  1. thank you all 🙂 I forgot how awesome this community is!!! Any thoughts on how to chose a profession to try out from level 1 (seems to be the prevailing advice!!!)?
  2. Hi All! I am coming back to GW2 and am excited to play. I played a bit at launch but really didn't get much in it because i was more focused on WOW and then SWTOR. However, over the years i have kept it installed and have received quite a lot of login rewards as i made a point to log in often because i thought i would always come back and give it another go. However, all of these things are putting me in a position where i really don't know where i should start. I don't remember much about how to play or what i did before but i am coming in with what i think is likely a wealth of resources: - 6 characters that are 80. 4 of them are fully boosted and two of them were played to 30ish and then boosted - 2 additional level 80 boosts available - 2 lvl 60 and 2 levle 50 boosts along with a plethora of level 40, 30, 20 and about 20 or so tomes of knowldege - 70ish birthday boosters - 13 chests of exotic equipment - 12 chests of loyalty - bunches of stuff that i think might be important but not sure what they do - mystic coins, mysic forge stones, dragonite ore, bloodstone dust and bunches of other mats I really don't know where to begin, or even how to figure out what to play. Goals wise i do want to chase legendary weapon skins and armor so wondering if map completion (which i think i remember was required for legendaries) would be better on a boosted toon? Oh and neither expansion purchased, but more than willing to. Any advice appreciated! 🙂
  3. One other question - when i played there were really no addons and you were stuck with the default UI. Things like all of your actionbars being so far from the middle of the screen always felt bad. Have there been any advancements in this area?
  4. Hello! I am a long time MMO player with many years experience in EQ, EQ2, WOW, SWTOR and then WOW again. My buddy and I are.... disenfranchised with blizzard right now to say the least... and we are looking for another game as it is our primary way of hanging out given we live 6 hours apart. We both tried GW2 very briefly when it came out but couldn’t get into it because of the very different combat. 1) is GW2 a game that long time “traditional” mmo players can really get into? How hard is it to learn the combat properly and where are good resources for that? I think we both were trying to figure out a “rotation” to keep all abilities on cooldowns which I think is wrong lol 2) is GW2 a game that is better duoed with a friend? If we also play at different times occasionally would it be better to have solo alts? 3) coming from a game that is very progression based - “item level” and simming drives a lot of gameplay loops - what would you suggest we work towards? I know there is long term goals like legendaries, but what shorter and mid term goals would scratch a similar itch (understanding the game is different - more worried we might be bored?) 4) similar to above realistically how long does it take to achieve goals like legendariws, having the gear to push the ranked dungeons (fractals I think)? Be able to raid? Etc? 5) having played in the past, my understanding is we might have a ton of annual awards like character boosts. Is it okay to boost and then staet the main story and world content? Should those be reserved for alts? Somethjng in between? 6) finally, is it worth buying the expansions up front to get access to the additional sub-classes? Or better to clear original game first? really appreciate any help :)
