Oversight happens. But the issue the community has now is how is going about with the compensation. Like players who invested in leggy gear shouldn't have to invest again after it gets taken away from them. Players who put in the work should be given a leggy/relic rune set for free or equivalent to how much they actually have.

ANET ^^ THIS. "Significant progress" towards a new set isn't good enough. Players do not want to grind and invest on another leggy that does the same thing as one they already had that was taken away. Give these players a new leggy rune and relic out of the gate and give them the achievements corresponding to the first leggy and relic sets FOR FREE. If you cannot give them those free achievements create a new one that is for those who had lost their leggy runes that gives the same achievement value as those who grinded out the new leggy relic/rune sets.

Deadeye was overperforming because you essentially had access to two traits in the same tier of its trait line. Spectre support was broken they didn't even need to build concentration and had no trade offs in terms of damage. It was providing boons and still around the same amount of damage in all vipers. These changes were needed. I do agree though even the Alacrity Willbender philosophy threw me for a loop because other support classes have to also strike a target to give boons, but it's suddenly an issue when it comes to Guardians - typical Anet.

"Alacrity Willbender A big pain point with alacrity willbender is its inability to provide alacrity during phase transitions or other times where it can’t strike an enemy. We’re hoping to mitigate this by updating Phoenix Protocol to grant some alacrity on the activation of resolve, which can also be shared via Battle Presence. We’ve also cleaned up some aftercasts and made general improvements to animations for a few key damage skills with the goal of making the overall gameplay feel a bit more fluid." So let me get this straight. The balance team has a problem with Alacrity Willbender applying boons only when striking an enemy, but not with other support classes that require striking an enemy to provide boons like quickness warrior for example. Can you guys at least be consistent with your balance philosophy and give other classes the same white glove treatment you give Guardians on a daily? EDIT: Arc Divider still feels like pooo to use. The issue wasn't its damage. It's just a glorified Arcing Slice now. It was mentioned in the stream that this rework was made so that we would have more time to do other things. It's 3 hit cast time made it a great filler that was the other thing. Most of the skills in Warrior Greatsword are not worth using because they are either annoying to use or to weak in terms of damage. Improve those Greatsword skills either by improving damage or reworking 3 and 4 then remove the CD timer on Arc Divider so that players can at least use it more often to make up for the missing hits. Cuz believe it or not those three hard hitting spinning attacks from it prior iteration felt really REALLY GOOD.

Why did we fight the dragons?
HonesltlyX.7164 replied to babana.7521's topic in Secrets of the Obscure Discussion (Archived)
"Why did we fight the dragons?" Cuz if we didn't fight them then we would be dead. "Why didn't these mysterious people fight the dragons?" Idk for some mysterious reason that probably includes getting killed by the dragons. -
Should ANet ditch Jade Bot Jade Tech Protocols?
HonesltlyX.7164 replied to Mungrul.9358's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I don't do it often enough to remember, but thanks for the reminder. -
I feel like having more elite specs that do the same thing existing ones do won't really feel that great. For example, I main Warrior. Warrior has only one elite spec that can go condi. Across all 3 specs its power dps or power support. Having yet another elite spec that does power dps would be disappointing.

The best years of Guild Wars 2 are behind us
HonesltlyX.7164 replied to Anvar.5673's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I think it is a little too soon to say that the game is going downhill. Player numbers have been the best they ever been and Anet's new content deployment model just started with Gyala Delve. Whether this is good or bad for the game is too soon to tell. I say wait and see how SotO plays out then we can talk more about it.- 211 replies

Should ANet ditch Jade Bot Jade Tech Protocols?
HonesltlyX.7164 replied to Mungrul.9358's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I think the vitality increase with Jade Bot core is the only P2W thing we didn't need. I do not have an issue with Jade Bot protocols since you can't use them in instanced content anyways. No one cares if you are steam rolling open world content. It's nice buffs to have if you are soloing open world content and you don't have to use it if you don't want to. The only gripe I have is I have to keep collecting battery charges to do certain things in open world like lighting lanterns. It gets annoying when I find a lantern only to not have a charge to do it, then scramble to find a battery to get a charge, then check wiki again cuz now I forgot where I found it. -
I think you have one of two issues. 1.) It sounds like you do not like the rewards for what you do in GW2 in comparison to WoW - Where in WoW you get stronger gear every season and in GW2 you just get cool skins in endgame. Which is understandable. You want what you work for to actually be a beneficial investment in terms of gameplay rather than a superficial benefit in how your character looks. You can work towards legendary weapons or armor, but other than QoL and looks you won't see any improvements over ascended gear. 2.) Achievement goals are not clearly being shown to you - The game has TONS and TONS of different achievements and unless you know more or less what you are looking to do it's like finding a needle in a haystack. It's one of the things I think can be improved on in GW2. For example, adding an achievement section our quest panel letting us know that there are achieves that can be done there we click on it and it takes us directly to the respective achievement in the achievement panel. I think Blish HUB is a mod that can show you achievement's in your area as well as other stuff to do in real time.

why less stuff?
HonesltlyX.7164 replied to Balsa.3951's topic in Secrets of the Obscure Discussion (Archived)
Anet already communicated that they will release content in smaller bits months ago so that they can have time to address issues and do game patches. We are not going to get the magnitude of content that we got in the past. We have been told this already. The only other legendary armor in the game requires doing raids - which is hard to get into cuz of LFG shenanigans. Relics - never owned legendary runes never saw any reason to grind out all of that for a QoL thing when I can just buy runes for a negligible fraction of that. I think we got enough elite specs in the game. Adding more is just more for anet to manage with class balances, more for players to learn (who isn't really willing to learn), more for new players to be overwhelmed with. Skyscale - I got mine a long time ago. I like the new masteries adding more for my skyscale and griffon. It's cool they are giving it to new players. Unlocking weapons across all subclasses opens up a ton of new build options for theorycrafters to explore. Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to hype up this expac. But I'm happy to pay $25 for this content alone. -
Can you update silent surf so that it is a fractal?
HonesltlyX.7164 replied to Colin.4568's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
My only gripe with Surf is that the boss is obsurtly tanky. It's got plenty of mechanics to keep it interesting. It just becomes a drag after a certain point in the fight because it takes forever to kill him and we are constantly doing his numbers mechanic. -
How would you go about doing this survey? Just because you don't see people using a Skyscale doesn't mean that they do not have one. They may just not be using it for whatever reason at the time. You would need some sort of API that tells you this information in the population. But that is something for Anet to give access too.

Huh? This is quite a hot take. Complaining about LFG is one thing, but about raids/strikes is different entirely. They exist because people play them. How are these game modes killing the game? This is a first that I am hearing about sellers in group content trying to sell stuff. I have never seen anyone do this in a 10 man squad strike/raid squad. More people do this in trading hubs where there are way more people. Where are you playing that you are seeing this? What server/timezone? How is a new gamemode going to solve this problem? Those same people will just run to the next available group content. You have the ability to block people in-game. Use it.
