  1. Ahhh ok, so all 5 of the "core" specializations need to be maxed out before you can use the elite ones. Thanks!
  2. I'm closing in on 80 (currently 68) and have 40 hero points unspent. I've got the key skills that I need unlocked and I have 4 regular specs unlocked and mostly maxed out (enough to have working builds for the weapons I'm using). My question is, should I spend the 40 points I have or save those points plus the remaining points I get to start unlocking the elite spec at 80?I read that it takes 250 points to fully unlock the elite specs. Will the points come easy after level 80? Should I save? Thanks.
  3. I'm new to the game, what is special about these? Are they just new skins for the regular mount types? Are they limited edition and won't be sold again after the promotion? Really enjoying the game but my highest character right now is 65 so I haven't unlocked mounts yet.
  4. I'm curious to see how it goes. Aren't they also going to release on Steam as well? That's a big potential audience. I assume the expansion will have some hook aimed at the wider steam audience.
  5. I agree with you completely. I also play WoW and that flying mount freedom feels like it kinda ruins the game. Maybe it's because the way WoW designs the terrain but there simply is no exploration. You fly in a straight line between point A and point B. You land, do your thing, and then leave. I enjoy the idea of "It'd be great if I could jump way up there" and then have a mount you can get on your character to achieve that. Once you have true flying mounts all of that is gone. You don't use ground mounts. You don't run or walk. You fly, always. Why wouldn't you? And then, as they did with WoW, inevitably when the devs realize they don't want to develop a flight-based game they have to artificially impose flying mount restrictions in some zones but are also designing for flight some time after release. It all feels forced and just not fun. I think WoW's flying mounts are a cautionary tale. I say leave the mounts as-is in GW2, more fun in the long run.
  6. I play GW2 along with WoW and other games. I'm definitely on-and-off with GW2 but it's a fun game. So far I've got a lvl 65 engineer that's fun to play. I've tried out warrior, mage, and a rogue, currently working on a mesmer. All of them in various states of below lvl 30. I like the combat and zone completion in GW2 and the story is pretty engaging for me. It's alot fun trying out the different builds as well. Crafting seems useful in this game, at least during leveling, which was a welcome change. Other big thing for me is that I can just log in and play and it doesn't have to be a dedicated time chunk where any mistake ruins a "run" for me and whoever I'm playing with. I'm definitely in the casual end of the game but I find the payment model great. Pay for expansions, no monthly sub, cash shop if you want it. Works well for me as a game I can easily play and keep alongside everything else.
  7. Personal story is also 1-5 man content. If it can be done solo, nobody will bother grouping up. I'm afraid it'll be solo content that you can trivialize with a 5 man group. Wait, dungeons can be done solo? Do I need to grossly out level the dungeon to do it solo or does it scale?
  8. Well I guess they dont want us to get the few materials from those items every time we level up another character. Yeah, I assume they have their reasons behind it. Hasn't been much of an issue for me. This is my first character, I'm at level 50 now. I think I worked up around 8g from just questing and selling junk. I've been gathering but spent around 3g buying wood/leather items to craft weapons and gear and get crafting up to the same level of materials as where I'm questing now. The items I have to delete seem to be pretty few. So far I've had all the things I need just from questing. If I had been more diligent about gathering early on I would have saved the gold but I'm guessing by end game I'm not going to care about 3g spent on mats. Crafting has also been pretty satisfying to level up and also useful.
  9. New player. When I see that I can't salvage items I move them into a different bag. Then I go to a vendor and if I also can't sell then I just drag each one off of the bags and click yes to delete. Seems odd to me to have those types of items but whatever.
  10. New player. I like the bag system so far and do mostly what Jilora does. I use the deposit button quite a bit to free up space, salvage stuff, then deposit again and then compact. The useful stuff stays at the top of my inventory which seems to be mostly consumables and some items that seem important but I haven't looked up what they do yet. I like having them as buttons instead of going into the gear menu.
