  1. Shoutouts to everyone who came by the Festival of Dwayna - ZephyrFest! And huge shout out to our winners of the Light of Dwayna, Wings of Dwayna, and Sunrise giveaways! (And our smaller, impromptu giveaways afterwards!) That was over 3k gold worth of prizes. 😄 We raised $102 for Extra Life, $120 for NMDP / BeTheMatch, and (to give away to newbie players sometime tomorrow)... 27x 18 Slot Silk Bags 2x 15 Slot Darkstel Boxes 4x 15 Slot Linen Bags I'll be streaming giving these away when I do. 🙂 Thanks everyone for coming to the stream & event, and for anyone who donated anything! 💙 Doing Dwayna's work.

  4. Thanks for linking this! I do know some people do macros just to emote little meme during things like WvW among friends. But I wasn't sure how okay this was to actually do. I figure also if the macros also aren't calling out certain stuff related to gameplay (like someone having quick ways to say "3 home" "2 mid" or things like that) - it would probably be fine too.
  5. Another suggestion I have - generally for RPvE, I've left the longer descriptions for down time during PvE content. When I'm doing the actual PvE portion, I utilize more of /say and quick talk - but for emotes, I allow the medium to do the talking. As in - actual combat, I usually end up making that something that happens in character instead. Use the medium to your advantage, and practice!
  6. So while we do know that things like WARP will auto-post things like adding people to your party/joining a party, I don't know about this sort of thing. There's likely macros people set up to work with this. However - this might also get into the territory of where macros are banned. Generally - you don't want to be able to try and press buttons faster than humanly possible. And sadly - if it's typing it for you - that counts. Think of it this way - this DOES sadly give you an unfair advantage - especially as there are people who do content in the game without voice chat. So them using a machine to type for them kind of gives them an unfair advantage against others who are typing normally. Because you are, technically, doing PvE content - and not say, just playing an instrument while standing.. This could be risky territory. Do this sort of thing with caution. You could use maybe some other tools that transfer voice to text - but again this goes into risky territory of using something outside of the game to do inputs for you. (And understandably, people use it for accessibility so it's kind of a gray area.) Plus, keep in mind - anytime you're typing, your normal inputs will also go into the chatbox. So if you press the number buttons to do skills - that's gonna all go into a chatbox too. (The best way to do this otherwise is maybe typing with one hand and skill clicking with a mouse, but even then - that'll make it hard to even rotate the camera or move sometimes. There's always gonna be a struggle with input.) What I would recommend instead - maybe utilize your machine's clipboard tool, or copy and paste. Either that, or you may need to learn just to..type fast or figure out ways to multitask your rotation while typing. A lot of people have to do content this way or we manage to type while RPing. (Which isn't viable for everyone, obviously. It's hard to have reaction times, or type while doing stuff, etc. So this isn't very accessible, admittedly) From my personal experience though - as someone who has RPed metas since 2012 - you kind of get used to it and find a way to make it work.
  7. Quick reminder that we are less than 2 weeks away (12 days, actually) from this event! Check out the giveaways page (or the post above) to figure out how to win materials for the Light of Dwayna backpiece, the actual Wings of Dwayna longbow, and the actual Legendary Greatsword Sunrise.

This festival, modeled after the festivities for the Gods in Elona, celebrates the Goddess of Life & Healing in the best way we know how - on behalf of charity. Hello everyone - I wanted to host a small RP event that's similar to the Festival of Lyss in Guild Wars 1. Zephyr is also related to Dwayna, so I figured it'd be fun to run an RP charity event. But it felt weird to have it just be a roleplaying event - so I wanted to also use it as an opportunity to raise awareness for two, real life causes! Extra Life: An event where individuals and teams (including ArenaNet) all around the world stream games for 24 hours to raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals BeTheMatch / NMDP: An organization trying to save peoples' lives through donations of bone marrow and blood stem cells This event will also be streamed on my Twitch channel to help raise awareness but the chat box will be hidden. Activities We'll be hosting a variety of RP activities for folks to participate in - whether it's grabbing some free food, gathering donations, participating in carnival games or petting zoos, etc. So join us for some social fun. If you'd like to volunteer to host something or help out, get in touch with me in game ! Giveaways We also have 3 different giveaways people can participate in if they donate. Materials for helping make a Light of Dwayna backpiece if you donate 15+ slot bags that we can give away to new players! Wings of Dwayna longbow if you donate to Extra Life or make an Extra Life page Legendary Greatsword Sunrise - if you donate multiples of $5 to BeTheMatch (min: $10) - or mutliples of $20 to Extra Life 👋 If anyone has any questions or concerns regarding the event, please reach out! Looking forward to seeing you all there
  9. I encourage you to ask for a refund if you can. For some reason for me, the price didn't click initially and I deeply regretted the purchase. I asked for a full refund and asked them to forward my feedback to the dev team. I was told to bring feedback to the forums - and here I am. Asking for a refund, at least, will send a message as well.
  10. Realizing how much it was in comparison to the price of the Battlelord Cowl & Cape (600 gems, which came with 2 head pieces and 1 cape) - I ended up asking for a full refund. While I don't mind my character being bald, and the physics on the cape and hood is nice - by comparison with other combos, it isn't worth the price. Let alone - this is 1000 gems, which makes it cost more than the $10 USD price for 800 gems that's available as the lowest tier of gems you can buy on the store. In order to get this, you would have to pay $20 USD for 1600 gems - and that doesn't feel ok. Especially in comparison to the other items we've seen in the past. I've paid a lot of money to this game. I've bought a lot of skins and what not at 1600 gems and bought many of the cape/headpiece and cape/glider combos. This is not worth 1000 gems. 1000 gems is an Identity repair kit (Makeover kit + name change). Name Changes and character slots are 800 gems ($10). This is higher priced than a new character. Not buying gems, this is about 300+ in game gold to convert to gems. I encourage everyone to please speak out against this (and encourage your friends), and to resist buying this. The best way we can prevent a price hike from this in the future is to hit them in the analytics by making the sales data very low, and speaking out against this.
  11. I suggest taking a look at the Roleplaying Connections section! Looks like people have started a list of Discords there for people to connect as well.
  12. With certain other websites going down, it's going to be a lot harder to find some places to organize RP and events. So it's good to have this list on hand. Here's a few others that have cropped up recently as well for English (NA): Krytan Coalition (Divinity's Reach and general Krytan RP): https://discord.gg/M4aBFkT2e7 The Noble Community: https://discord.gg/arrgWyVG2B
  13. If you have an upcoming roleplaying event planned, please post it here! Please provide... Name of the Event: Insert a cool name here! Time and Date of the Event: MM/DD/YYYY (or whatever format you prefer) at xx:xx time! (Please also indicate which time zone!) Location of Event: Harathi Hinterlands? A specific in game location? Very Short Description: What's the event about? More Info: need to contact someone? Mention it here! Please only post OPEN events that follow the rules for this subforum, including the Terms of Service and Code of Conduct. If you are roleplaying AT THE MOMENT - please consider using the LFG tool in game to advertise your RP party or squad!
  14. As the title says - let's use this thread for anyone who may be new to roleplaying or even roleplaying in the Guild Wars 2 setting. Ask any question, and we can do our best to help you get started. Please keep in mind the Rules and Info pinned to Roleplay Discussion - and try to follow those guidelines when asking questions or responding to them. Let's help each other out!
  15. One of the most fun things I really have been enjoying when roleplaying Sylvari is to RP out the connection that Sylvari have with each other. They talk about this a lot in the Grove, feeling someone's grief or anger from across different areas. I know friends who sometimes will use music. Some of us will use metaphors for feelings. My character's an elementalist, so I often go for fire or elemental metaphors if I can. How do other people incorporate this into their roleplay? Do you use certain descriptors? Let's talk about Empathy here!
