  1. This is the build I run and I have a blast using it. I know its not meta or super optimized but I don't really care about that. I mostly play sPvP and it gets the job done at least for me. Anyway feel free to try it if you like. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PegAoqlZw+YhsLWJWcPvrbA-zZRsM6tAiPB8ZA
  2. sPvP and WvW are def 2 different things. The incentives in playing sPvP is really more person to person esp if you don't want the legendaires from PvP. However, I will list the reasons why I play sPvP and you can agree or disagree with them as you please. 1. WvW is still mostly PvE ie. Flipping Camps, Killing Yaks, Flipping Guards. 2. Forcing a 1v1 or 1v2 in WvW is like finding gold on the street. Most people will just run away as they are trying to get to there zerg. 3. Even if your roaming sPvP is the place to be for fights. You can get in 10x more practice on a build in PvP than WvW. 4. Gear in sPvP is not an issue. Lets be completely honest. Most montages are against people in lackluster gear. 5. sPvP is a great place to build, learn builds, and fight against popular builds. 6. Time. If I have a choice of spending 1 hour in WvW and maybe get 4 decent 1v1's or a fun exchange while trying to hold a camp vs spending an hour in sPvP and get more than 15 exchanges. I'll take the sPvP every time. Honestly I treat sPvP like a old school Halo match. WvW for me at least is just PvE with the occasional duel. Also in terms of skill. Doesn't matter if it's WvW or sPvP. You'll have the same person that just copy/paste builds in videos and has never read a single skill or trait on their class. They just spam buttons and then complain that there class is horrible in some way. In either case my friend you do you. I would say play sPvP until you unlock Ranked and then maybe try Ranked for a bit to see where you stand. At the end of the day tho. It's a game and games are supposed to be fun. So do what ever you have fun with instead of trying to force your self to do something you don't like.
  3. I'd be down for a starting at zero.Tho I don't think it'll matter. The sPvP scene is so toxic it's better just to turn off the chat window.I think my favorite part of sPvP is that the term Bot is just used as an insult to say your bad.But I think no matter what Anet did to the ranking system that fact remains that they decided the win screen shows the winning team dancing on your corpse. So apparently Anet them selves want the toxic behavior and general bad sportsmanship.
  4. I can't speak for others, I can only speak for my self. As some on who mostly solo roams in WvW I understand how to stomp, res, and peel.I also don't go into 1v4's or 1v3's if I know I can just wait for rez's or go to home/far instead for a 1v1 or a free node all together. But trying to Peel, Res, or Stomp vs a Full Stack team using coms and focus target. Yep totally easy to do before you get 1 shotted. As for the doubting that people don't insult others. Every single match where you lose the first team fight you either get a all caps screamer, or a auto log off. So yea unranked def a fun play to be and totally a great place to learn.
  5. Well I'm very thankful that the responses to this thread haven't been toxic. As for my PvP level I'm level 37 but again I took 4 years off from the game.I have taken the advice of just flipping my chat to just combat text. It has def been more enjoyable since I can at least focus on my gameplay and not have worry about getting tilted by the /lol, DM's, or the Venom.I'm still facing 3 stacked teams or more over and over again. So I don't how much you can learn from just not engaging in fights and decapping. Also, kind of wish the match maker would match these stacked team to other stacked teams.I honestly don't know which manager at the top of Anet that wants ques to be under 3 min's but again I'm pretty most if not all players would rather wait longer to have a decent match.
  6. Yea, I guess the only option is to just turn off chat. Which is sad cause I mean it should be used to call out numbers heading to "x" node. Instead it seems to only be used to insult a players. And I totally agree I'd rather wait 10 to 15 minutes for a match that is even so I could learn. Than get matched up in 2 minutes only to be farmed over and over again. I mean its honestly not fun to be on either team that just 500 to 100. And I'd happily wait the 10 to 15 minutes cause I could just farm materials or do map completion at the same time.
  7. Yea, sadly I think the only option for newer players is to disable chat to avoid the All Cap screaming fest. The worst part is when they whisper you after the match. Like seriously what is with this PvP community.
  8. So I just came back from a 4 year break. Decided to jump into PvP and I have to say it has been very unenjoyable. From what I can tell the pvp community wants more people to play this mode. However, anyone new to the mode gets slammed with insults during every single game from both sides of the match. I don't know about you but insulting people isn't exactly how you get people to play the mode you desperately say you want more people to play. In the last week I feel like I've been insulted less in LoL than in a GW2 PVP match. Then there's the match making. If you go into unranked you are met with fully stacked teams that just 1 shot you over and over again. If you go into ranked it seems better in terms of matching players (I'm silver btw). But even there you are met with such venom it's honestly not enjoyable. Don't get me wrong. I've watched build video's and practice combos on golems. I've seen video's on how to rotate and what each role does and how do it. However, just cause you watch a video doesn't make you awesome at the task. That takes time and practice. But then every time you try to practice you are met with just insults and BM. So I'm curious how exactly are newer players suppose to get into pvp, when again the only thing waiting for the newer players is pure venom?
