  1. Hearts don't tell a story they're literally chores.
  2. This game was supposed to not be like other MMO's where you go to some quest hub, pick up a bunch of grindy chores, then do them and turn in. but in beta players coming from World of Warcraft couldn't figure out what to do when they didn't have "quests" so.. Arenanet made renown hearts to give them chores to do in event heavy areas to guide them to events. They were supposed to be kind of tutorials.. that you were eventually weaned off of it'd have been perfect if they'd only gone up to the level 25 zones and never came back.. but at least at Orr it seemed like they were gone, they were gone from HoT but then someone thought it'd be a good idea to bring chores back, and not only back, but had to be repeated every day. what's worse than already repetitive tedious chores? why having them reset as dailies of course! they don't add anything to the game, they're not fun or engaging, and making them extra repetitive just makes them less so. This game is supposed to be about dynamic events, not static quests so can we please stop with them already? or at the very least not make them required for map completion or meta achievements?
  3. For halloween can we get some spooky roller beetle, warclaw, and skyscale? One of my main character's themes is everything spooky and she's very sad that she can't have a spooky skellington skyscale.
  4. I'm having this happen I'm not using any GW2 mods I added the whole GW2 folder to exceptions I made sure that the docmuments folder where screenshots are stored is not write only. how do you fix this garbage?
  5. Yes please. When you get to where you are doing world bosses with break bars, having players who join the event but do not participate in breakbars is frustrating because all these players do is scale up how much CC is needed to get through the break bar without contributing.A lot of players don't use the wiki, or forums, or any other source of information available currently. you have to put the information in front of their face and force them to learn it before they can continue or they will not learn it.
  6. You can't see lfg unless you have T4 unlocked. And really its not a good idea to just jump in t4. Oh really? When I got started with fractals, it was always with a couple friends. We did T1s until I was all ascended up, then went right into the T4s. Never used LFG until much after that. Either way, I'm sure OP has one friend that's lvl 100.... and they'd have to open the fractal for me whenever I wanted to do them, I'd have to bug them over and over to help me and that's really irritating and straining to be that dependent on people. I've been there. had friends ho were new to an MMO and wanted my help leveling up and with group quests, help with gankers, etc. It was boring for me, and I got tired of them asking for help relatively quickly. I can't imagine that people will just be more patient and be willing to do this regularly enough that I get to a point where I no longer need their help, which is like 50 fractal levels. That's 50 fractals of them having to start the group for me.That's a lot to ask for from people. If it was just once or twice this wouldn't be an issue. Asking a friend to run with you through a dungeon story mode so that you can open the explorable modes later is no real problem, 20 minutes and it's done. Asking them to do 50 story modes so that you could open 50 different dungeons is a completely different matter and that's what the fractal system basically has you do.
  7. Did you specify for "T2 dailies + recs" ? As unless you are playing at some unusual time, you should get a group. It will take longer to get a group for any other fractal level outside of dailies. Also if you are in a guild, as long as you have the AR you can jump straight to T4 matches (not that I recommend this), as your level only determines what you can actually open individually. That's what I meant by "being carried for 50 levels" is that you have to have guildmates open groups for you for 50 fractals until you can LFG for Tier 4's. I've looked for Tier 2 dailies and reccomended. and it was a little later in the evening but not that late, about 9-11pm eastern roughly, and no groups listed, and when I listed, I'd get 1 guy joining, we'd wait 15 min, another guy joined, waited longer, the first guy gave up and left group, waited longer, the second guy left.. and that was kind of all the patience I had for that. It doesn't help that my personal reward level is like 30. So I can't even open all the dailies and recommended for tier 2, so it's bad for me to start the group to begin with.
  8. I've tried, after an hour, I and only 2 people joined, I gave up.
  9. I rarely see T2 groups even advertised. That's the crux of the problem. T2 and 3 just seem dead.
  10. So I missed the first wave of fractal progression. I only bothered completing tier 1, just for 1 fractal weapon skin. Now, if I ever need clovers, people advice me to just do daily T4 fractals... but I can't even look for them in LFG, because my reward level is in tier 2, which is basically dead, and I hear Tier 3 is just as bad if not worse for people stuck there. I could invest the money to get enough AR if I wanted, if I felt like I'd actually get to a point of not having to have someone carry me to get me into T4 groups. But I'm either stuck in basically a dead zone trying to get through T2 and T3 when barely anyone runs them, or stuck asking people to let me into their P4 groups for 40+ fractals until I can just look for a t4 group on my own. What I fear is that people will offer to help, say yeah I'll help you progress into T4 reward levels, I'll invest the money to get my AR up to snuff, then they'll lose interest and we'll stop doing them, then I'm stuck again but poorer. This design mirrors that of level based landscape zones across most MMO's in general. At the start of the game everyone levels through the content somewhat together, it's easy to find groups for mid level group quests and dungeons but then when people are at level cap, you get this dynamic of very populated end game zones, somewhat populated new zones as new players join the game or people make alts, and nearly dead mid level zones as the people who start new don't all level at the same pace and so the population thins out, it becomes impossible to find groups for mid level group content, so most people just skip it and do solo quests until they're capped. That happens with fractal tiers too except that there is no solo content to bypass the mid level group content. You have to call your level capped friend to come escort you through the group quests. until you yourself are capped. That's a lot to ask of someone to do consistently.IMO, it should just be 2 tiers, 1-50, and 50-100. There's still progression and the players doing 100CM would still be able to be elitist and weed out noobs, but noobs wouldn't get stuck in mid level quagmires, I think without breaking it into tiers they'll be more likely to find groups and progress up. They'll be noobs up to 50, then hit 51 and be able to go into high level fractals if they have the AR, without begging for carries from guildmates for 50 fractals.I'm sure people will claim it's perfectly reasonable to expect someone to carry them for 50 fractals or claim they can find T2 and 3 groups on their own regularly, but that's not my experience if and when I look.
  11. That's true! Every line of dialogue between Ryland and Braham serves a purpose! Braham's young, he's gregarious, he's still high on life after killing Kralkatorrik. The celebration is a great opportunity to celebrate in lieu of a moot. He was an easy mark for Ryland. I like to think Ryland genuinely started to befriend Braham by the time he was ready to steal the bow -- they have a lot in common, after all -- but orders are orders, and Braham's not charr. We framed it the way we did so it didn't feel ominous or on the nose. It's one of those things we wanted people to notice in hindsight rather than in the moment. Ryland is really interested in that Jormag story... Yeah it was pretty easy to pick up that Ryland was using Braham somehow and it had to do with Jormag. But it also sets up Ryland to be a redeemable character that they were kind of being buddies, if it wasn't for the orders. It was also interesting to hear more candidly what Braham was up to while he was gone, rather than just the synopsis of "he made a guild tried to beat Jormag and failed"
  12. We were talking about this in Grothmar Valley map chat but i'd be unjust to not have it somewhere where Anet might actually see it:Metal Legion Drumkit CHAIR. Would be best with Drumming animations
  13. the same junk chests you can get outside of the vault, which is more salvage fodder this time blue and green. I don't think anything good CAN drop from them.
  14. Well technically Aurene is the Mascot, and now that she's gone Elder Dragon, it'll be Taimi since Taimi hasn't built another Golem after her last crisis. She'll at most be advising us over communicator, considering she may die at some point I don't ever expect her to be at our sides anymore. Gorrik's just not the combat type either. So the core is becoming Rytlock, Braham, Marjory, Kasmeer, and Canach when he's around.I really do think they decided to ship Rox off to the Olmakhan permanently and we'll only ever see her if the Olmakhan make a return, as kind of our Liason, like Logan being the Liason with the pact. Caithe I think is just gonna be done. Zojja HAS been done, hold a funeral for her already. You know come to think of it, are Kasmeer and Canach ever going to get elite specs? Rytlock straight up class changed to Revenant and went Herald, Braham became a Dragonhunter, and Marjory became a Reaper. Spellbreaker Canach? Kasmeer might stick to core mesmer with her time warp cooldown being so low.
  15. What? There's been 2 periods of time where Braham was unpopular and they wrote him better so people liked him again. When he was first introduced (both him and Rox suffered from this), and when Eir died and he went into an Emo phase and wouldn't join Dragon's Watch and had his own disastrous guild (which I guess was necessary to his character development but still he was annoying). In season 2 and starting midway through season 4 when he and the Commander come to be friends again he's been a really reliable team member, he and Rytlock have only really left the Commander's side once., even though they were kind of extended periods. None of the other Destiny's Edge members have been as reliable as Rytlock, and in Dragon's watch, the most reliable is Braham, Taimi's sidelined due to her condition, Marjory and Kasmeer come and go and them being together can result in them freezing up out of fear of losing each other (and Kasmeer had her faith crisis over Balthazar and Kormir). Canach comes and goes, and Rox has I think decided to just go. i think the writers struggled to make her interesting so she's gone.
  16. People just want to be offended so they can be outraged at something.
  17. I tried to do Effigy twice yesterday evening (PT zone). It failed both times. We did not have enough DPS to kill Effigy within the time limit. The real problem with that one is that people are dumb and either try to solo run the torch from brazier to brazier, or you have selfish sob's who want to get their pass the torch achievement done NOW rather than over the course of 10 events they need to do anyway, so they spam thrown torches right on top of the torch spawn so nobody can do 2nd leg of the relay. The timer does not reset once the effigy is active, so if you take up too much time on the relay race you're hosed. If your torch gets lit before you'd like you can just put it out with skill 3 . . . EDIT: and back on topic there are now TWO efficiency accounts that have unlocked one of the three skins. Still too early to tell but it is looking increasingly like this collection was poorly considered . . .still have the buff that prevents you from lighting torches for 15s
  18. I don't feel like I noticed it before recently, just trying to shoot camp NPC's and obstructed everywhere

  20. My Asura Holosmith that I only really use in wvw has found that rifle shots are getting obstructed on flat grounds at camps a lot lately, since the bound by blood update. Before that I never noticed an issue. Anyone else notice this? Any other Asura rifle users in particular notice this? I have to think that might be a factor.
  21. The bottom level reward definitely needs to be upped considering the time investment. 1 yellow unidentified gear piece for 2 hours. Once I'm done with the achievements on this map and bought the items from the map currency vendor that I want I'm done with this map and will likely never come back, no reason to.
  22. The thing is, swearwords depend on cultural environment very much and what sounds innocent for an english speaker may be far worse for someone from a different country. Those who speak more than one language might be more sensitive to various types of swearing as they've learnt to understand/use more than one type of it.Saying there are only "substitutes" is kinda misleading, because that's viewing foreign swear words without considering the culture.I was glad to hear sylvari use something different then the typical "thorns and brambles", which doesn't sound like a good swear to my ears because of the brambles. And probably the way they say it. Maybe the OP got very immersed and thus the swearing felt more real. (Or maybe not.) :) Immersed or not, if he got offended, he should grow thicker skin. I actually find it worse in fantasy settings if they DON'T have some sort of cursing or swearing (using their own words for it in their culture of course, they don't have to use our vulgar words but they should use THEIR vulgar words), and we should be able to grasp that what they said was considered vulgar in their world (wheel of time comes to mind where Mat would say "Blood and Ashes!" and Nynaeve would chastize him about his language), based on context of when those words and phrases are said.I suppose you could say they were an alien species that has no physiological need to use any kind of vulgarities to express negative emotions or react to pain or stress, but I think that'd be alien enough that you'd have more trouble relating to them. Lord of the Rings is a great book mind you, but the language can come across stiff, one of the reasons being that the characters are almost never informal much less vulgar in their language, with the exception of orcs. Which makes the entire book read as if it weren't an in person telling of a story happening right then, but rather a memoir of events recalled after the fact, which to be fair, was kind of what it was intended to be, a book that Bilbo, Frodo, and Sam wrote years after their adventures, obviously some of the grittier details would be left out of dialogue. Some people unfortunately get a bit uptight about swearing and claim there's never a time or place for such words. But there absolutely is, or at the very least, if you use substitution words your mind has to BELIEVE that they are taboo swear words so that you can use them and they relieve tension or pain I remember growing up, and at my daycare the babysitter's husband was a truck driver, and he'd be working on his truck in the garage and you'd hear clanging metal and bumps and bangs and a sudden shout of "Ahhhh HORSEFEATHERS!". He was told not to swear because of the children at the daycare.. but he used Horsefeathers in the same tone, context, intensity, and for the same purpose as he'd be using swear words. He still had a physiological need for language that his brain treated as if it was a curse.
  23. Well, that's like saying "I've only heard french substitutions of expletives when I was in France". Btw, anyone remembers Canach's "Mulch!" is LS4.1 (iirc)? Just to let you know that was somewhat indecent, considering sylvari biology... ;)And while at it - in 4.2 the Commander swears too. Mine's a sylvari, so I got the mulch again, but can someone tell me, what other race Commanders say there?I don't see the problem, every single culture that has ever existed has had words that are "taboo" and used as swears and curses and are used in the same context as the ones we know in english, to express anger, frustration, react to pain (swearing actually increases your pain tolerance), and otherwise use as coping mechanisms for stress. It'd be highly unrealistic for a culture to NOT have swear words and NOT use them.I was just saying I never heard any real world english swears that would hurt poor OP's over sensitive earsies.
  24. Our core is Rytlock, Braham, Kasmeer, and Marjory now that Taimi is taking a back seat, with Gorrik, Canach, and Sayida kinda guest starring. as an aside I'm really glad that Kasmeer and Marjory are separated from each other for this map. They become FAR more interesting characters alone than when together and they get all mushy. Marjory suddenly remembered she's supposed to be a hard boiled Film Noir Sleuth (which oftentimes gets completely forgotten if Kasmeer is at her hip), and Kasmeer is teaching and inspiring and helping you sneak into things with illusions. I'm really glad that Rytlock is sticking with you pretty solidly since Dragon Watch became a thing. Would be a shame to lose him.
