  1. So I finally decided to update the game for christmas, got the xpacs, and have generally been having a blast playing with my fiance. However, as a handicapped player, I've been trying to find really easy builds to play that will still let me enjoy the game without pain to my hands. I've more or less settled on three of them but could really use some advice from more experienced players. They will likely be obvious to most people since it doesn't take long to hunt them down when searching for answers but getting some feedback would be nice to compare them. I've messed with a bunch of LI builds over the years, never gotten very far though, since when I do sit down to play even those can be tough on me sometimes...yikes. Anyway, did you guess Mechanist and Reaper? Amazing 🙂 The other possibility I was playing with was a flamethrower scrapper but heck if I know how that will turn out. Mostly I'm just trying to find out which is easier to play compared to each other, as well as which you think would still be capable of soloing champs and the like. I already have the mechanist (only 3 maps away from getting my first 100% core exploration) and obviously it's pretty easy. Celestial setup, condi, alacrity support, and basically just let the pet tank and do its thing. Feels a lot like a traditional pet class from any other mmo and it's been a breeze ~99% of the time other than sometimes chasing it around and staying in its hug zone to keep buffs active. If the enemies decide to ignore my pet I do sometimes run into trouble but the constant barrier spam helps a lot. I will say that as much as I enjoy the skills on the mace I tend to find pistol better since melee seems a lot harder for me than range. That is likely just me having a hard time with my hands though and it's something I am working on. Reaper I don't have yet, necro is only 78 and then I have to camp wvw for a while to save up hero point tokens, so I have no idea how this one feels at all and need the advice of other players to compare it to engi. I planned on doing a marauder and zerk+valk accessory setup for it, and was going to replace the usual soul reaping traitline with blood to get more tanky and barrier generation. But I have no idea how this would compare to the mechanist for ease of play or at soloing at all. Both the mechanist and reaper are signet based to keep buttons down to a minimum. And then there's the scrapper. I see it mentioned a lot so figured I would at least say it's in the running so people can maybe tell me if I should be staying far away from this build or not 😛 I do like the idea of getting an outfit as close to a space marine as I can and camping the flamethrower like a heavy flamer... might not be a very good build though. Anyway, sorry for rather long post and thank you in advance for the help. It's fun to be back. Also, since it may be relevent somehow, I have done basically nothing in any zones outside of core so far. I am attempting to clear every map as I go and see the story in order and I do know it gets harder once I get to the HoT stuff.
  2. Thanks again for all the suggestions. I'm currently playing the necro as most of you recommended (although I was enjoying the mesmer...kinda...it was awkward to play. Might have been better once I hit mirage but trying to get there just wasn't working for me). For tankiness on a core (for now) minion necro, would you recommend condi or power? I do plan to go reaper eventually I think? I'm trying to either get marauder or trailblazer sets, starting with dire or...something...for power. Not sure what. There is no power/prec/vit set I don't think? Definitely going to be doing blood/death. likely curses if condi or spite for power.
  3. Thanks for all the replies, they've been interesting to read and I've been doing more looking around in the mean time. So far Staff Mirage seems good, as well as bear bow and apparently shortbow renegade? The responses on the video seem to say that the renegade took some nerfs and the build may not really function anymore but I wouldn't know first hand. I definitely agree with people saying ranged is easier, and condi seems to be easier to play from my limited experiments so far (exception being ranger, they're really easy for killing champs but I got swarmed under pretty bad with too many enemies). I guess for necro I would need to stay ranged rather than do GS Reaper but it's not like I've been able to mess around with it, I have nobody high enough to even be reaper yet. Seriously, thank you all for the advice. I'm currently playing just a little bit with a staff mesmer, just to see if I like it, while reading all these. It's a lot to take in :bleep_bloop:
  4. Without getting into too much detail, the tldr is I have hand issues and reaction time issues. The easier a class is to play the better off I'll be, otherwise there's a fair chance I won't even be able to play it to begin with. This is basically my first time back in almost two years so figured I would ask before diving in head first since the classes have likely changed a bit since I last played. Obviously this means I avoid PvP and high end content so you don't really need to take any of that into account. I suppose if I had an understanding guild I might try some of it eventually but it's really not a concern for me. I've been hunting around for ideas, the big ones that seem to get repeated a lot are minion necro (scourge and reaper have both been recommended), a bearbow ranger, and a staff mirage? I was under the impression mesmer was pretty hard to play and required a lot of movement but it does seem to get recommended a lot so figured I would ask about it. Any help is appreciated. I've been missing MMO's a lot lately and after having tried a few others, this seems to be the one that was recommended again for being easier to play. Far less skill/button bloat than most other MMO's for certain.
  5. This is actually a question I've been going a little nuts with as well. I have bad hands so I have to find a class to play that basically makes up for the handicap. Signet Ranger and MM Reaper/Scourge both seem to meet the qualifications since they are simple and require fairly few buttons but I've always had a really hard time picking between them. I can't play for extended periods so it takes me forever to level but I still want to be able to do as much content as possible, you know? I virtually always solo because I know I would slow a group down so figuring out the best solo character for me is fairly important. Fortunately I have a guild that will play with me even if I'm slow but I still have no idea which class to focus on =/
  6. [REQUEST FULFILLED]I honestly didn't think I would ever use this post, but here I go. Lost my job and home ~a year ago and haven't been able to find a job since. Not 100% sure if this works but I would like to request Living World 3. I'm missing LW2 as well and would generally have preferred to play in chronological order but from what I've seen LW3 has a lot of important farming maps so that seems a bit more important, yes? I can worry about story continuity later :P I hit 80 for the first time yesterday, this game is about all that's keeping me sane sometimes thanks to the fact it has no sub fee. Anyway, thank you if you can help, assuming LW is even something that can even be gifted? Since the front page says to mention it, LW3 is 640 gems (see edit). [edit for partial fulfillment] Since they responded in the thread it shouldn't matter, would like to thank Neph.2163 for LW2. Almost in tears typing this, I have no words, seriously. I can't even think of anything else to say that wouldn't just sound like I was gushing at you, so just thank you. So much. [edit for gold suggestion from alaskasnowgirl.6047] Since LW3 may not be giftable, it was suggested I slightly alter the request if needed. 640 gems is currently ~167g. [edit] I was given the gold for LW3, so that finishes up my requests. Same person as well. I really, really can't thank them enough, them or this forum for having a thread like this. I look even more forward to spending ungodly amounts of time in-game. Thank you again so much <3[REQUEST FULFILLED]
