  1. Seems like a big problem with a simple solution! Either bring back the unique icons, or increase the size of the charge indicator number, or add a toggle in the options to increase the size of the number to cover at least 1/3 of the skill icon. For those who don't understand what the issue is: the mantra has one icon when it has 2 or more charges, and a different icon when it's up to the last charge. If you are visually impaired, the different icons were really helpful for telling how many charges you have left. Right now, you can use up your last charge without realizing and be forced to wait for the cooldown rather than having it ready for an emergency. The game shouldn't be harder for visually impaired people for no reason.
  2. There won't be full guild servers lmao. All servers will be made up of Guild Alliances+Guilds+Pugs. Alternatively, join a guild instead of sitting on your ranger all night. Or form a casual 'server community' guild with you and most of your friends and other pugs
  3. Why would you need two hours to get from your bedroom to your office room while working from home? Why would lower tiers be dead? One of the working points of this system is that it specifically makes matchups more granular, which means individual servers will be smaller (as I see it, most Alliances would be on the size of a link server currently, and all the servers would be smaller than the T1 servers currently, closer to T2/3 servers, which have more than enough activity even in 'dead' timezones).
  4. I'll make your job easier and say the vast majority of the unique responses is positive for Alliances =) Most of the unique naysayers cite community and 'small roaming' guilds, but I think you guys can go a long way by just reassuring them them they won't be left by the side. At least you added a comment on the 18th page instead of stopping after the first day like most other popular WvW threads in the past. Don't disparage him, my dude. Seattle is PST, he's opened this thread first thing after getting to work this morning at 9:15 am.
  5. Good point, reposted for awareness. If you talk to the actual OCX/SEA guilds, you'll realize nobody wants to do that shit anymore. I can name nearly every OCX/SEA guild and I can tell you unlike primetime, there are barely any offhours guilds who play for something other than fights. My OCX guild is already planning to talk to other OCX guilds and possibly organize a full split up between different alliances so as to ensure no one alliance is too stacked, in order to achieve the best fights (in the same way NA guilds did for GvG tiers back in 2015). Someone's obsessed lmfao. Still butthurt about something three years ago?
  6. This already happens.. It's happened many many times over the past few years. The people who 'control' the server can ban guilds from the server TS/Discords, or even just outright nuke the voice comms (a.k.a. Hellhammer it). They can pay other guilds to move into the server or withhold the money. I don't think CD has played server politics, but for most other servers, this is nothing new. Also how would guilds even have 'power' over their server under the new system? At most, the only person with any power to affect other guilds is the originator of a guild alliance, that's it. What would even be the correct path to take, according to you?
  7. Just stuff the armour pieces in a bank or on a mule? They're good to have for future gearing and most runes and sigils used in WvW are cheap. Though I agree it's weird to not be able to salvage/forge them.
  8. I'm glad the response to this thread is actually massively in favour of the Alliances system. Lots of different people enthused for this, only a handful of the same naysayers repeating old points over and over.
  9. Nah. 500-1000 players is maybe 2-3 blob guilds (whose rosters can go up to 200-300 in guild) or 6-7 smaller guilds who have 50-100 people in their rosters.
  10. I agree with you. I know of many others who do not want to join a guild but enjoy running with them and these people are not low-skilled newbies at all. Now, they will mainly be used as fillers and thrown into the dailies people. How do you satisfy their expectations? Have you never been in a guild with a 'friends' role? Just ask them "Yo, I enjoy running with you, can you invite me and give me a 'friend' role so I can stick with your alliance?" I know plenty of roamers who're members in bigger guilds and regularly cloud with them. What's the massive aversion towards joining guilds? You're assuming every guild is like... ☆ 100% REP ☆ ONLY PLAY WHEN COMMANDER IS ONLINE OR GKICK ☆ 5g/raid GUILD TAX OR GKICK ☆ NO ROAM ONLY MEGABLOB OR GKICK ☆ PM SSN FOR INVITE ☆. There are plenty of guilds who go casual for fights and almost every guild I know people in will let friends in. Yeah, there are some freak cases, but I can only name like 3-4 of those out of all the guilds in NA. Like, can you just name a guild your and your friends run with without wanting to join, who won't let you in if you just ask? Believe it or not, everything that you posted on the guild rules are true. lol. 100% rep; run only zerkers/maruaders; play this day and time only, commit to x days; no xx class allowed; call out every single skill you put on the battlefield; no voice-comm on button press allowed; gold tax; no girls allowed; no this and no that. And then of course you have to deal with toxicity where the elitists will determine that it is your fault the group lost the last fight. That being said, I am glad something is being done to balance the population (fingers crossed). I just want to point out that this is going the step of PVE raids and there will be a bunch of people who will lose out. What guild is that tho lmao. Definitely not on NA, we don't allow such acoustics here. Why would you even run alongside those people instead of memeing them 24/7 lol. But I get your point. Freak cases do exist.

  12. Um. That is precisely the problem. The people who play competitively want balance and the people who play casually want the community. There's no real way to support both properly. That said, the banwagoners and the server communities have had their way for half a decade and we've bled players all through it. We need something new now, or we'll keep bleeding players while these people just log in to afk on some siege.
  13. I think this idea is a pretty damn good one. The idea of guild alliances has been thrown around a lot and for good reason: it now gives you the opportunity to get closer with your guilds, encourages pugs to join one or even just form their own community guild, improving overall gameplay, and balances out population more. That's the typical forumgoer though lol, they don't read posts, they just skim the OP and then come down whining or raging in the thread. @McKenna Berdrow.2759 Do you have any considerations for asking guilds to label their 'timezone' as well? There're strong distinctions between most NA, OCXSEA and EU guilds, but a lot of players play both timezones and so may skew the algorithms. Additionally, will you consider calculating the mixing of OCX/SEA separately from NA? Overall, the scale of numbers is smaller in those timezones and if NA's numbers are used to match up alliances there would be too few different matchups for OCX/SEA and too much blobbiness that a lot of them dislike./
