  1. Unfortunately, this affects us in PVP and WvW as well, where just by chasing the enemy you lose Mechanical Genius and incur lengthy cooldowns. It seems to me this stemmed from the engineer being OP at debut, when both the Mech and the Mechanist could fire off Aim Assisted Rockets, which at the time were critting for 15K (each). They nerfed AAR (needed), nerfed rifle (not needed), and then kept going... not really based on technical merit, but trying to appease non-engineers who were justifiably upset about routinely getting one-shot by the mech and not understanding why (it was AAR). MG was just unneeded after the other nerfs. If they're going to punish us for not standing still in competitive fights, give us back the old AAR so we get an ACTUAL reward for "good positioning". But my vote is just nix MG and leave the rest as it is. Mech is not OP in its current state in small-scale fights, and useless in large-scale fights, and getting rid of MG doesn't change any of that.
  2. Energy arrows. Immune to projectile hate. There's too much projectile hate in this game and all of our ranged attacks are projectiles unless you count flamethrower.
  3. I don't post on the forums often, but since I logged in to post about the Mechanical Genius changes I figured I'd write one more. I love playing the mech in wvw, but it's really only good for small scale. It faces the same problem all pet classes face in WvW, the pet dies instantly if it gets too close to a zerg. This has been a problem in many MMO's over the years, and several games have solved this problem by making pets immune to AE damage in competitive modes. If you want to kill a pet, target it and focus it down. Otherwise, AE skills don't even target the pet. This makes it possible to actually use the pets in large battles and not have to change builds (or even classes) when you help defend something.
  4. The new changes to mechanical genius give us a nearly 100% chance of getting increased cooldowns in WvW for things that are entirely beyond our control. Just by running, I lose mechanical genius, which means if I'm fighting an enemy that's not standing still the whole fight, I automatically incur lengthy cooldown increases which equates to a substantial dps loss for no apparent reason. Since the mech deals with issues like pathing, lag, and AI limitations, the chances of me being within 360 range of my mech when I need to use a skill are very unlikely, as WvW isn't a stationary activity like fighting an NPC. No one stands still in WvW. I don't know what problem Mechanical Genius was intending to fix, but it seems like a better fix to whatever that problem was is just to have the mech return to the Mechanist anytime it got beyond a certain range (say 1200 or 900 depending on what weapon was equipped at the time). These MG changes are simply not fun.
  5. My 3 man guild moved from FC to TC last month to play with some friends from ERP. I wasn't sure what kind of fights we'd find in the lower tiers, but we're still dying all over the map so that part feels about the same. This week was especially fun. I'm about to head out for a few days on vacation so won't get to see how this weekend ends up, but wanted to share some of the more fun fights from this week. Thanks for the fun fights Blackgate and Crystal Desert. Also, a shout out to all the guilds that come every time help is requested. CUTE, CC, TEN, OAK, DEaD, I know I'm forgetting a few, sorry. You guys rock.
  6. Blasting my reading comprehension? You didn't even tell me your weekend plans. You wound me, sir. OK, let me explain it to you friend. What YOU believe a roamer is, doesn't really matter, and is actually part of the problem. There is already an agreed upon understanding of what a roamer is in the community, and it's not what you seem to think it is. You said (and emphasized in bold) that you are a tag, you're not in a roaming guild, and you are in EBG. You are also talking about "roaming battles", zerg optimized builds, and positioning. This is how everyone reading this right now knows you're not a roamer. Roamers don't usually tag up, follow tags, and most of the time, tend to avoid both EBG and zergs. They simply go somewhere else to fight smaller groups or do whatever needs to be done to help the team, and help each other when they need a hand. They are usually INDIVIDUALS or SMALL GROUPS (usually 2 to 5 people max), and their builds are custom made for the task at hand, not zerging. If your blob happens to kill one, it's probably not something you want to run to the forums and brag about. I'm not making this up. Simply go to YouTube and search for GW2 Roaming. Check out Rogue Spectre's videos, from FC. Good stuff, and was actually featured in Noody's most recent #MRGA event. But more importantly, you come across as very abrasive for absolutely no reason. You seem to have come here looking for a fight, and I can't think of anything more boring. I'm not even on FC anymore, as you know. If you can demonstrate some level of mutual respect and genuinely have something to contribute or want to ask questions, I'm fine with continuing this conversation. Otherwise, good luck on reset and have a good weekend.
  7. Is your account inactive? 🙂 Indo's not on FC, but I seemed to face him at least once a month, and we got linked with him every so often. I've seen him within the last 2 or 3 weeks while I was on TC, and not long before that when I was on FC. Able was running groups the night before I left FC. He's still there doing his thing. I was talking to Gabe from LEGO a few days ago and he saying good things about Able so he's still out there doing his thing.
  8. What am I missing here? You claim to be a "prominent tag" who doesn't roam, and you're suggesting not one single roamer or small roaming guild poses a challenge to your blob? Not even Ser Jaime Lannister? He's good for 2 or 3 blobs by himself usually. He must be having an off week. What's the point of your post? This is supposed to be a positive thread about the TC community, you took the time to slam FC for no obvious reason other than... oh... I see what's going on here. I'm here for you bro. How are you doing? Are you getting enough rest? I'm thinking about grilling burgers this weekend. What are your plans?
  9. I left FC a few weeks back, so I can't really say what's going on there now, but none of it changes the fact that they went over 3 months undefeated in T1, and did it with mostly roamers. Maybe people left FC, maybe Maguuma got some fresh blood. You guys were just in T3 recently weren't you? That's the ebb and flow of gw2 WvW. I'm curious because I still have a few friends on FC, what roaming guild are you in, and which similarly sized FC roaming guilds are you farming?
  10. Just roaming around fighting people and ignoring all of the objectives isn't nearly as helpful for the team. Once the objective is taken, on to the next one, and the fights continue. As I said, they people I mentioned are just my opinions. Who would you name for your top 3 NA commanders?
  11. They would have to greatly change the game mechanics for this to be the case. My 3 - 5 man group takes a few keeps every night, and usually 1 or 2 garrisons a week. I don't really see any reason to require a large group to do something that can be done with 2 or 3 people. Granted if the keeps were well defended we'd be out of a job, but that's the double edged sword aspect of having everyone in a large zerg. You can take whatever you want with 50 people, but you can't defend well if you're all in one spot and the enemy is hitting 4 or 5 locations at the same time. Even if my small team gets wiped by a zerg, one of the other small teams on the map will benefit from it.
  12. I'm afraid that's the direction they're trying to push the game with Alliances. Just 3 giant 50 man zergs on every map. My guild is purpose built for getting things done while zergs are busy elsewhere. This is usually when we take our keeps / garrison back, or take their stuff. The fights we get into doing this are so much fun this way too. When 5 people jump out of a keep to kill your 3 man and you walk away with a shiny new keep, it's much more rewarding than taking a keep with 35 people, IMO. I really hope alliances doesn't break this aspect of the game.
  13. Wait. Are you trying to suggest there are servers where all the pugs just wander around with meta builds, play support, stay on whoever's tagged up and assist all the time and no one ever complains? Please tell us where this magical place is. I think we all want to live there. haha
  14. Depends on what you're comparing it to. If you're talking about rounding up every pug on the server up into one giant ball of death ready to take on all comers, I don't think anyone does it more effectively than Indo and I haven't seen anything like that on TC yet. Most pugs seem to hang out in EBG, where Janifier lives, and the people there seem to follow as well as anything I've seen from FC and the servers they've been linked to over the last year. No real discernible difference except that Janifier is there 24/7 as best as I can tell, only logging off to recharge once a week or so. 😄 I don't recall seeing a Disco or a Kazo yet, but I'm still pretty new to the server.
