  1. I'm kinda curious, what exactly are you hoping to accomplish by coming back to this thread and putting down the same points over and over again? I honestly have no idea what your goal is here, other than "QoL changes" for a class you haven't even touched in half a year. the discussion you're having with this passerbye guy isn't exactly the most intellectual debate anymore. I've been hanging around this thread because I genuinely like reading people's opinions on my favourite class in the game, but I'm at a loss as to what you're looking for now
  2. ele main here, yeah catalyst is easy. most classes in the game will be difficult if you're expecting amazing DPS off of not much practice and experience. difficulty in catalyst doesn't come from the tight and high pace rotation, it comes from adapting to mechanics in fights. you could lose earth auto time and not have enough energy for the next loop, you could be forced to go away from the boss while you're in water and not be able to use water 4, 5 and 2, you could mess up somehow and use grand finale when you're not supposed to (does happen sometimes). but the thing is, it's always possible to adapt to these situations. once you go through them a few times, it becomes easy to deal with. i'll say it with confidence, if you feel catalyst isn't worth it for you then you're better off playing something else that works well for you. no shame in it, everyone has a kind of gameplay that vibes well with them. but the simple fact is, if anet makes it so average players can do 42k DPS without tryharding at all, then the best players and benchmarkers would end up getting a 55k bench. you're not gonna say 55k is a healthy bench for any class in the game, right? dunno why you're talking about pylon catalyst when no one else ever mentioned it. "with nothing to show for it" is simply not true. if you play catalyst well you will be 1st or 2nd on the DPS charts every single time. if you're getting the same damage as other classes with lower benches, maybe you're the one who's not doing well enough with your rotation 😄 "This game's community has repeated complained whenever anything was remotely difficult which is why chrono quickness turned into firebrand quickness , why chrono alac turned into alacrity with single buttons and now "afk alac" mechs." does this mean you want catalyst to go the same route? do you want there to be an LI catalyst build that benches high too? don't understand why else you're bringing this up at all. catalyst is the one ele elite spec where you're pretty much required to cycle through every attunement once per loop (if you're using hammer ofc), obviously it's gonna be called more complex than other builds kitten. fact is, you're not gonna accept anecdotal evidence from anyone. neither from someone with 2 hours of benchmark practice and a higher bench than you for it, nor from someone who says they're an ele main and that it's easy. unfortunately i don't record my raid runs so i can't show you evidence either. boo-hoo for me i guess PS: you can at least look at my 40k bench on my kp.me, if that means anything to you. there's a million mistakes and bad casts in that bench rotation but i still get 40 thousand damage per second 😄
  3. if you have that many issues with it, maybe you're not average 😄 i actually do consider myself average (mainly because i've seen some catalysts do miles better DPS than me in raids). i have a few months of playtime on cata. my highest bench before the big buff was 34k. my biggest bench before the most recent nerf was 40.7k. my current best bench is 37.4k. compared to the current best benches people are pulling off, those are pretty run-of-the-mill numbers. so yeah, average. the thing about ele's state is, you have to just get used to it not being able to provide as much as some other classes can. there's no point complaining about it when people have been doing the same thing basically since launch. the way i see it, the things you actually have to keep track of are - sphere position if it's a mobile fight, EE stacks (which isn't even a problem in actual bosses since everyone spits out combo fields even if your own spheres aren't places well or you don't have energy for them), the fact that you can't gain energy while a sphere is out which is for 5 seconds, and maybe counting earth autos if you wanna tryhard that much. so in terms of things that actually matter if you actually learn the class at encounters that aren't the training golem, there's just sphere placement. sure, doing Hurricane of Pain or Lightning Storm and then the boss moves away sucks, but it's your fault for placing them when you should be ready to adapt to a moving or active bossfight. if you actually learn the rotation, you will always have a finisher for every single attunement. following the rotation, you'll always have access to fire 5, air 5, water 4 or 5 and earth 5. finishers are literally the easiest part of playing catalyst, not sure why you consider it something to track. EE stacks exist to motivate you to actually interact with the main mechanic of the class, using fields and finishers to make combos, so if they make EE give that much stats baseline then there's no point doing any combos more often than 15 seconds. the ultimate thing, i can agree with. fire greatsword is a bland skill that you just place and use 5 on, then weaponswap out. only ele elite skills i think are interesting in gameplay are Weave Self and Rebound for obvious reasons. pretty much, if you want to do more than the damage you're doing right now, you're gonna have to practice more and more. if you consider your efforts worthless because mech does the same as you, then you're always free to just play mech 😄i've seen countless times that since i've put in work to do better DPS than i ever did on any class before catalyst, i can actually outDPS people 99% of the time. i really do hope that you can get better at the class if you really are interested in it, it's the class that made me fall in love with elementalist in the first place. i wholeheartedly believe it made me a better player for any class I play, and i hope it can have the same effect for you 🙂
  4. I was on the mechanist train when EoD had just come out, stayed on it for a few months too. So I do have considerable experience with the class, I'm not speaking out of my kitten. You bought the expansion only because rifle became the behemoth it was before recent patches? Where's the point in spending money on something that might change in 2 weeks? MMO balance never stagnates, and big reworks do happen. Did you just assume that the rifle you bought EoD for would stay the same forever, even though you yourself realize it was busted OP? You got exactly what you paid for, the weapon is almost the exact same as it was in animations and gameplay. And speaking of the Mech Genius change, it's the exact same way that heal mechanist is played. HAM always has to micromanage the mech and make it stack on the squad to provide boons. There's nothing wrong with not caring about the debuff, your low intensity gameplay will stay exactly as it was. All that'll change is your damage numbers, which shouldn't matter because they were wildly overtuned before the changes. You're not getting a refund either btw, you need some legitimate reason for one of those.
  5. same experience, for me it stopped moving at 42%, then after restarting the launcher it went back to 0% and still kept "downloading" files while it doesn't seem like anything is being saved to my storage at all. been able to log in and play though, so no idea what exactly is going wrong here.
  6. Same, got errors multiple times in TD, when I traveled to LA it crashed and can't log in either
