Vindicator Build Brainstorming (All Gamemodes)
hainese.9216 replied to Za Shaloc.3908's topic in Revenant
I really like using Shiro with these stas, but have been running a more condi focused build with Malyx lately same runes and stats as before. The kit gives two easy forms of fire aura through Malyx leap and Luxon Leap through mace fire field. High burn uptime and passive healing through resistance and Regen. Fireworks + Vigor trait makes dodge refill very quickly - this also carries permanent 25 might which is very important for cele stats - really good chill uptime and tons of other boons http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PmyAkeZlhQmsI6kJRpMIClBSqMBqkDzUbsF-zRRYVR3HvcQDnSCKgMFB9KECXCo4Zh3pN-e Vallun posted a cele video today -- with a similar build that took GS over staff, I personally like staff because it has more CC and cleanse and I feel really squishy without it. Malyx and staff are petty good together because you want the CC for torment stacks and staff 5 rips through stability. It's mostly a kiting tool while you watch condis tick. GS gives you chill and block, but the power aspects of it aren't as useful imo. I think Vindicator is great in small-scale, especially with cele because you can use Kurzick skills to assist allies + heal and then switch over to boon ripping targets and locking them down with CC. Large scale is always more optimally power stats, but I've also really enjoyed fireworks for that -- maybe less optimal than scholar, but damage still slaps http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PmiAIFldQmMH6k1QpsHCl9RqsAqkJ7lVsD-zRZYBhLoKCGxoC5fKNJEyUEUrCoCJginGBMDA-e -
I randomly got this as a drop somewhere before dragon's end. I am pretty sure it was in Echovald, else New Kaineng. There are speakers Echovald for sure...

Vindicator Build Brainstorming (All Gamemodes)
hainese.9216 replied to Za Shaloc.3908's topic in Revenant
I've been playing around with this (mostly) celestial hybrid build in general PvE and in WvW roaming. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PmyAkeZlZSMsTyjlSdMUijpSksSigjqUVsF-zVRYVRHTOC2nSCSgMFC9KC6QBo4Zh3pN-w It makes use of the boon uptime to maintain close to permanent 25 might, Vigor, Fury, Regeneration, and Protection - very high swiftness uptime, access to fire aura through mace 2 into Luxon alliance leap, and a defensive set with staff & Kurzick Alliance. I think that changing invocation to Top, Middle, Top might be more optimal to bring swiftness into the mix, but the mobility/evades from Shiro I thought would make up for it and the extra vigor and small might is good. Taking Malyx over Shiro is also an option -- but Shiro pumps some might, quickness, evade, shadowstep, movement speed, strong CC to tick condis, and regain of endurance in one legend.. so it fits quite well - I've switched between them and haven't found a huge difference in terms of DPS -
Yes! The idea was to make use of the herald trait that buffs regeneration to synergize with the regeneration on torment proc of the new 6th Tormenting Rune Bonus... I haven't tested it, but I would imagine it gives a pretty strong heal tick per second. Def not as imba as before, but analogous As an aside, Tormenting Rune might still be viable on Condi Mirage because of the regeneration synergy

I'm not sure if you are trying to optimize for certain content - but this would work for general PvE and most OW content, while keeping your tormenting runes. You can also spec Retribution and go top, bottom, bottom for more sustain. Can also be run on full Celestial, if that's your sort of thing. Vipers/Trailblazer (might be closer to your present gear setup) http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PmABkex7lpQIMLKidRSMMCiJSgsCSgjqkWrF-zRRYkRP2MCelSmRavhVHJQIFg3HAx5xgHNg4TD-e Full Celestial (regen will hit harder) http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PmABkex7lpQIMLKidRSMMCiJSgsCSgjqkWrF-zRRYVRPvZEMlSmRavhVHJQIFg3HAx5xgHNg4TD-e

Would I like more CC on vindi, sure especially on the greatsword - I always like more CC options, does Vindi need [more] CC in it's kit? not exactly.. especially because there is so much loaded in alliance stance already (regen, resistance, cleanse, fury, quickness, stability, protection, might, leap, burning, torment, evade, and a stun) Vindi gains access to CC through Alliance Stance --- Reaver's Rage - Alliance Stance - Kurzick Side - Skill 4 is a Stun (CC) You can make up for lack of CC by bringing staff, or by supplementing Alliance Stance with another stance with CC on it.. which is all of them. If the criticism is that a dps weapon loadout doesn't have CC, Sword/Sword already lacks that too.

I have a hybrid cele build set up with mace/axe & staff.... had no problem getting through it. Mace 2 into Vindicator Leap... there's a combo... Axe 5, Staff 5 - you could even quickly spec Jallis for the pull (which is pretty standard rev breakbar stuff) and you're good on breakbar. TL;DR Rev's have a bunch of combo fields and breakbar options that can be slotted alongside Vindicator, y'all tripping.. now the dodge challenge, that was tough

Revenant - Devastation Traitline - Brutality Bug
hainese.9216 replied to hainese.9216's topic in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website
I suppose we finally found our answer in the patch notes. Feels kind of bad? -
I can imagine that maybe this was targeted at condi renegade for PvE, but it has some dire consequences for most hybrid PvP and WvW builds - which rely upon swap sigils on legend swap for burst damage and cover conditions on the offensive set (Shiro/Glint Celestial -- Mace/Axe, Sword/Shield or Staff -- eg shiro port, legend swap) It might have also been an effect to balance energy sigils and bring them in line with mirage builds -- so that you had to commit to 2 energy sigils (one on each weapon set), rather than allowing legend swapping to double proc defenisve and offensive sigils (legend swap on energy/cleanse, weapon swap for other two sigils) It's really sad to see them go, because it is part of what made revenant so fluid.....

Revenant - Devastation Traitline - Brutality Bug
hainese.9216 replied to hainese.9216's topic in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website
It is confusing to me, as stated in OP, because of the inconsistent interaction between legend swapping (or other profession mechanics), this trait (and other traits like it), and weapon swapping sigils Jokes aside about utility loadout bugs.. kind of feels like you are trolling Example: Sigil of Geomancy/Cleansing/Energy/etc. Procs on Rev's Legend Swap, procs on weapon swap Sigil tooltip says: "Inflict bleeding on nearby foes for 8 seconds when you swap to this weapon while in combat. (9s ICD)" This kind of proc happens also (without mention on tooltip) with Nec Death Shroud, Ele Attunement Swap, Celestial Avatar, etc. Kind of makes sense because of skill transform and also to balance the proc for classes who can't weapon swap Brutality tooltip says "Gain quickness when you swap weapons. While you have quickness, your strikes remove stability." Are we to recognize legend swapping as a kind of weapon swap or not? Is it a balance issue for the trait? Weapon swap sigil procs really flow well with Rev rotations it would be great for brutality to function with it too. - it felt bugged to me, but maybe I'm missing something. Ranger has strange oddities too with celestial avatar interfacing with quick draw but not Tail Wind or Furious grip.. all of them mention weapon swap. -
I have been noticing that when taking Brutality the quickness uptime will proc when I swap weapons in combat but not when I swap my legend in combat without swapping my weapon. I remember the trait providing quickness on legend swap before, I'm not sure if it's bugged or intended to function this way. If it is functioning as intended, the tooltip is confusing as other weapon swap procs, such as through sigils, function with both weapon and legend swapping on Revenant (and other profession mechanics on other professions).

Saintgaroo or Bunny Saint build is Support Meta in WvW
hainese.9216 replied to Knighthonor.4061's topic in Revenant
Perhaps we want different things out of the game, which I can respect. I don't have the time nor the energy to point out all of the things that I don't agree with in what you are saying TL;DR - Guild Wars 2, by design wants to give options and do away with a holy trinity.. holy trinity is strong and the community creates selective roles and responsibilities out of efficiency for content Game can be played with options in mind and a lot of things are pretty balanced (besides some PoF Bloat) and there are devs actively communicating with the community about decision making (which has not historically been the case) Is Scourge a "dedicated support" because of blood magic and barrier, what about the corrupts and DPS options for the spec? Is a Core revenant a "dedicated support" because it has Ventari and Salvation as options? What about Corruption or Devastation? Is Mirage only a Condi DPS build? It might be the most efficient, but that's not to say that mirage isn't used in other ways in different content... Herald has just as many traits in the line for personal selfish DPS as it does for traits effecting allies.. it's not "supposed" to be a support.. some people just say that it is. Alacrity of Renegade is desired more than the offensive boons + protection uptime of herald. This is how you get renegade support over herald as meta Scrapper can go support because of med kit and elixir gun, it can also go Power DPS because of traits and offensive gyros, I'm sure someone can make a condi build of it too.... That's the beauty of the game...Super fun, rich mechanics, hard to balance 100% and make everyone happy -

I feel like you're trolling -- but it's a bit of a false equivalency that people keep in the echo chamber Boon pulse to allies + healing, cleanse, & protection on optional offhand does not equal "official support" all those boons also apply to you.... It's hybrid, you can go full berserker or celestial, Herald/Shiro and still maintain 25 might, fury, swiftness on yourself easily with traits for quickness and skills for gap closers... (Meta power dps/roamer for PvP and WvW) Or you can go Minstrels/Magi/Harrier, Herald/Ventari and pulse out Regen and protection.... (Non meta in pretty much every content -
I see a lot of $h**posting on these forums saying that the elite spec needs to be scrapped or that people are deleting their revenants because of the new E-Spec for this or that reason... I want to remind everyone that this is a beta and things are in progress. Constructive feedback will help the game get better. Antagonism is the antithesis of productive conversation. I'm sure we all love this game and would like to see it get better, so I wanted to put that out there.... Context: I main rev in GW2 and played a lot of Ritualist, Monk, and Assassin in GW1 - I play a lot of WvW and PvP, and do some fractals and dungeons and general PvE but am much more engaged in the PvP side of things. Things I really Love: 1) Doge - The dodge mechanic threw me off quite a bit, but once I got used to it I really am enjoying how I can engage or disengage with it - It allows for a long set of evade frames when I really need it while also adding pressure. It could use some tweaks with aftercast - and there are some circumstances where I am mid dodge and get stunned or immobilized and that doesn't feel great - but, with some tuning I expect this will be a really fulfilling mechanic to master. 2) Greatsword - I thought I would hate it, but it is so fulfilling to use... Skills need tweaking, but I don't understand what people are saying about it being low damage, this thing slaps... 3) Traitline - There are a few traits that feel very good and synergetic with different playstyles. For example If I'm Going Ventari + Alliance Stance I can go 1/3/3, or if I'm roaming with Shiro/Alliance I can go 2/3/2 -- there is a bit more work to tune them in terms of their function, but it is a great start Things I think could be Improved: 1) Traitline - the Major Adept traits could become less tethered to the Alliance stance, I have been playing with Shiro/Alliance and Shiro/Jallis. When I am in the latter, I can only choose Redemptor's Sermon which is a great panic button, but I would like some more options when it comes to buildcraft with other legends. The major masters could be more varied - right now they're all relating to endurance or vigor. It would be great to see a damage multiplier on one in the same way we see increased effectiveness with vigor on the other (maybe too many damage multipliers on Rev already...the town isn't big enough) 2) Alliance Tactics/Energy Meld: The flip is super fun, and Leviathan Strength synergizes with that mechanic very well, giving a lot of options for playing with Alliance stance. Similar to Point #1 Energy meld feels underwhelming. If there was an interaction between the F2 and whatever stance you were in (boon, spell, or additional effect similar to true nature or facet of nature) that was powered up by Leviathan Strength this would effectivel address #1 & #2 in my mind 3) I would love to see a block or reflect on Alliance Stance in the Kurzick Side, especially when I run Sword/Sword + Greatsword... I really love the damage output and combat of that set... but I'm sometimes missing staff or shield 4) I would love to see a CC option on Greatsword , maybe it ties into the block or maybe on alliance stance - but it would be good for break-bar coverage and activating Contained Temper

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PmiAIZldQMMHyj1QdsHij9RksAigl+U3SD-zRRYBRFTM4TJThQpKgalA9KCU80QhzIA-e With hammer, you might want to capitalize on the fact that it can spike hard with a lot of might generation, having the fury/might synergy through invocation along with fireworks runes and a quickness source can help patch up hammers shortcomings... Not having sword/sword will mean you don't have a lot of sustained damage.. but legend swapping with sigil of battle will help with that might upkeep and as shao pointed out you can spend more energy on utility skills when hammer spike is on CD
