  1. I don't think this lighting change is intentional right now. Asked about it in guild and most folks didn't have it happening with their game. But it might be something they are working on for the future. Maybe the whole engine upgrade. The only places that are darker for me thus far, are places not in direct sunlight. Became super noticeable in The Silverwastes, while going through the map. The underground areas and the boss room are all noticeably darker then they use to be. While some areas are a bit too dark and I like when I am able to see clearly. And some places seem to bug out going from darker with some light, to straight all lights off. I overall like it. Went to the Ley-Line WP in TD and it looked amazing. I mean before all the lights seemed to just disappear when I ported around right quick and then came back. But a simple character swap fixed that.
  2. I mean I'm buying the base version which is nothing but 30. Even if I were to compare other games I could buy at that price. I know full well that I will spend more time in GW2, then I would with whatever I would buy otherwise. I had no higher expectations then more content from the get go. After all this time, I still enjoy the game as is. So new stuff is a straight bonus. Plus I NEED that necro elite hat.
  3. Of course you would have the same types of people other places. Folks don't disappear and then reappear for Twitch alone. But certain environments breed certain behaviors. And there is a very distinct feeling to Twitch and how people act on it. So it very much has to do with being on Twitch. There’s nothing distinct about it. If they streamed on YouTube, you’d have the same thing. People with anonymity will say whatever they want as there won’t be any repercussions. I've seen many YouTube stream chats, I've seen many Twitch chats. Not even remotely on the same level. Maybe in time but no.
  4. I simply want more content. But I have no personal attachment to this Cantha place.

  6. Because this community isn't a monolith. It's not all sunshine and nice people...... plus it's Twitch.
  7. Negative. If you want a pre, get it like everyone else. Craft, buy, or sacrifice a goat to RNGesuz like the rest of us. Someone having an account that old, doesn't mean they were actually around for that long. Got guild mates with almost double my account age, with a fraction of the playtime or investment. If we rewarding dedication. I'm sure a number of not as old people, would be trumping some older accounts.
  8. How? I hear this "but my work is worth nothing" so often and I never get an answer to why this should be the case? You got your legendary armor with that. You got what you were working for. If you didn't like wvw and did it anyway that's only your problem. GW2 started with the promise not to have a gear grind and WvW is the worst way to get gear or gold. So either you did this, because you played WvW anyway or you really have a serious problem with compulsion because of wanting to be recognized. What do you mean "How?" Is the difference between 500 vs 2000 somehow lost on you? People are miffed about going the distance to get something, then Anet retroactively invaliding whatever time they had to put in, for next to no reason. If that is difficult to understand, I don't know what to tell you. Also read the title of the thread. This is not about legendary armor. You could already make a full set before even hitting the 2k target. This is about the final tier set. Double also! What does what GW2 started with, have to do with anything? Whatever they started with, obviously ain't what they ended with, cause last I checked, you have to put in work for a lot of shiny things.
  9. You might want to double check the logical consistency of your statement. If ANET is concerned with participation numbers, why reduce the quantity of time required to obtain a prestige reward? That would be a counter-productive change (but still inline with ANET's "philosophy" on anything) To me it doesn't make less logical sense, it makes more ,because if you can't get people in the door their playtime in the mode is going to be 0 regardless. I suppose this change it to make the door seem more enticing. The item is now more realistically achievable thus more likely to get people in in the first place. The same follows for the argument "you think people will stick around?" The more people in the door the more people likely to stay after getting their item. Then you reduce some of it. You realign the ranks. You add new rewards. Hell add anything new. Not flat out reduce the entire lineup to 1/4th of what it was. We've already gone through this song and dance. Things done here and there to entice folks to wvw. And yet, here we are again. Except this time, they completely removed that long term gate. So when wvw looses players after they get what they want faster, and it will like every other time. Then what? Anet has done another thing, while removing a big long term thing. So when we go full circle as usual. We come out with less.
  10. So you made a personal choice to do things that grant less exp. That's a you issue. Now I can admit that 2k was high. But that was the plateau set for a specific set of skins. You could already get ascended armor at lower levels for cheaper to begin with. Even use that same gear to upgrade to legendary. That 2k rank was for something else specifically. If you don't want to grind, then don't grind. You weren't magically locked out of getting gear if you never hit that high.
  11. I'll support this only if they add a "Are we there yet?" action, in place of where the normal mount engage skill would be. Bonus points if it cycles through a few different ways to ask the question, on a minimum cooldown of 3 seconds.
  12. Actually a bit sad about this. Thought it was going to be a full reset.
  13. My thoughts are yay. Have a few left over trinkets and back pieces, with stats I no longer use/selected back when I had no idea what I was doing, but didn't want to get rid of. I kept them on the off chance something like this ever happened. Welp, it's happening.
  14. While I did do it for the skin. I mostly did it because I felt like I needed to. Like a rite of passage. Had been playing for a time, I had the resources, I had the experience. I had reached that point, so I felt that I had to take that final step.
  15. The music that comes from the folks who use the harp properly. Other then that, the music that plays for some areas. I can't think of those areas atm, so imma go with the harp as a stand in.
  16. The Dreamer without question. There was always more then one when I did meta/boss trains. Was like a jackhammer. Despite all the noise from this game. Despite so many people around using skills. Those damn neighs cut through it all like butter. Granted, I don't notice them all that much anymore. I'm normally listening to something else in the background while playing. But even just seeing one.....
  17. Eh sure, i'll answer your questions. -Do you play GW2 specificly for the social aspect? Felt like I was answer questions for tryouts.
  18. Thank you for your response. I don't think the game is going towards P2W, but I've seen it too many times in other games and it worries me. NCsoft is a Korean company and they love these P2W/Heavy microtransaction game styles. I know the parent company isn't the same as Anet, but they're still influential. Istan farm is all I've known since restarting a few months ago. Initially I left the game after launch a month later. Since there wasn't really end game to be had. I do agree Istan needed some nerfs, but they gutted it. Like you said I'll have to give it some time. I can still efficiently generate large quantities of gold. NCSoft can't do diddly to this game. At least not easily, and not without a decently sized risk to killing it in the process. They would have to gut/alter this game to a rather large degree, to do anything worth a squirt. I mean, I suppose they could slowly change some stuff. Shoehorn more things in the shop instead of putting anything in game. But the key thing they would need to do, to make this game P2W, can't be hidden. A gear treadmill. Also really? you farmed all of one place, it gets the long time coming nerf hammer. Then you think the sky is falling? Bruh.
  19. Really? nerfing Istan is what caused you to feel like this game is moving towards heavy microtransactions/P2W? A map that had been more so on the ridiculous side to begin with? I suppose this is what happens when you allow things to run wild for a while. People forget things weren't normal to begin with when you come for it.
  20. Come again? I'm not a shareholder, I doubt OP is a shareholder. But that is irrelevant. We are players. Some of us have both time and money invested in this game, on top of just liking it. Wanting to see it get better. This not even including anyone with any personal ties to the folks in Anet. Them not succeeding means this game could, and probably would be affected. Which then affects everyone involved.... to varying degrees of course. Either way, what happens to Anet is VERY MUCH our concern. I think that line of thought doesn't mesh with how business works or how players should think. You haven't 'invested' anything playing the game, sort of like how you didn't 'invest' anything if you go to the movie or out for diner. You exchanged your time/money for entertainment. There isn't an 'investment' per say because there isn't any expectation that Anet owes you more than what they explicitly defined for what you paid for. The entire point was players having reasons for wanting Anet to succeed. Whether through time and money invested in this game. Personal ties with the company, or just wanting to see it get better. Therefore making what happens to Anet, very much a concern of ours. Also, there is more then one definition for "invested". I was not speaking on literal business investments. Thought that would've been obvious, but I guess not.

  22. Dreadnought should've been a line of skins, instead of a one off for raptor. Even with the Warhound skin already in the picture, which is close, but not enough.
  23. Because not everyone actually dislike the games themselves. While you do have some folks who take joy in shitting on things, getting folks riled up to come to it's defense. Because lord knows that ain't hard to do. And I would be lying if I said I haven't kicked a hornets nest or two in my day. Some folks just dislike certain aspects of a game, that they feel messes things up. Doesn't mean they actually dislike the entire thing. Or simple investment. If you are heavily invested, you're less likely to leave. Which can lead into a cycle. Best example I can give. All of Blade and Soul. Amazing combat, amazing fashion with plenty of "plot" for those so inclined. But oh sweet jesuz where do I begin with the issues. A real wonder is why folks think it's just black and white. There is usually more to it.
  24. While I haven't done them recently since i'm busy with other crud. When I did them, it was for fun. Or in the case of Jormags lacky, trying to get something from that chest. It's a casual zerg moment, and I have always found it relaxing. Usually laid back decent people doing them as well.
  25. Hooray! Someone else who cares about suspension of disbelief! I think it also depends on what charr tails are for. Since they swing them around so much, I guess they're used for keeping insects off them. Could they still do that with an armoured tail? And would they even need to if they were fully armoured everywhere else? I really don't know. Maybe they're also for balance, in which case having a heavier tail might actually help balance a heavily armoured body... Something similar that annoys me is that one of the heavy armours - I think it's Dark Templar armour - has a metal plate over part of the tail that bends around as the tail moves. There's no way that a charr's tail could just bend metal around like that. Really though? We have reality crushing dragons, talking moose cats, humanoid salads, floating wing back pieces, we have killed literal gods, able to achieve some flight with griffons both with their weight and ours, weapons from an era of 8bit graphics, able to fully morph with potions, among many other things. And despite having actual armor with tail covering as well as outfits with covers where we can also be on fire. As well as a intelligent race of goblin creatures who have attained teleportation among other feats. Armoured tails is where we're drawing the line? ?. Look I get it, there has to be a line somewhere for the sake the whole. Otherwise you end up with UFOs and nazi germany in Jurassic Park, trying to splice dinos with cupcakes for a dangerous but! delicious combo. But this? ? ........ah well. I can't tell folks how to view things so eh.
