  1. I get aura migraines too but they aren't triggered by black on white text. This seems like a useful option but in the meantime plenty of browsers do have night time plugins or built in options to do the same. Are you on pc or mobile? I think it's just the overwhelming whiteness of the forum around the text, I get flashing vision if I look away from it after reading a topic. Regardless, you inspired me to take matters into my own hands, I had never thought of adding a browser plugin to solve this, but I downloaded one which has done exactly what I wanted. So thank you very much! :+1: Glad I could help. Auras suck, they're worse than the headache itself.

  3. I was responding to the specific claim that a party of 5 Scourge wouldn't be lacking anything substantial and therefore an ideal strategy would be for an entire server to bring only Scourges to a fight, leaving no room for any other spec.
  4. A 5 Scourge party has limited mobility, limited access to boons and even less ability to share them, vulnerability to CC, limited ability to engage beyond 900 range and none past 1200, and no active damage mitigation other than barrier. They also rely heavily on the generation of Life Force to be effective. In other words, all the classic weaknesses of Necro but without Life Shroud. I fully believe that Scourge can do too much with too few skills, but you're focusing on what they're good at and overlooking what they're not good at. Like you said, they do have counters and part of the solution to the Scourge problem is the use of those counters. My concern is that Anet announced Scourge nerfs and some people seem to have taken that as a cue to continue blobbing into the Shades because the balance patch will make that viable.
  5. Scourges are defining the current meta because they directly counter the previous meta. People are going to bring an AoE boon hate spec to counter a boon sharing death ball strategy. It couldn't have turned out any other way so long as Scourge was capable of fulfilling its intended role. That's not to say Scourge doesn't need some balancing; it at least needs the Shade stacking bug fixed and an increased ramp up time but it's not so simple as doing a headcount and whacking the popular class with the nerfbat.
  6. I'm running a 4790k at 4.8 GHz and a pair of overclocked GTX 970s in SLI. Our systems are fairly close in performance, and most of my settings are as high as they go. You are running at 4K compared to my 1080p, but I'm using supersampling which doesn't reduce my framerate at all. Try setting shadows to none, and character model limit and quality to lowest. You should see a dramatic rise in your framerate, and then you can start raising your other settings again until the framerate starts dropping. That's what your GPU is actually capable of. The settings I mentioned are the ones mostly affected by your CPU. You will have to lower those settings if you want better performance (character model quality imo has the best result with the least reduction in graphics quality) but most of the others can probably be raised from where they are now. As to the optimization and performance team, I'm sure they're working diligently and making a good bit of progress. But the artists and programmers responsible for improving the graphics are working too, and over the long run these improvements require better hardware. The average player is using much better hardware today than five years ago, so of course Anet is going to take advantage of that.
  7. There are more players in the world right now and some of the new areas have a lot of shadows. These are both taxing on the cpu. You can try lowering the shadow and/or character model options to see if it helps.
