert in something now? I gotta ask you a question then ... are YOU a marketing expert? You're posting in this thread ...I am a streamer of 2 years, so I do have more 'inside' knowledge than you seem to think xD I've had game companies working with me, offering to compensate me for streaming their games, I've played games where stream and chat were integrated into said game, I've played games where the companies don't care. Statistically, companies that support streamers playing their games tend to rake in far more players than those who don't. Some people like being rewarded for watching their favorite content creator, others seem to stick to their own old ways. Either way's fine, but it's a known fact that games with a high viewership on twitch wind up with higher player-bases. A big reason for that is because a lot of gamers nowadays also base a game's popularity off of how many people are streaming/watching it. I don't agree with that practice, it's very shallow, but that just goes to show how much of an impact a successful game on Twitch has. Small games tend to have smaller viewerships and vice versa. Keyword here is 'tend', btw. It's not true for all circumstances, but it's often moreso than not. What I was implying at earlier was your clear bigotry on the subject, rather than 'not being an expert', but since you wanna be like all the other toxic content-creator haters on here I'll oblige. You've shown you have no clue as to what you're talking about on the subject and have even stated you don't care for content creators. Your bias is as clear as spring water, and it's not helping your case. Whether you like it or not, streaming and YouTube are both the go-to for ALL game companies nowadays for marketing; whether it be through ads or the streamers themselves is their choice. I don't recall seeing any GW2 commercials on television? In fact, outside of YouTube and Twitch my only exposure to new games is to physically look up a top 10 list, which isn't how it should be done. Back in the day I remember a plethora of commercials geared at MMOs like Wizard101 to WoW and others, even CoD. Now? All I see is beauty products and car commercials. So you tell me, how are these companies supposed to market their games when everything is already so internet heavy, and when YouTube and Twitch are the GIANTS of the content creating world?
  4. "Normal tv" offers a variety of content. At least in my country, this includes scientific news and documentaries etc. It can be a lot more educational than streaming the latest episode of your favorite US tv show, and certainly more educational than watching YouTube streamers' boring content. Um, you do realize YouTube has a plethora of educational content right? All without ads and commercials as well (provided you use AdBlock). TV is vastly inferior, every 15 minutes is 5 minutes of commercials. Sorry, but if I want a Schick Hydro I'll be googling and YouTubing reviews on it long before I buy it; even then I'm trying to relax at the end of the day and watch something I enjoy uninterrupted. Plus you have the added bonus of being able to pause the YouTube video should you need to, TV's just gonna keep going (DVRs is no excuse, why pay more for something YouTube does for free?). Watch what you want, but you classifying YouTube as 'YouTube streamers' shows you really don't have a clue as to what kind of platform YouTube is xD
  5. I love you xD ty for that, was having a rough day but that was the gut buster I needed <3

  7. "Why watch someone play a game when you can play it yourself?" - Simple: some people prefer television, others prefer content creators. Watching any streamer is also about the STREAMER and their community, not the game itself. It's like watching any sport: why bother when you can do it yourself? Plus, if you're having a burnout it's still an option to support the game and the community as a whole. I've met many amazing people from around the world through stream chats and through streaming, there's far more to it than 'just watching someone play a game'. Gotta open your minds peeps and look at the bigger picture.
  8. I noticed on gw2.skills.net's Build Editor that they have a 20s ICD under Rune Of Tormenting's 6th effect, yet everywhere else I look everyone says it has no ICD, even the Wiki doesn't seem to state one. So is this just another classic case of the Build Editor being wrong, or was there a patch and the info hasn't been updated yet? I'd like to use these runes on my Revenant, but if they're no longer as good as they once were I'll just return to Elementalist Runes.
  9. Wow so much toxicity. I'm 50/50 on the subject: GW2 was definitely at its prime a couple of years ago and has definitely declined a little as of late, but at the same time I wouldn't say it's 'dead' or 'dying' per-say. Mostly due to lack of meaningful content, poor balance patches and very, VERY limited build options for a lot of classes (mainly looking at you Revenant and Necro). In other words: a lot of people are probably just taking a break until something worthwhile pops up (cough new expansion cough) to draw them back in. Now, as for the whole 'streamer' bashing that was going on: you all need to remember that content creators (streamers and YouTubers) are free advertisement. If you don't like watching 'em, that's fine, but these people are what keep games on the radar to begin with. It's also where a lot of people go to check out a game before playing it, to see what it's like first-hand before buying/downloading. Why waste the time/money when in five minutes you can see all you need to see? Or at the very least get a small taste of what to expect. Not to mention, new players can communicate with streamers (especially) directly and get immediate answers to any questions they may have about said game. Because these content creators are free advertisement, they also hold the power to make or break a game when it comes to newer players; ESPECIALLY big names. 300 average viewers, for example, is NOT small by any means. Not a 'big name', those normally have closer to 1k viewers on average, but still an influential size. I streamed for 2 years daily, most I ever saw was 40 viewers. A lot of you are just being spiteful to be spiteful and it's sad. Have some respect, if you think streaming's just a bout sitting in front of a camera, playing games and reading chat you're sorely mistaken. That all being said: GW2 is still alive and though not thriving, still kicking. If you love the game, stick with it. It's free, if you're new there's a Quaggan-ton of stuff to do, if you're a veteran take a break. If you want to move on to something else then more power to you and I hope you find your next big passion. That's all there is to it.
