The way I see it, the pet/minion activity or character movement animation only shouldn't count as activity and result in a disconnect. There is no real use-case for the auto-run feature, most maps are so small that if you run for a minute you're pretty close to the edge already. Or at least handle the reports in a way that makes the community able to do the spotting for you if there is no technical preventive measure to implement.

Hi, as a part of my daily gw2 routine I gather the rich mining nodes around the map, and have been noticing a lot of mining bots, that have almost same name and many many same looking characters logging in at the same time, mining and then logging out. Another thing, some spots have the afk farmers running into a wall, and killing different mobs with their pets/minions. Could this be addressed by arenanet? It's crazy disappointing to see especially those afk farms, same dudes there week after week. I've submitted reports on each but they are still alive and kicking.
