  1. Mesmer uses a greatsword as a ranged laser cannon - and they are now giving them rifles....for some reason. Meanwhile rangers get a mace - so, thats another weapon they wont be using then.
  2. I strongly suspect that someone simply looked at the list of mesmer weapons and said "they need more ranged weapons" - not understanding that greatsword, for example, is actually a ranged two hander for mesmers.
  3. In these sorts of posts i always see people making reasonable suggestions and talking about awareness of basic things - thats not really the issue. Despite the fact we all have the same stat options and equipment, there are many times i have seen classes turn up and tank an entire enemy team on their own - in ways that shouldnt be possible. I`ve even seen this to the extent to which those players are actually called out by their own team - and their own team has just sat back and watched as the whole enemy team pours a truckload of conditions and mixed damage onto their colleague, all to no effect. And sometimes those players are also out one shotting folks with a level of damage that suggests they arent even using bunker stats. The whole things just seems suspect - often i am not seeing healing, or an effort to mediate damage either - its like the damage done simply doesnt register. The combat logs seem to back this up as there are no blocks, no dodges or misses...its like the combat isnt even happening and sometimes the logs i check are missing great chunks of information. I have seen some weird stuff this season and i cant explain any of it.
  4. This off center thing affects its preview as well - as in, its not in the preview screen but somewhere off camera - you see it for a second and then...gone.
  5. The problem with Jackal skins is that they are reaching a situation of overload. There are so many and even cat based skins like tigers are ending up on jackal from time to time. There are only so many skins someone can regularly use on the mount. If the objective is to sell skins, then just saying "four legs = jackal" is going to be less and less effective as time goes on. What they should be doing is working out a way to put turtles into WvW. Thats a mount that is being forced into action by putting in things like the Gyala Delves breakable walls or those barriers in dragons end - maybe put the seige mount into a battle that actually has a seige going on, even if it means limiting it in some way for balance. They clearly want us to buy more turtle mounts and apparently gave up, going to endless skiffs instead.
  6. I can understand the elementalist going to downstate pretty much all the time - but as a warrior, you should be tearing up the story enemies - even in terrible gear. Get yourself some food that lifesteals or heals on crit and hit things over and over with a greatsword, that should take care of pretty much anything in the basic storyline. The only time you should take a real beating is when you start the heart of thorns content - thats a notable improvement in enemy damage and abilities that really forces you to improve your playstyle. So, if there are issues, you are wise to sort them out now rather than get de-spirited later. Go into the jungle at your best!
  7. It may not use "heavy armour", but reaper works fantastically well as a greatsword tank. Considering that there are a lot of outfits that can give a reaper a massive set of full plate, the visuals are not really an issue these days. Compared to the other alternatives - reaper is likely going to have more of the feel you are looking for when actually played and thats by far the most important thing.
  8. I was super pleased to see fury with a nice long duration - pretty much all my other classes have a reliable source of fury, so this was dearly needed. The fact we were having to scrabble about just to get needed crit was a real problem.
  9. It feels like there are several shots lost, not just the one. I am shooting twice and then a grenade - is the final burst attack now the *only* attack?
  10. Its a horrible change. Even with quickness it feels like being in slow motion and the damage is unresponsive - changing targets means losing several shots - i go play my reaper if i want big slow attacks and now i will go play my soulbeast if i want to move damage around at range quickly.
  11. They should remove a lot of the hit points from the bullet sponge end bosses and maybe entice speedrunners to give them a go. They can give awards based on speed of completion.
  12. I like the last one - they responded to the feedback, made some changes before release and told us about it - i guess that was a one off, which is a big shame. Come on anet, you did good and we liked that - try to do the "good" thing a second time, or even better, keep doing it.
  13. The fomo model they are using just doesnt work with regards to general stock of the gemstore. The occasional "back for 3 days" ones probably sell fine, but the usual slow rotation of the main store just leaves people looking at the same old things for weeks at a time. If i were them, i would go with "if you pay cash, you can get anything, anytime" and then have the normal rotation available for gems and thus potentially gold. I mean, if i really want a particular backpack glider combo, which i currently do - by the time it comes round again, chances are my outfit is different and i no longer want it - so what was the point of keeping it away so long? I would have paid cash to have it right now, but apparently i cant do that....so who wins in that scenario? I dont get what i want, they dont get my money and when the item comes round, i have moved onto other things. Its bizarre.
  14. Its an event where you can judge success or failure before you even begin and you have to do this because the costs of wasting your time on a fail are total. Unfortunately, this actually makes failures worse, as people dont commit fully. You will often see a group organising and there will be many players watching nearby - assessing if their time is well spent helping out, from what they can observe. If there is any doubt, they wont join in and thus a great many skilled players will simply vanish, effectively assuring the fail before the whole thing starts. Its an event that is built to reject help and newer or weaker players are simply excluded and thats wrong. Its also an event that is heavily reliant on good command and squad organisation. Mighty teapot sometimes talks on his streams about how command and leadership are essential skills in this game but that they are poorly rewarded. This event should have been the one to break that situation and to ensure commanders got something out of it. That would also make it a good introduction to strikes, raids and so on, which should be the whole idea for an event at this level. To make matters worse, the rewards are still just "some gold" and for the time its not enough gold, compared to other meta events like drizzlewood or things like dragonstorm. I only take part in it when the mood takes me and many skilled and veteran players will feel the same. There needs to be much better incentive for leaders and vets to put in the tremendous effort that is needed to secure a map and beat a group into shape. Every guild i join, i run into players who have never seen this event completed successfully. Some of them are actually involved in raids, strikes and much harder content, but they are all reliant on others to do the organization. and to get them involved. Their guilds tend not to be interested in the dragons end meta, because of the reward issue, time and so on. Its easier to get many of them raiding than it is to get them into this - how can that be good for the game?
