  1. i'm having this problem, but nothing in my install has changed barring normal updates. i've always had the 32-bit components also installed. using vulkan radeon mesa drivers. launcher crashes my whole system.
  2. hey all! it's been a bit since i've played, and i'm back for the new expansion. i used to use GW2 Radial, but it doesn't seem to be working for me anymore. something probably changed while i was away. anyone know how to get it running again? thanks!
  3. @ArmoredVehicle.2849 glad you picked up a 5500XT! just FYI but reporting in with excellent performance on my navi 5700 w/ XT BIOS. mesa 20.0.4, Kernal 5.5.13, DXVK 1.5.5, and ACO shader compiler.similar for my wife, who's on a polaris RX 590. thanks for all you do!
  4. if the issue is LLVM, try switching to ACO. it's not enabled by default. for that i think you need mesa 19.3, or any special mesa-aco branch
  5. any word from @liberodark / 04D95143-7F7C-4289-8567-88D4F26CEEF9.2615? or are they gone? i've been waiting for their installer to update. i went ahead and just did a write into with overwrite, which should be enough i think.
  6. sure, if you think this is better. i'm on Arch, so no issue here. faudio is in the community repo.
  7. for now i only want to use GW2Radial. thanks for this! also, how should i best go about updating without having to reinstall everything?
  8. has anyone gotten the GW2 mount Radial overlay working with this? i've not been able to get any response from it. https://github.com/Friendly0Fire/GW2Radial thanks!
  9. the game is very old and very CPU bound. drops among large groups of players are common. try setting your Character Model settings to no higher than medium. turn Reflections to Off or Terrain/Sky. Shadows to Medium can also help. beyond that, it could be GW2 in relation to your new GPU. some bugs have been noted by others with this combo. they'll most likely get worked out over time. you can try using d9vk to help with that.
  10. try d9vk. i've heard good reports from other 5700 users, and it works great for me on Linux. runs better than on windows.
  11. thanks for the replies! ok, then i'm looking at an RX 5700. i think that should be able to handle it comfortably, yes? or do you think the XT is necessary? note i'll be playing with D9VK, so translating dx9 to vulkan. that should avoid the low FPS some ppl are seeing with default GW2 and Navi.
  12. what's a recommended AMD GPU for running the game comfortably at 4k? 5700XT, 5700, Vega, 590? do i really need to buy the best of the best, or is there a lower model that will do the job happily while hitting the CPU wall? thanks!
  13. just wanted to report on mesa with ACO: i started using the mesa-aco-git from the AUR, and i've found my GW2 experience to be significantly smoother. shader rendering interruptions are almost nonexistent now, and when they do happen it's a very minor disruption. i don't usually install stuff that's still in testing and devel, but it was worth it for this.
  14. note that since applying the maximum open file limit fix from the first post i've been able to start the launcher multiple times without issue. could be coincidence, but previously it would have hung up by now, at least once a day. so maybe try that, @jinxlaw.9467 . couldn't hurt!
  15. Virtual Desktop is a setting you can choose in winecfg. thanks for letting me know your RAM. i'm just trying to rule out any discrepancies. for the time being i've applied the maximum open file limit fix from the first post just in case. let's see how it does.
  16. good to know! @jinxlaw.9467 how much RAM do you have? and do you know if there's any difference if you disable KWIN before you run the launcher?
  17. I'm experiencing the same issue on one of my machines. Endeavour OSKernel 5.2.3-arch1-1-ARCHKDE Plasma 5.16.3i5-4690kAMD RX 5708 GB RAM If I can somehow manage to kill the launcher, I can regain control of my machine. Otherwise, I need to hard reboot. It doesn't freeze up all the time, but maybe every third time or so. I'm NOT experiencing the issue at all on my other machine. AntefreeKernel 5.2.3-arch1-1-ARCHKDE Plasma 5.16.3R5 1600XAMD Vega 5616 GB RAM it works perfectly on this machine with no issues.
  18. thanks for everyone's work on this! GW2 now works better than ever for me on Linux! quick question: so when the custom Wine or D9VK gets updated, how do I update my install correctly? thanks!
