  1. It's not urgent... It's just that I get stressed with a cluttered inventory and overflowing bags and bank tabs, lol. I will hold out till mid-September.
  2. I'm hoping to spend a bunch of gems on upgrades like the Storage Expander. I was saving gems up for the 10th Anniversary sale...but there is no sale. Should I just go ahead and buy the upgrades now? Or do you think there will be a sale on upgrades soon?
  3. I'm a casual player who likes to play open world to farm, relax, and let the grind take over to decompress after work. The most "pressure" I would put myself in is Living World episodes, personal story, farming in HoT, etc...so not that much, I'm sure, in most of your eyes. I've been playing GW2 on and off over the years and recently found a "Low Intensity" builds section in Metabattle. It seems perfect for me. I heard Celestial gear is great for such builds, but noticed that not all of the LI builds listed use Celestial gear. I'd really like to craft one set of Ascended gear per armor class so that it's simple to swap based on my mood. I'm not sure if Legendary is the way to go at this point. The last time I played was probably around when Legendary armor started releasing and I was burned out from crafting Astralaria. I never considered Legendary armor before. My question is: Can I just craft Celestial Ascended everything? Or do some LI builds really do require Marauders, Trailblazers? In that case, should I just craft 6 sets? Marauders and Trailblazers for each armor class?
  4. IMO, it's not perfect for a casual steam audience. I think I'm one of those "casual" steam players. I played on and off since GW2 first came out, almost exclusively open world since I'm a filthy casual. The only dungeons, WvW, PvP I ever did was to craft a legendary weapon. While I do like that here's no vertical progression, I think getting the best gear is a massive grind with no real shorter-term goals. Usually this is where veterans chime in and tell me it only takes a day to gather materials for Ascended gear...but that's because they have good builds, are good at their class, and know where to farm. Plus, half the time I come back I find out the build I liked was nerfed...so I feel like I have to switch classes/builds which means I need new gear anyway. The learning curve for some of the classes is steep. I remember looking up some builds for the Elementalist and it had like a 130 step rotation, which is freaking ridiculous. But it seems like that's what the GW2 players love to do. Even if you pick a class that does not have a massive rotation, most of the skills are situational and you have to keep track of a bunch of boons and debuffs and quickly react with the appropriate skill. Sometimes it's a chore surviving in maps like HoT..and I won't even bother taking my Mesmer or Elementalist through that. I was actually about to buy EoD Ultimate because I saw the Mechanist and the simple playstyle really appealed to me. I probably won't because it seems like everyone and their mother is offended by the Mechanist and Anet would probably nerf it to oblivion soon.
  5. Man, I hope Mechanist doesn't get nerfed. I left a few months before EoD was released. I was looking for something to play and Mechanist in EoD caught my eye, somehow. It's interesting to me cause although I've always loved GW2, I'm a relatively low-skilled player. I got all my mounts in a month...so I'm willing to grind...but can't really do end-game content. I was about to buy EoD and decided to research the other elite specs so I came here and all I see is hate for the Mechanist.
  6. I spent the past couple weeks in Tyria and HoT crafting Astralaria. While I was there I found out I could farm Bladed armor to select exotics, LS3 maps for Ascended trinkets and Obsidian shards. I started looking at Exordium next and saw that I could craft that in PoF. I thought about playing in PoF and LS4, but wasn’t sure what I could get there that I can’t get in HoT. I’m familiar with HoT now, I know all the Meta events...and there seem to be more people doing the meta than in PoF. I already got griffon and skyscale out of PoF and the second to last mastery for all the ground mounts (maxed skyscale and griffon). I’m not sure what PoF even has over HoT, if anything. Is there any reason for me to play in PoF or does HoT give me everything I could possibly want?
  7. I tried this build : http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Firebrand_-_Solo_Firebrand They say it has a ton of defense and heals, but I die super easily. I have a mix of dire and trailblazer gear and do great damage. Right now I’m just mapping to get some BL keys for Shimmering cape. However, it doesn’t take me long to die if I get mobbed in the expansions. I’m sure it’s a L2P issue, but I’m not sure where to begin. Am I supposed to switch to the other 2 tomes if I’m taking too much damage? And what if I get mobbed while those tomes are on CD?
  8. Yes, boonbeast (something along the lines of this) is pretty good for open world/solo pve. Decent survivability thanks to prot, cleanses, stunbreak/stab, lots of cc to deal with break bars (or just to pull together a bunch of trash mobs to cleave them down all at once) and still pretty good burst. Can I stay in beastmode with this build? I heard Boonbeast should never camp beastmode or the same pet. You have to constantly weave F5 and pet swap while you play. It doesn't look like your build would benefit much from this, so it might be easier than I heard? Also, how is the sustain? I tried it real quick without changing any gear (mix of marauder and berserker) and the sustain didn't seem great
  9. Are there typically any sales for account upgrades around Christmas? I haven't seen any announced so far.
  10. Piggybacking here since I didn’t want to open a thread for the same topic. I just crafted Astralaria cause it’s so beautiful, but I don’t really have a class or build to play it with. I thought dual axe warrior, but thematically a Soulbeast seemed like a better fit. Souls, mystic, cosmic energy blah blah. I also like staying at range since it’s easier to solo open world things. I found a video of a WvW Boonbeast build with longbow and dual axes and Marauder armor. It seemed close to what I was looking for. I’d probably swap the bow for GS or something to fight mobs with reflect. Would a build like this be good?
  11. how many lower level characters would be recommended, and at what levels?
  12. How do I farm lower level mats such as Gossamer scraps or iron ore? I literally spent 4 hours just now mining iron as I completed maps. I got maybe 200 pieces of ore. I looked it up on google and I only see articles from 2012-2015. I think the stacks of green, blue, and yellow unid gear was something that was released in the 3-4 years I was away from the game. Should I just buy a couple character slots and park characters at level 30 and 60 and have them salvage those?
  13. I’ve been going on a tear unlocking masteries for Astralaria. It’s my first legendary, and 2nd gen too boot, plus I’m super casual.I’ve encountered a bunch of super annoying masteries. Lions Arch exterminator was supposedly easy, but it seemed impossible without a walkthrough. Especially finding one of the bugs in the dark maze in the jumping puzzle in the cave. So I can see the appeal of unlocking some mastery points with gems. The 2 hours spent jumping over a volcano is worth way more than $10 or whatever. However, instead of buying points outright I’d rather buy more maps with some easy mastery points. I did buy all of the Living world seasons and haven’t worked through all of the easy achievements yet...so I’m not sure how much more I’ll need just yet tho.
  14. I bought all of the living seasons and I’m working through those now. I’m skipping over the ascended and decided to go straight for Astralaria since it seems to guide me through a lot of stuff in Tyria and HoT I haven’t seen before. I never knew there were so many jumping puzzles and secret rooms all over the place. It really makes me appreciate the game more. WvW and T1 fractals are also more fun than I expected.
  15. hello, I'm also a returning player. I bought PoF about 3 weeks ago and I'm getting back into the game. I would love to start working my way through fractals from the ground up.
  16. I'm a semi-casual returning to the game. I have a lot of questions and I would like to participate in some low level fractals and WvW for Astralaria
  17. I’m a returning player after taking a break for many years. I decided to set Astralaria as my long-term goal. I mostly solo so I got a bit anxious when I saw the fractal requirements. Is it true that I can solo the T1 fractals and would that be enough to get the Astralaria collections?
  18. I love that this game basically lets me play solo for the majority of what I need. So I don't really notice whether there are other players or not. Unfortunately, it still makes me team up for certain things like bounties for specialization collections. That's when I realize this game does feel dead. NO ONE ever replies or expresses interest. When I watch map chat for people to call out bounties, no one ever does. I keep an eye on LFG for bounty groups, I never see one forming. The only chance I have is to hope for a Daily Bounty on the map I need. Half the game population seems to show up then. And yes, I am ranting. It's been a week since I tried to get a bounty for ONE specialization, let alone for all of my characters.
  19. I used mine right away on a character I barely play before I read the item description.
  20. Condi Mirage is great because you pretty much always have clones up to distract enemies, GREAT mobility, and the Mirage Cloak instead of dodge means you can "dodge" while casting skills or CC'd. You don't get the upfront burst but, if you're playing it right, you should still kill pretty quickly and be able to avoid most of the damage. What gear stat are you using? I was using Dire armor with Ascended Trailblazer Accessories/Earrings/Backpack + Rabid weapons. I didn't want to break the bank crafting Trailblazer armor before I gave the build a run, and I'm glad I didn't.
  21. I would love to get :Five 20-slot bagsFour Runes of Tormenting Edit: changing request from 6 runes to 2. I got 2 from a kind player who saw this post
  22. Unlock outfits, skins, maybe farm gold to fund all this. I literally just realized I don’t NEED to craft Pahua armor to get Trailblazers stats... /facepalm. I’ll just craft exotic Trailblazers exotic armor so I don’t even need to worry about ascended armor for now. I guess I’m mostly wondering what time-gated activities, crafting I should keep in mind, so I can do those on the side.
  23. I came back after a few years. I’ve been pretty on and off since launch. I literally just crafted my first Ascended piece this morning. That’s how casual I’ve been. I came back 2 weeks ago, and immediately got PoF. Since then, I unlocked all of the mounts including Skyscale, finally picked a main (condi Renegade), and started crafting my first ascended set. I also got my ascended weapon achievement. Since I’m time-gated in my ascended crafting, what else should I be doing with my time? I do my daily Winterberry farming with each profession, get a Charged Quartz, but these only take 30-40 minutes. What else should I be doing as a solo player?
