  1. When the event is nothing more than a 3minute skill lagfest and particle effect massacre.. breakbars become irrelevant.Breakbars or not, they don't last long enough for players to care.. it's all about getting in the map, putting skill 1 on auto and going to make a coffee then collect loot (if you dont have the auto loot) remap to next boss.. rinse repeat. The only exception is maybe Teq where you have to stop auto attacking (mostly) when Teq flies off and the defence stages start.. kinda becomes 3 or 4 stages of auto attacking with a short run in between.Breakbars on world bosses became irrelevant 5minutes after they were introduced imo. Tell that to Serpent's Ire. Not to mention there are still achievements that'd be nice to get on the Shatterer bosses in both Blazeridge and Jahai.
  2. This event reasserts the need for a good breakbar tutorial. Too many people in these boss events for like the shatterer just plain don't know what a breakbar is even though anet has intended for us to use them as part of the boss fight mechanics. That's on anet to fix because we can try to make informative forum posts or use map chat to attempt to instruct people on what to do, but many players never view the forums, never look at chat. So we need something in the tutorial to address what is such a common mechanic in the game. It's about as important as dodging, and dodging has a tutorial (even though it's a badly implemented side tutorial that these same players who don't care about improving skip) You changed the new player experience and tutorials before taking out the downed state tutorial, you can do it again.
  3. Wuts a "non-pvp player" doing ina pvp related game mode anyway. Probably getting gifts of battle for legendaries. Anet kind of pushed it on anyone who wants Legendary weapons or accessories that they'll have to do WvW. Not to mention pvp and wvw dailies result in better rewards if all your characters are capped and you're at the mastery cap, xp is worthless and that's the basis of pve daily rewards.
  4. Unable to keep up with groups without a warclaw Unable to unlock warclaw because groups take keeps before I get there and you need a good sized group to take a keep, and a keep capture is required to unlock the thing All your server's good wvw guilds abandoning ship leaving your server completely blown out of the water, last I knew it was called "Zombie Coast" Frequent balance patches make it so that if wvw isn't your main game mode, it can be unwarrantedly expensive to constantly regear characters as the character you spent hundreds of gold on to have an effective wvw build is now reduced to being useless by a patch, and the set is useless in pve as well so it's just a big moneypit. Server performance. There's a legit problem if you have had to from the beginning make workarounds to address performance of a core game mode. First there was culling, now we just see blobs of floating red names and start getting skill lag.
  5. What I'm seeing with warclaw is mostly negative actually. It creates a disparity, those who have it vs those who don't, if you need to run a group with mixed people some of which have not unlocked it yet they'll form a tail which makes your group weaker with all those stragglers, previously commanders understood that aoe swiftness buffs had a limit to their targets so if people fell behind and started forming a tail they'd swing back around to pick up those people and give them a chance to catch some of the aoe swiftness buffs going out if they were not able to maintain it 100% themselves. Keeping the zerg together made it more successful. Now with warclaws, those with the mount just surge ahead, leaving those without behind to get slaughtered by roamers or enemy zergs. Those without have trouble keeping up to help capture keeps as well. However if you have a full zerg with everyone having the mount, then you're able to have your server run one roaming defensive blob of at least 60 players that hops map to map responding to attacks, and they're able to prevent even T1 towers from being taken. We're talking about porting in to their citadel wp'ing to garrison, and getting to SE or SW tower, even if it's only T1 with no defenders, and being able to wipe the group taking that tower and then mapping off to the next attack on another map and doing the same thing. They'd have never made it before on foot. A T3 that was defended by a few players maybe but not an empty T1. Because of this, before you had to split your defenses, keep adequate presence on every map, have scouts and defenders. Now just get a blob and warclaw over to the white swords that pop up, you'll catch them as they're killing the lord probably.
  6. Anet wants you to grind, they just don't want you to be rewarded for it.
  7. Not to mention, Tolkien didn't make any of those characters absolutely vital that they survived after the destruction of the ring or the whole world would tear itself apart. Aurene was more than just a character that people got attached to, more than just another protagonist, she was also the solution to a problem that happens if you kill too many elder dragons. Now that's gone, now we have no solution to the world tearing itself apart outside of some deus ex Taimi arsepull or a cheesy resurrection.
  8. It's a problem now, but in a few weeks it won't be and I can totally see it be at least somewhat engaging when there is another person trying to get them too. It's sad that these classic MMO moments just can't happen in GW2, since they have their very own charme. You're probably the only person here who think getting node ninjaad having someone killsteal from you has "charm" That stuff builds character :) I'm saying that things shouldn't be changed because of what happens during the absolute peak of player numbers. Never again will there be as many players as on release who attempt to do something, making it not a problem for people to come. Not the kind of characters you want to be.. it makes people jerks to each other, I'd know, that's what it made me into, a jerk towards other people. Maybe if MMO's in my earlier days had been more like GW2 I'd be nicer. But I spent 10 years wishing I could reach through the screen and strangle the other guy any time I saw another player mining in the same area as I was.

  10. So uh.. you just took all the setup and planning and backup planning and character development since HoT ended and just flushed it down the toilet in one moment, after Caithe was set up to do something special you killed it off in the same episode.. leaving us with what.. 1 more episode to conclude this arc with not only leaving us with some unseen Macguffin to deal with Kralkatorrik, but also a second Macguffin in order to explain how the world doesn't end AFTER killing Kralkatorrik? Aurene might have been a Macguffin but at least it was one with some plot development to her and we interacted with her, and she sort of made sense (being a dragon that can become a new elder dragon that shares magic harmoniously rather than going through cycles of waking and gorging creating destruction and just hoarding it all, but at the same time preventing it from tearing the world apart). Now we have nothing and it's just going to be Deus Ex Machina for a chapter? Lemme guess, Taimi sacrifices her life and the power of frienship absorbs the wayward magic and prevents the destruction of the world? Is that our 2 Macguffins? You might say "just wait and see what they do" but you've undone all the plot devices previously set up so whatever it is it will be brand new coming out of thin air and saving the day in 1 chapter with no development. That's quite possibly the worst thing you can do in making a narrative. Next worse would be either somehow undoing the death because of Joko's involvement or any sort of resurrection, because that cheapens the impact of her death"Don't worry about Aurene dying fam, now we have zombeh Aurene! owo"... or the "it was all just a dream/vision" trope. Please please please tell me you got something better than those 4 outcomes.. by those 4 I mean: It was all just a dreamZombeh Aurene (owo)/Aurene resurrection"Tyria is saved by teh power of FRIENDSHIP! uwu"Deus Ex Machina (or even Deus Ex Taimi (although if it comes from scruffy that'd LITERALLY be Deus Ex Machina wouldn't it?)) MacGuffin that is totally brand new with no development.Other amateur ways to wrap this narrative up include: Kralkatorrik decides to go back into hibernation (how anticlimactic..)"It's only a model"/entire narrative is just a simulation/you're in the Matrix, it's a played out trope, but I wasn't even impressed the first time I saw it in Star Ocean 3."The bad ending" Kralkatorrik dies, magic runs wild and tears Tyria to pieces, thank you for playing Guild Wars 2, servers will be shutting down at the end of the month, although this at least would be fairly unique... hopefully your narrative team isn't amateurs.. are they amateurs?
  11. Please put the Orr Cathedral events/Gates of Arah event on timers like most other meta events/world bosses. You utilize the events for a ton of collections and yet without any kind of schedule all you can do is sporadically pop in and hope you get lucky enough that the event is running.. or.. when it's literally the last thing you need for the collection you just have to park yourself at the event and twiddle your thumbs staring at the screen blankly unable to do anything else or you'll just miss the event. It's not in the least bit fun.
  12. Just adding my name to the list. Wonder how many people will be affected by this and how many pages deep it'll go before anet makes any kind of response.
  13. Could this be the problem? This object here uses the same model as the poisonous urchins during the event but you cannot interact with it. I've seen it here every time I come to check for the event, it kind of stands out because that's the "enemy" in the event. Is it not resetting becuase of this leftover "dead" urchin model?
  14. Still bugged and I can't predict the timing of a patch so.. no way to know if I'll ever be able to get this done, It's literally the last thing I need.
  15. it's not as arbitrary as the AR stopping point because with AR there's a cap and you can reach that cap with a multitude of combinations of Agony infusions. The Swim speed infusion is only on one piece so it's cap is whatever the highest you can get on that one piece. If this were in combat run speed you'd also be throwing a fit about the cost, you just don't because it's underwater speed and you don't spend a lot of time underwater. That may change depending on future game design.
  16. Or you put up a lfg, first time watching movies. Then everyone that joins know what will happen and watch the movies themselfs. You really have a rosey eyed vision of how other players are in online games. I didn't get to watch cutscenes in GW1 missions until heroes were a thing.
  17. There's only a few reasons this really even becomes an issue is if you try to join a group for an explorable dungeon path and NOBODY has story mode done in the group. There's 2 options: Run the story mode in that group, which sometimes happens, or.. the group falls apart, which is more common because story mode simply isn't worth the time because it's so unrewarding. The other issue is.. if you want to enjoy the story/cutscenes and all that, a group of players, having already seen it all, will be rushing you "hurry up, skip the cutscenes, lets just kill the boss" Solo you'd be free to enjoy the cutscenes and dialogue if it's your first time.
  18. Even friends don't want to be bothered running through story mode most the time.
  19. I do wonder, if the Destiny's Edge characters that accompany you to the dungeon story modes did noticeable damage and used skills to give boons to you or give conditions to enemies and tried to revive you when downed if that would make up a considerable amount of the difference. They do these things in story quests in a fashion that they can't do the quest without your help, but they also do help you in noticeable ways like reviving, Kasmeer spamming time warps, etc.
  20. There were a lot more people needing to do them, and guilds were more interested in doing them since they needed them to unlock too, and once you unlocked explorables they were sources of some of the best loot in the game, best gold farms in game etc. they were just a lot more in demand. Now they're essentially dead content.
  21. Part of that issue is that when you post the group people expect you to lead, and you get a lot of new players who don't know the instance looking to you to tell them what to do. but sometimes the "leader" is just as clueless. Well thats a problem since noone knows who put up the lfg anyway not like you get marked as leader so just put it up if noone knows the dungeon go explore it.EditHave never ever been asked to lead anything when i have put up lfg in dungeons or fractals.I'm pretty sure if you start the LFG it considers you the group leader, as you can stop recruiting or if someone quits you're the one who can advertise to search for new group members.
  22. Not always. I've sat on a lfg for story mode Arah (before they made it soloable) for hours at a time in primetime before.
  23. Part of that issue is that when you post the group people expect you to lead, and you get a lot of new players who don't know the instance looking to you to tell them what to do. but sometimes the "leader" is just as clueless.
  24. It might be an "abandoned" game mode but some things still use the dungeon currencies like legendary weapons, and you need to unlock explorable mode or the wvw/pvp reward tracks to get those normally (I wouldn't really count the tyrian vouchers as a reliable means), and that requires running through story mode.
  25. They did it for Arah Storymode which is a godsend as it can be like screaming into a vacuum to try and find groups for story modes, even in guilds often times they'll just tell you that it's possible to solo the ones the way they are now if you "git gud", because they can't be bothered to help if you need the story mode for some reason. The story mode dungeons are frankly old content, with very poor rewards that don't warrant people grouping up to do, but for average players, probably not soloable.
