  1. I generally avoid the forums for numerous reasons but in light of recent revelations and upcoming changes I felt it important to say my piece. The upcoming design notes and design philosophy will be of critical importance, probably the most critical thing so far in my time with GW2. While I'm most likely not the target of the changes in this patch I will still be affected, but it is the future vision of class design that will ultimately decide if organized group content is something I actively want to participate in. Granted I mostly interact with high end content in a limited fashion. I find the constant group stacking gameplay so-so, but mainly it is the boon addiction this game suffers from that I generally avoid. Reducing class diversity by removing unique gameplay elements in favor of boons to feed this addiction feels bad. Additionally I want to add that one of the reasons I started to play was because there was no holy trinity but more of a hybrid combat with self-sufficiency with minor support and combo interactions. Boons where a bonus, not a rule. Having recently replayed the old dungeon content that doesn't cater to stacking you can really tell this direction has shifted dramatically from modern PvE. Now we have the holy trinity (or quartet) in all but name and it feels... uninspired. Especially if the intent is for all the classes to be simplified and homogenized, removing meaningful class choices. Not counting certain... favored classes. Cheers.
  2. similar issue where I got the ultimate edition. I did not get the 80-boost, shared inventory slot or character slot. I'm also waiting for the gems. I did get the various skins (raptor, cape, weapon, skiff), along with a external character slot that I picked up on checkout.
  3. Can confirm. I can't get credit for the uplands llama which I had found previously. Got credit for the two I hadn't found previously in the past.
  4. In case of doubt, do both! Many people make multiple alts of the same class with different builds rather than keep switching builds/gear on only one character, or if they like you want to have different races to play with.
  5. SAB isn't really my cup of tea so don't care much for it, but I hope they don't add (more) skins or minis or that make ANNOYING SOUNDEFFECTS. That said, I think it being a seasonal event is part of why it is special and popular. I'm not sure it would get so much attention if it would be permanently available. It is also the only seasonal event in a city other than LA and DE. I kinda hope the other cities will get their own festivals at some point, but I doubt it will ever happen.
  6. Haven't updated my setup in 3+ years so could probably use a change, but: Q: HealMousebutton 4 (by the thumb): DodgeE-R-T: Ulitiy 1-2-3Y: Elite skill§: Weapon swapÄ: toggle WalkÖ: sheath weapon Everything else is deafult that I can remember, though I should probably keybind the invidual mounts at some point.
  7. I like them all, but Primordus is my favourite and also in my opinion very dangerous. We have a general location for all the other ED and can keep tabs and contain the movements of their minions, but the only thing we know about Primodus and the Destroyers is that they can come from beneath us, anywhere. I also think it would be a tactical nightmare for the Pact to fight Primordus; it submerges itself in lava, being underground restricts the use of airships tanks and artillery, and as far as we know it doesn't need to corrupt living beings to create more minions (that might have changed with the influx of life/death magic). Also I have a nostalgic fear of Destroyers from GW1, where they were quite lethal. I am curious what Jormag is up to; from all indications it has completely dominated the Far Shiverpeaks, and it and the Icebrood should be seeking new sources of magic for it to feed on fairly soon.
  8. I believe that any race/gender combo is viable if you have the theme or fashion to pull it off.I also find that it helps to have a proper background for the character in mind to help guide some of the aesthetics. My charr female is a necromancer (Reaper) for the Blood Legion that got assigned to be an ambassador, so trying to find a look that fits the theme (military/diplomat) has been an interesting challenge. In addition I think the charr (both male and female) has great casting animations, and feels really good with a more aggresive playstyle of the necro. As for voiceactors I think all of them have their ups and downs, but find most of them good enough for me. I'm not really bothered by anyone except Human male, which is a bit too off for me. Can't really put my finger on it.
  9. I still think the most simple and clean solution is a system similar to how XP converts to Spirit Shards, except instead you get a random amount of a random currency found in the wallet (excluding Gems) for each "new" MF-level beyond 300. Things like recipes, vendors and eaters can come later. This would allows us to keep consuming luck as normal and occasionally get a reward that is immediatly deposited into the wallet, reducing micromanagement. This is probably the most important thing for me; GW2 has way more inventory clutter and management than I am comfortable with at the moment.
  10. The classes I usually recommend for beginners are Warrior, Guardian, Ranger and Necromancer depending on armorclass (heavy/medium/light). Each has a fairly low learningcurve in gameplay, straighforward class-mechanics and have decent healthpools. You won't be able to facetank in the traditional mmo-sense in GW2, but the heavy classes can take some extra hits and the lighter classes has pets/minions to help you out in the openworld as you learn. The Elite Speccs at lvl80 isn't something you should be too worried about as a beginner; focus during leveling on learning the ins and outs of your chosen class and combat in general. Once you hit level 80 you should have sufficent gameplay experience (unless you rush it) to start exploring what the elite speccs adds or changes about the class.
  11. Most important of all, the ability to jump!
  12. (Haven't read the thread.) One thing that would be a big winner for me is if they somehow managed to reintroduce branching storylines again that is preferably focused on either race, order or even profession. HoT featured some unique bits of dialouge when you played as a Sylvari, and PoF had the Domain of the lost showing previous events. The last LS had unique ways to escape the prison depending on your profession. But overall both the HoT and PoF campaign felt pretty generic and linear. It didn't matter if I played as a Norn or Asura, Vigil or Whispers, Warrior or Elementalist. Everyone is the Commander, and that's it. If they made a "race/order/prof matters"-expansion featuring new cultural skins, mounts, maybe even masteries, that would be sweet. Basically make character choices matter again.
  13. If we are not talking dragons, then I wouldn't mind another invasion of Margonites and demons. The world is ending anyway so might as well bring about a second Nightfall.
  14. Lesson 16. Be more afraid of boring the user than challenging them. If I was guaranteed to faceroll everything without effort on my part it would be quite boring, I like a game that is able to punch back at times. The only issue I had with ol' Scruffy was that the healthpool was to large, thus dragging out the fight and repeating the mechanics to boredom (If I got lazy though, I was punished which is correct).
  15. While the DSD is certainly a foreboding problem on the horizon, the dragon I always thought more dangerous is Primordus because he can be anywhere. Also, I have a unhealthy amount of respect for Destroyers after Gw1 were they were quite lethal, and they are certainly no pushovers in Gw2 either.
