TL;DR If you equip a piece of armor with non-default colors on an equipment tab and then switch to another tab that has a different item with a greater than or equal number of channels set to default colors, the item you swapped to might have its colors overwritten by the other one's.
What follows are some of the results from I've found looking into the bug while in-game. I know there is some known issue going on with Gliders and colors, but I don't have multichannel glider skins so that is not something I have encountered/tested.
First occurence:
On Equipment Tab A i have a Warlord Brigadine coat that I keep on default color settings. On Equipment Tab B I keep an Harrier's Bounty Hunter's Jerkin coat transmuted to look as a Council Watch Chestguard.Every time I do the following swaps "A -> B -> A" the Brigadine has 3 of its 4 channels reset to the colors of the Jerkin
I have tried to mess around a bit more, these are some findings:
- Setup: both A and B on default colors
- Result: B->A yelds no changes; A->B yelds no changes
- Setup: A fully colored with any color from my collection, B on default colors
- Result: B->A yelds no changes; A->B changes all but one of B's channels to A's color (bottom right is unchanged)
- Setup: A fully colored with any color from my collection, B fully colored with another color from my collection
- Result: B->A yelds no changes; A->B yelds no changes
- Setup: A with any amount of channels with an owned color and the others on default, B on default
- Result: B->A yelds no changes; A->B only changes B's channels that correspond to the specifically colored channels on the A (so always ignoring the bottom right channel)
Moving on, I have atempted to reproduce the issue on another character: I've played around on my Necromancer, which has on its 2 equipment tabs different coats (both not transmuted) both with 3 channels that default to "Remove Dye" color:
- Setup: both on default colors
- Result: A->B yelds no changes; B->A yelds no changes
- Setup: A with any channel set on an owned color and 2 channels on default, B on default
- Result: A->B makes B similar to A (one channel colored, 2 channels on default) ; B->A yelds no changes
- Setup: A fully colored with any color from my collection, B on default colors
- Result: A->B A imposes its channels on B; B->A yelds no changes
- Setup: A fully colored with any color from my collection, B fully colored with any color from my collection
- Result: A->B yelds no changes; B->A yelds no changes
Side note #1: Playing around with the ranger I've noticed that the 3 colors that were originally applied on the Watch Council Chestguard (Dusty Grape, Shy Iris, Terracotta) when I originally transmuted the Harrier's Bounty Hunter's Jerkin are no-where to be found now: i do not own them and using the Remove Dye tool on them after having played around with other colors has reset them to [Beige, Black, Beige], so there is something off with the defaults on the coat's colors... or i just dont understand how that works :). I'm pointing this out just in fear that the results on the ranger might be compromised by 2 different issues facing eachother.
Side note #2: I use the same mask on the 2 equipment tabs of the necro, so changing its color on one changes it on the other too, but if right after changing the color I swap to the second equipment tab, in the Hero Panel UI the color of the mask as shown on the character model is still the old one and switching back to the first equipment tab leaves the color on the character model unaltered. This is obviously a very minor inconvenience: not only the color change is immediate on the in-game character model and just closing and reopening the Hero Panel fixes the inconsistency.
Pardon grammar errors and repetitions, but I'm in a rush today and this aint my first language 🙂
