The fact that companies do this is actually awful. Purposefully creating systems and problems that are harmful to the players to sell the solution and we all put up with it because we are beaten down in every other monetized mmo.
Guild Wars treats its players quite well compared to other MMO's. If you want to see truly aggressive monetization just google Black Desert Online.

I would rather they stop with these non-storable currencies and exchanges that pile up on my characters xx.
It's to make you buy more inventory space.

Yeah, Revenant is extremely powerful if you can handle the Legend Swap. I have the same problem, I struggle with the revenant mechanic.
One of the simplest builds to play is Pistol/Pistol Deadeye, Mark your target with F1 and hold down attack 3 until it dies.

You only need to weapon swap if you get bored or run into something that reflects ranged attacks.
All the recommendations so far have been elite specs.
For the easiest levelling experience there's the Necromancer minion master. Your weapon skills are quite weak and you use them mostly to gain life force which you use to activate your F1 power. Your minions do most of the fighting and tank for you. You spam autoattack in your shroud form when you need to join in.
In the end you need to find the class that fits you and your playstyle.

All good advice. I main staff Mesmer. I've upgraded to Mirage. If you need help you can contact me here or in game.

I agree with the advice here. Ultimately what you find easy and fun is subjective.
Try this website and look for the LI (Low Intensity) builds.

Personally I find it difficult to follow the rotations from other people builds and like to learn things by experimentation. But the Low Intensity builds are designed for beginners and are easy to play. They come with an explanation of why they are effective and recommendations on how you can change to a more powerful build and playstyle as you get comfortable with the class.

Can confirm, it's not just you. Problems here as well (EU).

I'm on the EU server and I'm interested in joining. I've levelled up my first level 80 character and I'm looking to learn about the end game and participate in group activities.

I'm in the same situation, I'll try to contact you in game.

Mesmer is great fun. Just try it. If you are struggling then join a guild and see if you can find someone to demo a few moves with the various weapons.
You are welcome to contact me in game.

Necromancer maybe? Scourge and Reaper are both very powerful in different ways at end game.
Chronomancer? It tanks in a weird way. Mesmer is not ideal for new players.
I recommend the Reaper, be a big emo edgelord with a greatsword, scythe and second health bar.
