  1. I find it odd that people here seem to think a game is only worth investing time and money in if it's going to last FOREVER. All things end. By the time GW3 is in beta we're probably about fifteen or sixteen years into GW2. If you have heavily invested time and/or money in return you've hopefully had a great time, made new friends, had some wonderful memories. It's a bargain really. I'm thrilled by the idea of GW3. All those years of learning, new engines, tools, you name it. There are so few exciting and proper MMOs coming out I feel the market is ripe for a big hitter to do something completely fresh and set up another decade to twenty years of game. I've stopped playing this one having spent a thousand dollars or more on it. It brought my family together to play it. We had great fun, but none of us want to be doing Octovine for another ten or twenty years. not when the devs could come up with something that's next level good. They may well look at Path of Exile's plan to transfer over anything compatible. While POE2 started as an expansion and that may be part of the reason they can offer this, I'm sure Arenanet can do better than a Hall of Monuments for player achievements and collectibles too.
  2. Yes, those particular ones do, but there are many sets I've not seen come back that you can preview in the Vintage chest from the BL merchant.
  3. Hi, does anyone know if the awesome gw2skills build editor might still get an update for the new patch?
  4. Skin matters more than the QoL for me, so I might have had regrets had I worked on a gen1 back in the day and then preferred the gen2 equivalent. Other than that, it's far easier to craft whatever ascended you need when you need it. Who changes their stats often enough to need so many variants when you see how few stat variants end up on build sites? I only crafted my legendaries for the skins. It's why I'm not going to craft armour or trinkets as none appeal.
  5. I think a main hand Focus could be cool. Insofar as the druid and soulbeast deal with spirits and souls of animals and nature, a focus that brought that mastery of natural things into offensive skills could be cool, e.g. the focus could direct spirits not dissimilar to elementals to achieve certain effects, defensive or offensive. Perhaps the focus calls up vines to act as aegis or to 'spear' opponents, pull them etc. It could also perhaps more subtly buff, e.g. lending a 'strength of the earth' to the actions of your party for a quickness buff and give us that utility, or even root to the earth for a stability option.
  6. 'Ashes of Lust' sounds like a Metal album 🙂
  7. I buy gems to convert to gold because time is the resource I'm short of, not money. If I had lots of time, of course I wouldn't need to buy gold, I'd just farm it. I don't spend so much that I just buy legendaries or Perm Bank expresses etc. but I do buy mats and cosmetics, which is almost exactly a tradeoff between farming time and money.
  8. I've been trying this build: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?POwAUdjlVwWYUsPWJWeP3tsRMH-zRZYVRNDNoj3gwDjuUIsC8nmA8pBqA-e The thinking was, in OW and even in pug fractals, you're with groups of people that occasionally need some support, heals, condi removal.. Condi is generally not so good in organised fractals, but in the more chaotic pugs, damage is a bit less rotation reliant, and the cele stats and dodge roll buffs from Wilderness Survival give you some leeway when things aren't smooth, not to mention dodging also gives LoyF buffs. The rez of Glyph of Stars can make a big difference on occasion though you might consider Entablge for soloing and more frequent proc of the Krait runes. Positioning makes a big difference to the build, and I have always been too lazy to make the effort, so I'm using this to force me to get better at it for better dps. I've gone Jacaranda because it helps boost the vuln condi for increasing dmg for everyone around you.
  9. Had same issue. Trouble is, the Addon manager says it will disable and even uninstall arcdps, then when I reboot there it is, and when I go back to Addon manager, Arc is showing as installed. Is the Addon manager itself a bit rubbish at doing this stuff?
  10. If no 'sensible' person is using Wilderness Knowledge, surely it warrants a buff to make it more viable? Otherwise what's the point of having three options in traitlines at all?
  11. That's fair 🙂 I've made some changes, improving sustain significantly with Predator's Cunning and have been testing it against a couple of champions with adds with success even without figuring out a rotation. I'm still not leveraging the healing enough, no doubt Druid would lean into that for more group support, but finding a build that leans into all the stats sufficiently has been enjoyably frustrating (I'm a bit weird). I certainly posted it prematurely, I shan't do that again. It's been interesting to see how adjustments to improve it mean becoming more and more similiar to the builds you'd see on Metabattle and others. Kind of obvious, but at least with Ranger I'm struggling to see the value of any prefix outside Berserker/Assassins, Harrier's or Vipers for Pow/Heal/Condi respectively. A Guardian can make good use of Seraph's, for example. Maybe that's the point of some prefixes, they're targeting certain class's strengths? I have been looking at Ritualist prefix for a melee SLB boon support. Anyone tried the prefix?
  12. I tried out a Seraph prefix a while back and had some great feedback that helped me theorycraft a little better. Well, maybe. I wanted to see if I could put a build together with another less common prefix, the (Spear)Marshal's prefix. This is for pve, mainly open world and can work in solo but is geared a little more towards group. http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?POAFcEFaYZFMKGCLiZilvz9TtkjMH-zRRYmRP4G+yo3UIkKw9pRB/WgKA-e With Marshal's, it makes sense to leverage the heal stat, but given the prefix is +Pow, +Precision, +Condition Dmg +Healing, it obviously suffers from a lack of Ferocity and Expertise and can't support more robustly as there's no Concentration either for boon uptime. Damage is thus important to improve the viability of this build. The Power and Precision at least give the raw damage output a lift but I've chosen condi weapons for more sustained damage and to leverage the runes. The key here, which I learned from the previous thread, is the utility of the Runes of Aristocracy. They proc 5 Might stacks off applying Weakness with only a 1 second cd, while boosting Might duration to 50%. With Marsh Drake's F2, Winter's Bite and CotW applying weakness, that's a good few stacks, but the Frost Spirit also provides more might for self and party. This should boost raw and condi damage in tougher solo encounters while also helping out the group. Sustain in solo is enhanced through Wilderness Survival and the high healing boosting regen, while both pets, Healing Trap, Moa Stance, CotW provide either healing or protection and resistance. Hidden Barb, Instinctive Engage and both pets' F3 provide Quickness which procs Essence of Speed that boosts boons you have by 2 seconds in duration. It takes a lot of concentration to get an additional 2 seconds to active boons, so this mitigates the absence of Concentration. As mentioned above, to make the most of the healing stat, I've got a Healing Trap and shareable Moa stance for regen along with Photosynthesize on the Jacaranda, while both pets provide raw healing and condi removal, the latter you also have on weapon swap. Quick Draw provides versatility by massively shortening CD on whatever is the best skill needed for your situation on weapon swap. Both pets also provide Vitality, which is boosted, and also boosts Expertise, through Taste For Danger. Food and Utility tops off Expertise boost to give a 34% condi duration, along with the sigils. Both pets also provide a 25% healing boost per target. I assume that applies to regen, but I'm not sure.
  13. WvW doesn't have to have quite as many large blobs, on huge open maps. It could be large arenas, Battlefield size maps, where there's room to take various objectives but you still have teams of perhaps 20. I happened to be talking about pve, but your point about code that can't cope isn't germane to my point. You have to have good code for the purpose to which you're creating it. WvW might make it stand out now, but DAOC was doing it way earlier. I don't see WvW as perfect merely due to its map scale.
  14. I like the idea that there are viable pve LI builds, but not as good as builds with a full rotation. It's simply more inclusive. My dad has one good hand, the other cannot navigate the keys particularly well, so a build that lets him do around 15-20k dps for pressing a couple of buttons is actually a real boon to him in open world, it makes him feel like he's not holding me and his grand daughter back when we play together.
  15. I'm advocating smaller scale fights, not the free for all open world meta bosses we have now. If it's anything like developing with Unity, which is what my studio specialises in, you'd be partnering with a service level agreement that meant input onto the engine feature roadmap so presumably could get or otherwise leverage features coming from other dev partners that help in regard of more simultaneous players on a map.
