  1. I've settled finally on Ranger seems I like my leather wearing classes in this game! I'm not entirely sure why I can't handle Guardian I like the class theme or identity as I've always liked Paladin's/Magic wielding warrior's. I have been enjoying the short bow and dual axes on Ranger.
  2. Generally speaking I do mostly solo and story content. I may help out with groups in events or world bosses but never plan to do that. I've only stepped into wvw for living world and maybe adventure guide but quickly left. I had originally been planning on specter which read was better for condition damage over power but got talked out of it and into the berserker's gear. So celestial for condition dragon or marauder for power?
  3. I think I originally had dire because it had condition and some health and toughness but was told to go power and berserker's. So Marauder, Dragon, or Celestial?
  4. What prefix would you recommend? I originally had something else in the gear but someone told me to get berserker's so I did. I haven't done pvp most I've done is go to edge of the mists for living world season 1 (Managed well enough on that till I got to battle of lion's arch).
  5. I'll likely go with Necromancer...I've tried Guardian and I found it harder to level with than the Thief was...Ironically I clicked well with thief considering it's the only game I've played a rogue type in but the anxiety playing it causes at times I need a break from.
  6. Well I had bought level 80 exotic gear before going into living world season 1 I tried both Dire gear and a condition build and after that some berserker gear and a power build while berserker did help I was still getting over stressed with thing's there and I think a little burnt out on the thief for now even though I do enjoy it it's rough on my nerves and anxiety. I leveled easy enough with it but once I got to battle of lion's arch it wasn't so easy.
  7. So my first 80 was a thief and while I do like it it's a bit stressful let's say ha ha...So was wondering what might be a good class to make an alt for that would be much easier and less stressful (I have anxiety so stress isn't always a good thing for me.) I appreciate any help and advice I can get thanks!
  8. Well I was mostly planning on going specter just because I've always been partial to darkness/dark magic/shadow's/etc. From what I saw specter was better as condition yeah? I've been using mostly venom with the leeching venom trait I just wasn't sure as I mostly just winged it as I went. I've been using Dagger/Dagger and Pistol/Pistol and those are the weapon's I bought exotic's for as well. (I do realize eventually I'll have to swap either a dagger or pistol out for a scepter.)
  9. So I recently hit 80 and beat the main story with my thief mostly with ahem gun's blazing (Pistol/Pistol and Dagger/Dagger on enemies that reflect projectiles!) I think my trait's were critical strikes/Deadly Art's/And Acrobatic's (Mostly to help underwater!) Now I've since started living world season 1 I was wondering what some good utilities and trait's would be for a condition build I bought a full set of Dire Exotic Armor, Weapon's (Same as when leveling), Carrion Ring's, and I think something similar for accessories and amulet all exotic quality those were the most I could ahem afford.
  10. I've tried all the weapon's and its why I narrowed it to dual daggers, dual pistol's, and shortbow Pistol/Dagger and Dagger/Pistol just didn't feel right for me. Why will trickery spoil me?
  11. I've recently returned from a long break due to many real life issues and settled on leveling a thief I just got it up to 21 and was wondering on trait's and the like! I was planning to go dual daggers and maybe either dual pistol's or short bow haven't fully decided yet. Is condition feasible for leveling with as a build or should I go with something else? I tried all the non elite spec weapon's and liked dual daggers, dual pistol's, and shortbow best. I admit I've always had a fondness for dot build's in mmo's but am open to other's and have little experience with rogue's/thieves. 1-Is Condition feasible to level with/Alright for someone unuse to Rogues/thieves if not what would be? 2-Either way what kind of trait's should I train? I'm likely going Daredevil for elite due to my love of the Martial Artist theme but Specter is tempting as I have a soft spot for dark magic figured I'd choose later on when I got to 80.
  12. On an unrelated question when did they add getting a raptor at level 10? I must of been away longer than I thought that and the adventure guide were a shock....i ended up going thief as it felt better to me gameplay wise. How is dagger\dagger and sword\dagger to pair with my other set which will be ranged?
  13. Sorry for slow reply yesterday was grocery day and my nerves needed a rest. As I said not big on pvp back in wow and swtor I would do battlegrounds and whatever swtor's was called but never competitively just for something new to do. I admit I liked how Virtuoso sounded (I always did like psychic/Psionic/Chi type classes)...I was curious how does Mirage play similarly? I admit to knowing little about most elite spec's daredevil only caught my eye for the Martial Arts theme to it. I have little experience with Rogue's/Thieves. Here's a better question between Thief and Mesmer which would be easier to level as? I will be leveling 1-80 so I suppose finding one that's a bit easier for someone returning to get up to those spec's. I was originally considering Revenant but the way trait's and skills were handled with them seemed a bit strange compared to other's.
  14. I had some issues that kept me away from the game for a while (Grandfather's health, erm my mental health, constant power outages, and new internet.) And just recently (IE reinstalled last night) came back! Now I'm having trouble choosing between two classes Thief and Mesmer....I will state years ago I played mesmer a lot with Necro in GW1 so I have a soft spot already for mesmer....I like thief mostly for the Daredevil elite spec....As I've always always loved Martial Arts/Monk themed classes (DnD or Non GW themed monk boy that was confusing when I first tried gw1 ha ha.) I'm not big on pvp I may throw my hat in the ring now and then but its not a HUGE draw for me just something I do time to time...I prefer mostly PVE stuff and due to Agoraphobia and anxiety issues mostly do solo things but have been trying lately in games like this to be more social. So basically I'd be soloing/doing PVE/and Dabbling here and there with pvp (I'm not overly competititve so pvp is more a dabble for me than anything major.) Thank you in advance!
  15. I am considering going with either Guardian or Warrior (I lean slightly towards guardian). I am likely going to solo things likely mostly story as I'm more story focused than anything. 1-What are some good guardian weapons for leveling? I know some are better than other's and 2-What are some good core specs/skills? (Haven't given much thought to elite specs as It's going to be QUITE a while I fear ha ha.) As I said I'm torn between guardian and warrior....Both are classes I haven't played much at which is why I thought I'd ask for advice and which you thought would be better for doing things solo!
  16. While I will replace the dagger offhand on axe as you suggested and thank you... I LIKE the dual daggers and will keep using them (Until GS which I do like two handed swords a bit more.) I was asking about the second weapon slot whether it was better for axe/offhand and what offhand or staff. As well as whether I should go power or condition for daggers. Of all the weapons Dual daggers, axe, and staff were my favorites of the non reaper weapons. Staff only due to it turning into a scythe in a necro's hands =P
  17. My question is this is axe better for second weapon slot (First is dual daggers as I wanted to melee will change to greatsword when I unlock Reaper.) Or staff? If axe is Axe/dagger alright or should I go with something else in the offhand? keep in mind my Necromancer is just under 20 (I think either 17 or about to hit 17) It was between Melee Necromancer or Melee Mesmer and necro won out yesterday. (Tried both and Necro felt better to me and I did like the utilities more for necro.) Also should I go more Power with dual daggers or condition? I thought condition at first given all the dot's daggers have but have found nothing but power daggers maybe a healing one here or there.
  18. To be honest I like Dark Knight/Death Knight themes in characters so that doesn't bother me. I didn't like Mirage I liked Chronomancer for the Time/Gravity magic theme hence why Mirage wasn't an option for me. Magic/Class theme is important to me and something I find myself more or less drawn to a class for (IE Reaper for the dark knight themes, originally thief for the daredevil's martial artist theme, and Chronomancer for the time/gravity magic.) Reason I asked about whether mesmer was close to a thief I spent more or less a month trying to get my thief to work ha ha I got good advice on here but alas thief just wasn't for me.
  19. I'm currently torn between two classes after my epic failure that was thief (Basically I don't think thief was viable for me and spent way too long trying to force myself to play it as I liked daredevil thematically as it reminds me of martial artists/Monk types in other games.). Now I am torn between two classes due to elite spec's Mesmer for the Chronomancer (I mean any class that can use gravity based magic is awesome sounding) and Necromancer for the reaper. My question is this the Mesmer isn't overly....Thief like is it? And how viable or difficult are melee mesmers? I prefer battlemage types over straight up casters though do know mostly its up to build here. Whatever class I go with I'm wanting to get through the expansions with and of the classes I liked these two the best so wanted to get other people's takes on them and the elite spec to make a choice.
  20. Yeah after trying some things I'm thinking thief just isn't for me as much as I'd like it to be given I like Daredevil least how it sounds...I may come back to it after some time but I'm thinking thief classes just may not be my forte. Thank you all for the help!
  21. Reason I mentioned it as since I've started trying higher level areas I've had more problems with surviving which I assume is natural for a thief (especially for someone who has little experience with rogue classes). So was looking to try and find something to give me a bit more survivability. I can handle the 15-25 areas well enough but the 30+ areas my health goes down fast ha ha.
  22. I'm open to dagger/dagger I just more or less got a really nice sword (think it let out a blast of fire around me on critical). And the number 3 skill wasn't as dangerous to use I've "flipped" myself into other mobs or off ledges more times than I can count with daggers. I do have a question on paper at least Shadow arts looks good for survival is there something wrong with it? It seems to be ignored by people.
  23. I admit the reason I like Daredevil is the more Martial artist/Non-Guild wars Monk feel it has plus there's only a few games (That I know of) where you can melee dps with a staff. The pistols are there mostly just for tagging event monsters so I can get xp though has come in handy in the story once or twice due to powerful enemies. As for my dislike of mixing ranged and melee its just a preference of mine it just looks and feels...out of place I tried it but couldn't do it as I said just felt out of place for me.
  24. I was planning on Daredevil anyway and switching to Staff...I am though as I said just level 32 so can't get EITHER of those yet.
  25. I just started playing Thief recently so never played around with Ricochet. So do them in that order? (Deadly Arts,Critical Strikes, and Trickery)
