That's actually a good video and a good summary above. But what I think OP is saying is that the description for the item does not specifically say that it is not account wide. So taking the description for the "Equipment Template expansion slot": _"Double-click to consume.Add an extra Equipment Template tab to the character. Each character can unlock up to 4 additional Equipment Template tabs. Equipment Template tabs allow a character to swap to an additional set of equipment. "_ From the above, as it says "Add an extra Equipment Template tab to the character", I would think that it is clearly stated that this would affect the character that you use this on only and would therefore not be account-wide. Unless you are speed reading through it, I think it is fairly straightforward. As for the "expensive" part, given that OP brought in monthly subscription, I assumed that he was upset at having to spend real money for it. But as previously stated, gems can be obtained from in-game gold and therefore does not have to be purchased using real money. Let's be clear, I am fully aware, and have previously acknowledged, that getting the necessary amount of gold from playing only can take time. All I was stating is that Anet have given players two options to get those expansions:1- Gold from playing and therefore not to pay a penny IRL2- Use real money for convenienceSo I believe that Anet have not made this "pay to win" so to speak and have been reasonable in that it is not inaccessible for players who don't want to spend real money. Will it be time-consuming to unlock all the slots for all your characters? Yes it will! But as far as real money is concerned, it does not have to cost unless you want to.

Everything you wrote is obvious! I've always been amazed at people who say the obvious and take the side of the developers! This is the same as standing with foam at the mouth and proving that this or me product is as cheap as possible, and you know the pricing and cost of products, such a concept ??? It is clearly not obvious as you stated that the method of buying new slots was "expensive and stupid". I merely demonstrated as to why it is not as expensive as you thought and merely inconvenient. I am not sure what you are then asking when you say "you know the pricing and cost of products, such a concept?". But I am going to assume that you are asking if I know how Anet price their products and make their money. I do not, but if make something free to the players, I believe it is safe to assume that this will be one less source of income for Anet. And as previously pointed out, as this is not a monthly subscription game, that will mean less potential monthly income. That's because Anet have made it so Builds stored can be viewed by any of your characters. So it makes sense that your build storage is account-wide. Characters cannot view each others bag inventory slots so that's why these are character specific. Would I have liked that one expansion slot purchase affects all the characters? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, I understand why Anet did it this way and it's not a game changer. And that's my point, the slots don't add anything. They don't stop you from playing the game to its fullest. They are just quality of life extras which you can still get for free. I repeat once again, it says open the equipment slot for this character, which is understandable, but nowhere is it written that this is specifically for one character, and not for the entire account. The point here is that if the description says it is one way, then it is obviously not the other. So if I tell you that this kennel is for dogs only, are you going to say: Well, it does not specifically say that it is not for cats? So as the description says: It is for this character, then it is obviously not account wide and for the other characters as well.

First, the "equipment expansion slot" (I assume you meant the "bag slot expansion"? Or the "Equipment Template Expansion"?) does appear to say specify. According to the wiki, they both say: "Add an extra Equipment Template tab to the character" or "Add an extra bag slot to a character's inventory". In both cases, it says to "A character". It does not say account. If it is different in the game, then I guess that's an error. Maybe someone can confirm below? Second, let's go through your "expensive" claim. The game itself is what I would call very good value for money. It gives out a lot for the purchase price (I consider that the amount of content released in the expansions is worth the respective expansion price as well. Especially since you can get 1 for 2 at the moment) and no monthly subscription. Honestly, you get a lot of content and regular updates (I will not go through the quality of the updates/content as that is discussed at length on many other threads and the opinion will differ). As you then mentioned, none of the additional store expansions require actual money as you can buy them from in-game gold. The time this takes will vary between players. Beyond the purchase of the game itself, any other purchase is optional. You don't have to buy a new character slot. You want to buy one to play more of the game. You could always delete an old slot. Any add-ons (I assume you mean third-party add-ons) are optional. You do not need those to play the game. You have chosen to get them in order to make your gaming experience more efficient. No having any of these don't stop you from playing the game. They just restrict the way you can play it. Anet aren't completely stopping you from getting any of those without paying real money. Is it expensive in terms of time to buy using in-game gold? Arguably yes depending on the players. However, I don't think Anet is being unreasonable with this current process. If you remove this, then Anet will get even less income. The only reason players will have to pay real money after buying the games is for skins and..... get more gold in-game to buy whatever items they want from the TP. So while I can understand your displeasure at not realising that the slots were for one character only instead of account wide (I made that mistake too with a bag slot), I don't think that this justifies Anet changing their purchasing/account add-ons model. I think that if we are being honest, we would all want these to be free and instant from the start for selfish and lazy reasons. But the truth is, you can still get those for free albeit by spending time.

After two expansions, I still have my two lvl 80 boosts. But as it was previously said, depends on what you want to do. From the sounds of it, you are more interested in jumping into the lvl 80 content. So the boost will certainly get you there.

PvP has a number of issues ongoing at the moment. Botting and even hacking based on videos on youtube. I think that the mode has lacked some love from Anet which is such a shame as I think the GW2 PvP has such good potential. Getting rid of bots and hackers would make the mode so much better I think as more and more people will see it as worthwhile and play PvP. In turns, this would fix the matchmaking problems that we can have and stop heavily lop-sided matches. 47 to 500. That's not an even match..

Should Norn get an update?
Martnor.1746 replied to Einlanzer.1627's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
As much as I am not a fan of the male Norn, I think their current looks captures their nature/culture quite well. Mostly large and with muscles, tough people that are built to survive harsh cold environments but who also love to drink. So although the look is not for me, I think it fits. -
I think it is a great idea. I believe that unless you are really determined to play the game, you won't go searching for more information online. We want to capture the players that have just picked up the game and want to give it a go. Let's give those players a reason to stay long term. I watched a few streams of people trying out Guild Wars 2. A good number just seem confused and do not understand that the next story chapter will unlock at level 10. So a lot of them just wander around and a few lose interest. These players need more guidance on what they can do in the game. But I fully agree with all the points from the OP re break bars etc. These are important late game and too few understand what CC is. Starting these at an early stage builds a good foundation.

Skimmer underwater speed is so disappointing - [Merged]
Martnor.1746 replied to aaron.7850's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Here you go bringing physics into it. ;) Well, the OP mentioned "drag" first. I just expanded on it. I'm guessing you just mean looking down to dive? But then what about the people who just want to look at their character above water from a birds eye view? They would end up diving without wanting to. Having a button do it bypasses this issue and seriously.... just makes it easier for everybody. -
Skimmer underwater speed is so disappointing - [Merged]
Martnor.1746 replied to aaron.7850's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Well, are you travelling faster than if you were simply swimming? If yes, then I would say the skimmer does its job at making it "faster to travel through water" :) Regarding water resistance, skimmers may travel faster if we weren't on their backs. As we are not leaned flat against their bodies, we offer drag. Hence the lower speed. -
i want to see more. the teaser wasn't enough for me. it didn't tease me, it made me more curious. but yeah im pre-ordering it as soon as it's available It teased you into being curious about it! ;) I used to think this, but not anymore. MMOs are just done. People just aren't interested in them anymore, minus a hardcore niche. Not to mention, they're expensive to make and maintain. At the end of the day, MMOs even if they're of quality, no matter how you slice and dice it, they're just massive, never-ending time-sinks. There's also the fact that we have so many of them! WoW, ESO, FF14, BDO, Lineage, Blade & Soul. They're spreading the players thin. gw1 was interesting. To me, I consider it a hybrid of an MMO/dungeon crawler. It's not really a bonafide MMO a-la Everquest and WoW. IIt was also made in another era, back when MMOs were viable. But yeah...I don't think even gw1 devs can boost it, the MMO business is just too shady as a whole and their communities at the end of the day will just cave in and support that model because of the extraordinary amount of hours played, even if they protest otherwise. For me, they're just not my thing anymore. Yeah, Cantha will be nice for a bit, the scenery, the exploration...I might dabble in it for a couple of months but...meh...been there done that! My only other interest is wvw: what's going to happen to it? Depending on what's released, will there be a massive exodus, killing wvw for good? Or will there be new features to keep people playing? I think you're jumping to the extreme here. Are MMOs not as popular now as they used to be? Yes. I will agree. I think nowadays, more gamers are interested in games they can just pick up and put down at anytime without feeling like they have missed out on an event, DLC, or in our case, a living story episode. To say that "MMOs are just done" and that they are only entertaining to a "hardcore niche" is a very pessimistic view. Per MMO-population, the top 5 MMOs alone have over 8m active players. Granted, the criteria of the word "active" will greatly affect the result. The GW2 teaser for the third expac generated 318k views. Again, this does not mean that all those views were players. However, both of those give an idea of the number of people who are interested in MMOs. These numbers are not to be looked down on. They are good numbers. Will this decline in the future? Maybe. But as a genre/market, MMOs are still alive. You briefly go on saying that they're "massive, never-ending time-sinks". I am not sure where you were going with this but what makes that a bad thing? Million of players have spent a lot of time (hundreds, thousands of hours) into their respective games. Why is that wrong? MMOs are by design for entertainment. These millions of players have been entertained in some way or another. Some may look back saying: "I have wasted my life grinding away for an item". I'd say you choose for yourself what was worthwhile to you. I don't regret the time I have spent in my games. Admittedly, I had bad times but mostly good.

I can only see Ritualist as an elite specialization for necromancer, not as its own profession. I would see the ritualist as an elite spec for the Revenant rather than the necro. It seems more fitting to me. Necros are more about bringing the dead back to life whereas the revenants are about manipulating the spirits which sounds more like the ritualist of old from GW1 Ritualists and Necromancers both use Death magic, Revenants do not.Remember that Revenants, with the unfortunate exception of Renegade, do not summon actual dead people or their spirits, just the (apparently sentient) memories of the Mists.I disagree. In the description of the ritualist in the GW1 wiki and the Revenant description from the GW2 wiki, they both "channel their power from the Mists". Per the Revenant's description in the GW2: "Revenants can channel the Mists to invoke the powers of certain legendary figures of the past". Merely invoking memories would imply only getting access to knowledge i.e. the way to use magic or battle tactics. But the way they actually access the power of legendary figures suggests that they are tapping into the figures' power/spirit to some extent. So while they are not bringing the whole spirit into the living world, they are connected and using the spirits. Magic theory aside, in terms of appearance alone, both traditionally wear a blindfold. I do not think that this is merely coincidental and therefore believe that the revenant is the closest class we have to a ritualist in GW2.
