I don't hate your suggestions, but from that post of theirs it's clear they want everyone to deal with that pain of system both without free handouts (the free relic you get per character will only be a choice between 3 core relics, probably trash relics even) and without a legendary to go the easy way...it's clear they want to force everyone to engage.

Congratulations Anet....you gave a vague PR kitten answer that doesn't appease a kittening thing plus you've shown that you want this system to be a pain in the kitten for a kittening complete year. Regardless of compensation, the legendary relic should be craftable from day 1....bad kittening decision.

You would have no means of training it, so that changes nothing. Plus, as it was with EoD, you could have raptor, springer and glider by just owning EoD and not owning PoF and HoT at all, you just wouldn't be able to train the masteries. The new player will need to have PoF to train the PoF mastery, they won't need to unlock the mount again as they will already have it.

Why are people assuming that? You wont need to unlock it with the 2 methods in order to have benefits from both tracks. What you'll need to do is, after unlocking, actually training both tracks to get the benefits from both. Pretty much like them giving Raptor, Springer and Glider on EoD...you would unlock them, but you wouldn't get the masteries for them until you went back to PoF/HoT and trained them, in no way they'll force players to unlock the same thing twice.

Except not really, that artificial barrier is not there, not in the way you're trying to make it appear. If espec X is worse than espec Y and Z for a certain role, it just wont be used no matter the weapons....you wouldn't really bring a power tempest over a power weaver/cata....yet still it seems that the warhorn is good offhand for power, but that alone isn't enough to pick that espec over the others.

To be fair that's kinda the way it currently is.

Well, it's obvious that this needs some balancing done...I mean, it's not like they will let pass the fact people are parsing 50k on sword/wh weaver. Plus, not every build in a class can be locked into the same weapons.

I was also thinking about the economy aspect, unless the new system makes obtaining those juicy items just as easy as daily login rewards, the prices will eventually skyrocket...specially mystic coins.

Still, I don't really enjoy that idea of replacement. There are days I don't really feel like playing but it's nice to just log in, grab the reward and log out. Turning that into needing to complete daily activities to get those rewards just adds yet another rather mandatory daily thing to do and completely removes passive profit in days I don't feel like touching the game. I'm fine with addition and extra ways to obtain that stuff with more active playing...but replacing? meh...

I think you can read that announce in 2 different ways: 1st way (and the one I want to believe in) is that they meant to say they took inspiration in the best aspects of daily login and daily activities in order to create this system 2nd way (and the one I hope it's not true) is that they mean to replace the current daily logins with this new system, this being supported by the fact that the feature will come to everyone with just some of the stuff being locked the SOTO owners.

Although I do agree the more choices the better, the min/max mindset wont go away. There will be a better option out of them all, there always is.
