  1. Just had that error after this last update. -usecoherent seems to be working and not crashing just clicking to log in. I had even tried to repair my client before I saw it did nothing lol.
  2. To me it's funny it says 10 minutes or so but then seconds later it goes "prepare to be teleported to Lion's Arch". Fastest 10 minutes ever. But yeah, when you are about to cap something it sucks it ruins it with such a short warning.
  3. That's a problem indeed, so here the current system could coexist getting participation from killing those that triggered the defense or the siege that hit it and kills within the perimeter. Another thing could be a similar thing like marked, when you are near a watchtower. It could trigger a marked not showed to avoid more clutter on screen and start a 30 seconds countdown once they are outside of the area. That'd give you a window to kill the invader and still count (just if the defense timer is still up). Actually most of the caps I get are silver if there is no fight involved. Simply killing a few guards, the lord and standing in the circle won't be enough for gold most times with the new system when even being late and hopping inside the circle would grant gold before. And all of these changes are weird. They lower the amount of supplies that smc, keeps and idk if anything else can hold so defenses don't last that long repairing. Now repairing is wrong. It seems they've never had someone in the servers they've played, if they play wvw, that builds dozens of catas or acs in random spots just to drain all supplies. Nothing can be done against that and it happens. So why suddenly this is an issue about supplies? And since still repairing grants exp I see people that do it even when there is no defense. I guess they'll remove that next, so just those that care about playing repair.
  4. Repairing walls wasting resources was a thing before adding the extra rewards either for the exp, the ridiculous amount needed for achievements or the most common: to get that sweet 10 mins reset on the participation clock especially during downtimes. This has multiplied the people doing it though so I was expecting some big change to happen. Thing is this just creates even more problems. Putting it short: based on experience you just get participation for defending a structure if you kill someone that actively attacked a guard, siege or wall/gate. The ideal thing would be that you got defense participation by killing any enemy player or siege within the perimeter of the contested structure. So many times, yesterday too in fact, I've defended especially towers, killed a few but since they weren't the ones using siege or all guards were killed by others I didn't get either objective defender daily nor defense participation. Also this takes away the incentive of repairing since now you don't get any reset from it be it contested or uncontested as they changed last time, just a small amount of exp. Maybe make it repairing just award bronze and nothing beyond that and bronze just give reset and achievement progression? That'd keep the usual thing while those that wanna farm ranks and mats would have to jump into a fight. Still killing someone in the perimeter should award defense as you've cleared the area from enemies but of course, when it's not contested it wouldn't do anything, just count towards an active defense event in your area.
  5. I mainly wonder if that will affect the participation resets. If you'll need a lot more stuff to do. As much as I like the gamemode it also feels stressful that if you aren't actively killing someone or taking something the timer decays and you get nothing. It makes sense that you wouldn't get anything for free. Buuuuut, at the same time it sounds quite newbie unfriendly forcing them into the zerg mindset. You be attacking or defending, if you don't kill someone or take an structure it's as if you did nothing. You might hit 100 people with siege. None dies. Nothing, no participation especially after removing siege attack participation refresh last time. But behold! I spend 10 supply repairing a wall: I get 10 mins reset and defense exp. It was a flawed system from the beginning. There is also another problem: healers. Will it count I kill (more like tag) 10 enemy players the same as my friend has healed us all for +100K HP? It's always been that if you don't tag anyone and just heal it's as if you hadn't been there. And of course, my dps soulbeast can end a session with 50 bags while the healer firebrand would get a handful. We'll see if at least it's a step making things better till more things are addressed.
  6. I totally forgot about this bs and I realized earlier when I got on mine when I saw the new icon. 360 radius as I remember. You both gotta use the same weapons, either melee or ranged. Or be very close while your mecha tanks if you wanna use it like it. Not fun at all, it adds some pointless complexity to the combat when it's something mainly controlled by the AI. When I use mace and melee mecha it's ok but even rifle + ranged was problematic looking for where it was during big fights. And even worse when they are fights that demand you to move around since the mecha will sit in one spot forcing you to call it towards you and then tell it to keep attacking. My guess is they feel like it's like a better ranger pet and they wanna make it harder to play as trade off. Either that or they have no clue what they are doing anymore seeing some of the new changes or what they wanted to do with deadeye kneel range lol.
  7. I've been saying Spear of Archemorus was going to be nerfed since I saw it during the beta. Anet would never allow a skill with a longer range than 1500 so now it's nothing special, it could be a regular utility instead of an elite. And seeing deadeye being nerfed to 1200... lol, what are you guys thinking... Removing the identity of a spec. You'd kneel and be rooted for more range and damage, that's your trade off as the sniper class, becoming vulnerable staying at the backline. Firebrand, I haven't seen how long would each page take to recharge, with double cds. Would each tome have hardly no cd then? And the tome shouldn't be put away even if you used up all of the pages if they are recharging. Just seeing those costs, when you could use 5 - 8 skills per tome, waiting for the cds, now you barely can cast 2 or 3 accross all tomes and idling for longer cds to cast a more powerful skill twice. Massive nerf. Changes in competitive so it's not so op, ok, but that'll affect pve too, and if it's not pvp I'd like my healer to keep the team alive. I don't know why someone would be happy about those changes for pve if they don't just want their fav class to replace healbrands at the cost of not buffing theirs but nerfing the other one. Look I can use my support class now, not because I heal for more but because they heal for less. And the mechanist one, well, basically stacking with your mech. Either you both are melee and more easily you stay together or you are ranged and hope that when you dodge or have to move your mech (that doesn't move while attacking) doesn't go too far away and is obliterated at half stats. You can't be ranged and let your mech tank or the opposite, be melee and let the mech attack ranged, forcefully restricting the playstyle options. I gotta be recalling it all the time so I get the boons from its skills and now it'll make it even worse trying to constantly be on top of it. So a few good changes here and there but with some huge things that will push me away from playing some classes. Sad for those that main them.
  8. What's the point of selling sets of backpack that expand into a glider with the same skin if when you change templates if you aren't using the same backpack or especially colors it feels out of place? Wings and such could blend, but not all special gliders. And colors... you could have a stylish black and gold armor but your glider is a pink magical girl glider to match your other flashy template. And same mounts. In a heavily fashion based game it's such a huge overlook. I don't bother switching colors because I switch a lot but for many it's surely a big deal.
  9. I find it very basic but very profitable too with a bit of luck. It's pretty much like in other rpg games, like Stardew Valley. The bad thing is there is no actual difference between fishes, just your fishing power. That's a turn off. You might have a really bad time catching one with a way faster speed than your bar, constant changes of direction... and it turns out being an old boot. Then you catch one that slowly moved not doing anything and it's a legendary. The random catch could stay but at least feeling like battling the fish was worth a higher quality fish would be nice. On the other hand, my guess it's fairly easy like this (at least if you have enough power to make it green) is so most people could do it. I know some rpg game that has a more engaging fishing that makes you press more or less keys in more or less time according to if you are fishing a lesser tier fish or a top one. If that was added here I could see people claiming they can't type fast enough or that it's too difficult. I was wondering why seeing how there are bot chips for other masteries, why there isn't a chip to make your bar bigger or faster. That'd help in places that you are forced to fish with yellow power till your stacks are high enough, naming places like Ember bay, that with everything maxxed and fishing food you still can't make it to green till you have 20 - 30 stacks. But yeah, back to the question, it's a chill way to make a fair amount of gold if you compare it to fractals and such. If the gold incentive wasn't there I probably wouldn't waste time on it, I'd be doing something else.
  10. I just had to get used to it but it's so annoying. A lot of times if I switch to another class I use the wrong skills, especially talking about profession mechanics. Renegade uses the 1st slot for switching legends while 2nd 3rd and 4th are the actual skills. You now use a mechanist and your skills move to the 1st slot while others appeared to me as not assigned and clashing with the same that rangers use. Ranger same, with some going to the 5th slot. It's a mess if you have to use the same keybinds for all profession skills for every class, so you have to either get used to it, rebind to those classes you use the most or just everytime you play something different.
  11. It's just the Steam release, they can't afford to miss the chance of making new players to gear their accounts up at full price. Sadly happening right on a usually more important anniversary than others being a decade, so you'd expect many things going on sale, a big celebration and all. By now I've already given up on anything special happening. It usually would be almost or over one month of items being announced and getting their discount every few days. It seems the vouchers were seen as sales since you could get more expensive items with them, same some items here and there with a shy discount, but not what you'd expect. Also getting us used to those supply drops on special events like the end of LWS4, EoD release and the last 2 anniversaries... but not releasing a very special one for this one. The mount license was the only special thing I see they've done, if you put away the video mistake lol. I don't know their numbers but to me, it's a virtual item, no real cost to them and with the big amount of mounts available, even if they'd lose some of the sales from people that would have bought them normally they also earnt those that found they want more mount skins. Basically an investment disguised as a sample. Time to wait for Halloween then.
  12. In my experience it's very rare, people are usually chill, but there are some idiots out there that think they own the game. You are better off ignoring them and reporting and blocking if they get too annoying. Also realize that him trying to pvp you just means he's out of arguments and the only way to prove he's right is beating you in a fight. You already won, let him be mad, he can't report you for killing mobs even if you did it on purpose but you can report him for verbal harassment.
  13. The tasks are 10 events in each core area, HoT, PoF and EoD maps in general, the maps where we fought the dragons, world bosses and then pvp and wvw. PvE already has a huge chunk of all of the achievements and virtually all of them could be done casually, just very time consumming and repetitive if you don't really have a reason to play there. If you asked for 10 successful raids you'd just like to see the forums burn. Just remember the recent events with the turtle, a hard meta and a single strike. I agree that it's silly that you have to play gamemodes that you don't like, as if everyone liked everything. And it's true they hardly ever justify anything or simply give any answer. I have to wonder if they even read anything here or just wait till there are 20 or 40 pages of people complaining (usually those defending them and those complaining) to finally send a short post as damage control. I simply gave up, since no matter how much I point at something is stupid they'll remain silent and everything will carry on. Related to that class balancing, I left wvw for over a year once the cc = no damage balance patch was released. I still hate it. The only way they could listen is if it hurts their wallet but otherwise to me this just feel like a place for them to have a laught at the drama they've caused and people arguing (you know what I'm referencing). And that last explanation was actually the same thing but said with longer words. No real justification about the changes. It seemed like an improvement, but not really. For them that's the only way it seems. And don't get me wrong because I'm not defending them. Their tactic to shove people into those gamemodes is to show a shiny and then say "you have to play this specific gamemode that not everyone plays". I haven't done raids for years and I don't feel like doing strikes, being mini-raids. What happened? The turtle, if you want it you have to beat one, and not an easy one. They also posted some time later that they were proud of more people trying them, they've blatantly lured people into them giving as rewards the turtle, legendary chests with clovers from the return achievements, taking away the mystic coins from fractals to give them to EoD strikes, one of the weekly summoning stones... I spent months just needing that strike to get the mount, putting it aside, and I just did it to help a friend. I haven't set one foot into strikes again and probably won't do. So what could they do to attract people to try a gamemode they want to populate without making those that hate it to have to play it? Not this. It's not the worst they've done though but could be better for sure.
  14. Well in the end all you'd be missing is skins. It doesn't prevent you from playing other things or getting some mechanic like a mastery or mount. Wvw was pretty much promoted with the warclaw. It had a couple weeks of massive queues I hadn't seen before and then things went back to normal, some probably staying. You got exclusive things in pvp and wvw like their legendary armor, backpacks and trinkets. Even promoting them with the announcements of extra exp, magic find and such doesn't really work if people aren't forced into it. Also this is a set of achievements about the whole game, so it makes sense all gamemodes are in there, just pve is way bigger and has more representation.
  15. I do wvw but I'm not into pvp even if they are quite similar. Thing is the 10 pvp matches take a lot longer than simply escorting 10 dolyaks (say 25 mins, just give it swiftness) and you usually wouldn't have to fight anyone if done near your keep, same simply repairing a wall that's being trebbed or taking a sentry. Thankfully it's not strikes or raids or that you need to win the matches. Wvw could also have been way worse, like taking 10 structures instead. Still there would be a chance that you could entirely avoid any fight or letting your blob carry you. It's their way to promote people trying other gamemodes. It sucks, but at least this time it's easily doable with enough time.
  16. I've been saving a bit more gems than the previous years for a while just for this if being the 10th anniv they released an even bigger pack since it'd be special. I'd like to know too if they have any plans in case I could spend those gems on a good regular sale rather than keep waiting for the last day if they decide to sell one. Surprises are fine, no need to tell the content, but at least hinting that there will be one for this event like during EoD release too would be nice.
  17. The one thing I hate about rooting skills is that if you don't fully wait for it to finish and you walk, be it accidentally or intended, you interrupt it, putting it on the usual 3 seconds cd, or if it started and simply hit once on a several hits skill it goes on full cd. Very slow movement but not needing you to stand in place would be ideal. And yeah, that one, hundred blades, it's so stupid that you are held in place, a lot of times slashing the air because your target moved a bit. In pve it's usually ok but not lately with some kinds of enemies that move away from you or disperse when pulled together, and of course terrible in competitive if you don't immobilize, knockdown or stun.
  18. Rather than picking an inamovible main you are better off picking a few and having each with at least a couple different builds be it power, condi or support. Not the first time I thought it was fine to gear up a character for a build with ascended just for time later it being nerfed to the point it wasn't ok to play anymore compared to alternatives (maining power herald for so long I was forced into condi renegade with the nerfs for example). Since then I either stay in exotics being easier to get from selectable chests or the expensive but more convenient way, legendaries. You probably see tons of mechanist around but with the next heavy nerf patch we'll see if many remain needing a new build / gear or just switch to the other buffed classes. And it's actually a way to move the economy and an indirect gold sink since at least virtually all exotics are soulbound and even ascended / legendary have the armor weight problem. Putting it short: play everything, stick to a few you enjoy but don't get too attached as things change over time. Just have fun, it's a game after all.
  19. I don't think I'd ever use any of those weapons tbh, but if it was for the sake of collecting the thing is you also gotta spend quite the amount of gold. 122 per set totalling 244g so it's not just "I don't know what to do with the tokens" but "I don't know what rewards to get for playing the event without also draining my wallet in an obvious gold sink". I wonder who besides skin collectors and someone that really likes the set actually gets them. For new players it's a no go, they have better things to spend their little gold onto and a lot cheaper weapons to gear up. Being tradable would be nice. The tasks aren't hard. But compared to the other festivals that you can farm for gold in any way (even sab, selling the weekly draconic lodestones comes to mind), this festival punishes you for playing it, you lose gold. So I'd say either a tab for trading for more regular tokens, a bundle of zephyrite chests since it's 1 favor per day? or something that's not literally trash. Or you know, the weekly and the other vendors accepting a proportional amount of favors instead of tokens. I'm just doing it for the AP and a few of the minis and the novelties that I don't have yet and ironic how those use just tokens and neither favors nor gold, so they keep piling up with no use. Once I get them all I'm done with the festival, just blitz is ok enough. Such a huge difference between festivals, so many of my friends and guildies that are completely ignoring it when they'd farm the others.
  20. Being able to exchange them for festival tokens would be nice. I have almost 60 and barely anything worth getting but always short on festival tokens. Doing SAB for ~1 hour a day I get enough bauble bubbles to get the whole weekly vendor inventory a couple days in and have many left. This festival? Even doing it daily I barely reach anything. It takes 12,500 festival tokens for everything. 80 for blitz gold so 240 if you were to just do the daily 3 for the achievement. Around 150 from treasure hunt + effigy. And 120 for all 3 races. 3570 a week if you were to do everything without farming. 8930 tokens left or ~111 blitz at week / ~16 blitz a day (totalling 19). This festival is extremely grindy so if they were to add something I'd prefer festival tokens rather than buying trash off that scammer quaggan. Btw, if you were to just get the voucher and the legendary shards you still need 11 blitzs a day. No idea if they design these things so people spend hours farming not even to make gold and also this, nothing worth it once you are done with the festival exclusive items making the grind even more worthless.
  21. If it was at least every hour it'd be ok enough, but not 2 hours. The other one sometimes is tied to blittz but it happens often enough it's not a problem, you just show up, contribute to filling the bar and ready to go. Even for regular dailies you can skip things like a world boss that happens once every few hours but not this if the special currency is tied to not one but 2 specific dailies instead of giving the full thing for completing the 3. A mystic coin is nice and all but it'd make sense the opposite thing, completing the event daily rewarding the event token and the mystic coin from something more time consumming. Personally I don't really have any use for the tokens but new players and those collecting the skins are sure affected.
  22. Firestorm Logging Tool 1000 gems, convenient infinite uses vs limited regular, coming with a glyph worth +150g making gathering 50% faster, you'll see it way more times than the bot and in any map, not exclusively in Cantha. On the other hand, not cute cat, but also no special function or saving and as it was said, no dyeing. Even a skiff is ok-ish to cost that much because even without special functions you can anchor it anywhere and be permanently in display. Even a mini does more for less.
  23. It must be the revenue, because if we talk about the size of the community, just remember how the voicing is in English (makes sense being American), but then French and German, Spanish is text only, and I'd be sure this one is bigger than the other 2. For many text only would be enought though, like Brazilians have asked about their language isn't anywhere before. To me it feels like Spanish was added as courtesy for Americans that speak it and being a big language in the world. But besides that maybe it doesn't leave enough money combined than the others to invest into it, and then same partners, raffles etc. And if it does then they don't care. I myself play in English because I prefer it original, some translations are quite bad and a lot of jokes are removed because they can't be translated, besides I normally play with people playing it in English (not all Americans) but not everyone can speak or even read it so they wouldn't buy the game or stay for much longer to spend more on gems. It's understandable though to feel disconnected from the game if you can't participate in what they do, you be either a paid customer or F2P. I just assumed I'm able to play but that's it, because it's a game from a different country, so we are the foreigners there. Their other option would be IP blocking so just those countries they can do physical things in would be allowed to play the game, but that'd be worse than this. Partners on the other hand seems doable, but then the controversy about "And what about partners from my country?" that you've already seen. Too complicated with too many countries and different languages not represented. I have no hope on them doing anything but good luck with it.
  24. If those items were much more common that many people got them then they wouldn't be that much expensive when you looted one, back to complaining about a bad rng. To me there are way too many items and too expensive to get them all, so you just try to get what you most like. If you can't be lucky and get the drop then you just can save gold to buy it. This is Fashion Wars 2, so the flashy stuff will be usually very rare and very expensive. You surely can see around people that complained before about they want more exclusive skins to show off. Like once you see 5 people with Twilight in the same spot waiting for a world boss or whatever it stops being legendary or unique. By now it's just expensive for the mats used, being base for Eternity, and the legendary armory convenience, but it's a quite common legendary skin If it makes you feel better, my rng sucks too.
  25. On paper it looks like a good idea. In practice I'd say it's not. I could and I have led certain things I like and I've done them dozens or hundreds of times in a random group or following someone else. If I had to even do raids or some other content I'm not good at or I simply don't like, someone extremely good at leading something would be seen as a noob tag over someone that did everything but maybe is trash at leading, what you are trying to fix. To make it usable it should change your tag type/rank per content instead of in general. That's not viable though and also very confusing. Another thing, nobody is born knowing how to lead here. This is a huge problem in wvw, at least in my server, with some people that will literally insult you over not being good. That's why I refuse to tag up there. You can't learn because you'll be bashed over any mistakes. Either you ignore or block those idiots or don't tag and people leave since most play there in blobs. And this kind of tag would be noob tag (don't follow) => not good => fine if nothing else => follow this tag. The current system has flaws but not everyone would burn 300g if they didn't want to actually lead or at least learn. I'd stay with this one.
