  1. I fully expect them to sell things. Of course they should, they are a business. While this certainly won't tell you how much people would have bought, I can give you my personal example only. If it was 400 gems I would have bought one for all of my accounts because I think it's cute, and I think it would have been reasonable at 400. So I have 4 accounts, so they would have gotten their 1600 gems, and the cat is already drawn and animated so the work load isn't any more if I buy 1 or if I buy 4 for them. If it had been 800 gems I would have grumbled a bit over the price but bought it for my main account, they still would have made some money. At 1600 gems in this current economy with inflation and all, I cannot justify 1600 gems for ONE item for one account that I barely see. I know to a degree spending 1600 on 4 as opposed to 1 might not make sense because I am still spending the same amount. But the perception of getting more for the money is important. So that is one example of how they would have made more. At this price, they made nothing from me. Personally I think they should have put it in the boxes. They definitely would have made more through key sales.
  2. Exactly, 400 gems I would have bought one for each account. 800 gems I would have bought one for one account. 1600 gems...no thank you.
  3. I look upon it like entertainment the same as if I watch a movie or read a book. Just because the movie ends or the book is finished doesn't mean the time (and money) goes poof. I still enjoyed it while participating in it. Same with a game.
  4. I was all set to buy it after they showed it last week. I thought aww so cute! I want that, then I logged on this morning and saw the price and was SHOCKED. They have been doing 3 mount skin packs for that same price. So yeah, no thank you!
  5. I always find this a fascinating argument. I get it to a degree, but then again I don't. Before GW2 I played games that had gear/weapon upgrades locked behind paywalls, costumes were RNG based and character based instead of account wide. Yes GW2 does charge for expansions. Of course they do, but since I have been here (just under 2 years) all those earlier LW episodes have been made available for free a couple different times. I would assume they might be again in the future. Their cash shop is the absolutely least intrusive cash shop I have ever seen in a F2P game. And they have the option to turn gold into gems...something in all the endless games I have played in the past I have never seen before. Yes they could make it clearer that the LW seasons are a separate purchase. But if you are patient and play the expansions you already bought they might come up again for free, who knows.
  6. I'm sure this has been said since I didn't read all 5 pages of the thread, but I will say it again...yes you can buy them straight up for gold which can be gotten through gems. But the big difference is if you buy them direct Anet gets money period. The way it's set up now, by using gems converted to gold yes Anet gets money but someone still had to grind it out and craft the weapon you buy from the market. So the time investment is still there...whether by you or someone else you're paying for that service. That also limits the amount of legendaries in the game. Anet is very good at finding things for people to do to keep playing the game. That is why it's still successful after all these years. Also when I first started playing if I had seen legendaries for sale in the gem shop I would have automatically assumed the entire game was P2W and left. It's bad optics for new players.
  7. Ew no thank you. I have plenty of romance in real life, I don't want my little in game asura to be romantically involved with anyone.
  8. I am not usually an achievement hunter unless it gives an item I want. For the few I have done, some of them really are kind of long and difficult. But that's ok it gives us things to do. It all comes down to how much you want the thing you are working for I guess.
  9. I have been wondering why the timer for gathering Canach Coins with your bot always goes from 5 minutes to 2 minutes? Is there a certain number that have to be gathered to get the full amount of time or something? Because if there is, we never hit it.
  10. I always find it odd that somehow longevity means you can't have an opinion. Before I started commenting on EoD this month I had two posts on the forum. I read the forum for over a year though. Everyone's account has to be new at some point, but that doesn't invalidate their opinion. When your account was new your opinion was still valid right? As for the first part of your comment, I think people are more focused on what the NPC's are saying because the entire world has become polarized by politics in the last few years. We can't get away from it. I think that is why some people are so upset with this. This is escape from real life. It's a fantasy. So they don't want to have everything be politically charged, even if that is a large part of nearly every storyline ever written on a game. I can see both sides of this argument, and I respect everyone's right to their opinion even if I don't agree with that opinion.
  11. Out of all the issues in the game this one seems pretty low on the list of things that needs changing.
  12. I had this problem too, then I got a VPN...problem solved. I know it's not a perfect solution since it costs 6.50 a month, but it was worth it to not have to endlessly repeat instances.
  13. I liked Rama...well I did right up until the very end. Then he reminded me of Logan, unable to tell the girl he likes that he likes her. Enough with that.
  14. I've done most of my runs with her too, she is awesome. I guess that's why I was so shocked by this incident.
