Looking at the sources of pips, outnumbered is a small percentage (7%) of overall pip gains compared to ranks and placement, despite the fact that outnumbered is a huge bonus (+5). The changes outlined in the blog (+2 baseline pips) are intended to provide more players, more pips, in more scenarios. We wrapped up the draft of the blog post today and it's now being routed through our editing team and localization (for DE/FR/ES players). It was over 1,500 words last I looked, so it'll take a few days for that to get processed. Early next week is a safe bet. -j

  6. It's been a busy week! The team has been digging into the data we gathered last week and we're at a point where we have a really solid understanding of what went wrong and what we need to do before we can attempt it again. In my last post I mentioned we're going to share a post-mortem of the issues we ran into and what we learned. Now that we've identified the root issues and we have a plan in place to tackle them, the writing comes next! We're out of office tomorrow, but our goal is to have it posted next week sometime. We aspire to have our testing environments mirror the Live servers as much as possible, but there's nothing like having thousands of real players crash into a system all at once to expose issues!   9. Are you in a large guild, with over 50 players that likely selected that guild for WvW? There was a bug early this week where selections weren't locking in above a certain player count.
  10. Interesting question. You'd technically be matchmade as a guild, but it wouldn't change your placement really since we look at your WvW activity. Your WvW activity would be the exact the same if you matchmade as a solo player or as part of a 1 player guild.

  12. I think they'll be interesting data points for us to take a look at! We're not terribly concerned at the present moment. The current planned alliance cap is 500 players, the same number of players that can stack in a single guild.

Now that the dust has mostly settled from today’s release, we’re here to give a quick update on the WvW World Restructuring rollout and the first matchmaking event on Friday. On August 31, we released the new backend server infrastructure required for World Restructuring and it’s been running silently on Live for the past 3 weeks. The servers are in a state called “echo mode”, where real data is passed through them without impacting the player experience.   18. Some players aren't able to see the new tab. Relogging is fixing the issue for some, but not for all. The team is investigating the issue and we'll keep you posted!

  22. When I started getting into WvW again, the first thing I did was ask in EBG map chat if any guilds were recruiting. I was picked up almost immediately (they didn't know I was a dev) and the guild I joined really helped me get up to speed - finding the right build, learning the meta, etc. Highly recommend finding a group of players to play with. 🙂 Also, many worlds have a "server discord" where pug groups are run out of. I'd recommend asking around to see if your server has one and joining it.
