  1. I haven't tried herald yet myself, but I got a renegade condi one going on my revenant. Been good fun as well. As for more engi stuff, you seem to have a lot of choices for your supporting skills by the main ones are always a mystery to me. You can beef up turrets , elixirs, explosions, kits, make gyros turn you into a speedfreak, sure... But then what goes in the mainhand?... I guess the choices there are so limited with pistol/pistol, pistol/shield and rifle that you use kits to get more synergy with traits. So grenades seem like the go-to choice, perhaps mortar?... Don't really know where wrench fits in at all, but I know bomb kit is mostly for swapping in and out for some skills. Hammer and sword seem okay for scrapper and holo, but also a shame they're tied to elites. Hopefully the EoD spec will add something fresh but I really wish you had 1-2 more weapon choices for core cause it really feels a little lacking.
  2. Heyooo, After having a good look around it does seem that many people do feel that engineer has some big problems, usually coming from the fact that they have very little weapon choices and the use of kits and certain talents seems heavily encouraged. This is to the point that experimenting around and straying to far from whats considered a must have leads to mixed results. So here's the plan, why not compile a list of your craziest and most importantly fun builds? Encourage everyone to try something different and maybe find some inspiration to switch things up. Personally I love swapping things around and seeing what talents go together nicely to create odd synergies, which may not be optimal, but enjoyable for sure in their own way. When I played back in the day I used to literally run around with my wrench out and go all out turrets, living my tf2 engineer dream to the fullest. Nowadays, more sillyness. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PegAIRlRwgYNMHWKO0XdtWA-zRIURU1DA-e Mortar Kit fire support for example, wonder if you could run that using holosmith instead of scrapper. Could be fun cause of the strike damage increase based on heat level?
  3. Oddly enough, years later this still seems to be a thing. One bright left eye and one darker right eye using the white or soft pink eye options on my male asura. It's sort of charming but I'd rather you'd have the option for proper Heterochromia than having some customization options seemingly bugging out. From all I could gather some people say it may be related to changing the default iris size of a character but cannot confirm that right now.
  4. Are they re-running season 5 as well? I still don't know if that's the case.. would thank anyone for confirmation. If so you could get S3 and the start of S4 for about 17~ pounds while getting the remaining episodes of 4 and all of 5 for free if you started now. That would give you access to all mastery paths and all zones they added outside of expansion content. S2 was only story and probably the one you'd miss the least I reckon, that's a pretty alright deal to me. Again going with what people said though, if you join in late, you might feel less inclined to do so cause that easily becomes double on top of having to purchase the expansions themselves.
  5. Do we know if they are going to re-run the entirety of the ice brood saga as well once the re-run of season 4 is done?... Not sure if there's been any official word on that, but if so that makes buying the remaining chapters not as huge of an investment if I intend on getting them all eventually. I'd love to be able to not nag and don't want to seem ungrateful trust me. I do very much think they deserve the support considering its not got a monthly sub but... I'm running on roughly 13+ year old hardware thats held together by tape and can barely afford living on basics at the moment. So I want to make sure that whatever I don't end up paying more than I have to.
  6. Can only agree. First day of coming back and making my revenant I had the luck of having a mentor stand in the charr starting zone who was super chill and I ended up casually chatting with for a solid 30+ minutes or so. Most people i've come across been really nice, a few people in spvp aside but thats pvp overall. Competition usually has people try to flex on each other.
  7. I wasn't even aware that the skyscale was a part of LW until you pointed it out cause it does seem to let everyone who has one explore areas and reach points with absolute ease compared to people without it. It not being obtainable without a specific LW chapter seems a little weird. GW2 has some incredible highs and when it works its a complete blast, but it does also have some rougher edges and a lot of things go unexplained as has been pointed out in other threads on the forums I've read. So I agree on the fact that, I don't think it would be nearly as welcoming to newer players cause I can see a lot of people running into systems/mechanics or design choices they don't understand and getting frustrated. A rise in popularity would prompt more videos and could lead to people getting a negative impression of what's essentially a pretty diverse and really fun game that simply falls short in some areas of making it a more cohesive experience.
  8. Thanks again for the clarification. Something to nab later perhaps then for me as I am very interested in all the new zones they added in the later seasons and would like more content to that helps work towards the expansion mastery tracks instead. Really grateful to get some help and feedback on this, makes deciding a bunch easier.
  9. The thing that currently attracts so many people to FF14 is the continuity of the story cause by playing through it in order you get attached to the setting and characters a lot more cause you get to see them develop. I do like what's there but as a returning players who's missed a bunch and wasn't aware of the giveaways when they started I do have to pay a fair bit extra to get what I feel is the proper experience. It recaps you on LS1 which I played back in the day, but not all of it, so seeing the finale and how it shaped the world was cool. I did miss out on LS2 and only know snippets but get how it ties into HoT, then I played the intro to PoF to get the mount and who you even fight against despite dialogue stating you've seen them before you don't directly get. I imagine due to LS4 and 5/Icebrood being before end of dragons, there'd be another huge gap for anyone joining prior or during its release which as people pointed out is going to get worse over time. I feel the story and writing is severely weakened when player investment isnt high enough due to missing out on those moments that do have impact on how major lore characters or the world change or events that set up villains because you're missing what makes the fight so important. As a silly example, imagine watching the third lord of the rings movie without having watched the first 2. The fights are still cool and you see the characters perform some impressive stuff, but it doesn't feel as big because you did not get to experience how long and hard of a journey it took to even get there.
  10. Ah they're re-running LS5 as well after 4 is done? I'd only have to get the first 2 chapters of 4 I missed and the bundle for ls3 then in that case which isnt so bad if thats the case. Unless people recommend getting ls2 as well if it has anything cool or exclusive you get from there or the story leading up to HoT is super good.
  11. Just about all of it honestly. I played LS1 back then after which I took a long break just until recently. LS2 is only story and I played the finale of it cause i think its free, not sure if the rest is exciting. But having new areas to explore in Ls3 , 4 and 5 seems neat so if the story to accompany those is good I'd love to try em. Also the fact 5 seems to have its own masteries and 3 and 4 both tie into HoT and PoF mastery gain seems decent.
  12. Only thing making me want to use the cash shop is catching up on the earlier living world seasons I've missed. So while its a fair bit of money, considering there's no monthly sub im debating buying the end of dragons edition with the gems to buy those in one go, minus the currently re-running one to save some gems. Are the zones and story bits pretty decent or whats the general opinion on those?
  13. Female Charr Revenant has been the best choice I made yet, especially with my renegade build. Super happy how it turned out. My shirtless Hammer wielding Norn Warrior Slamicus Jamicus (may he rest in peace) I made for spvp back then felt fitting too. Always torn on Asura or Charr for engineer cause both fit but I find it so hard to find really nice looking medium armor, its a pain sometimes.
  14. Revenant set is done, renegade maxed.. got my thief and mesmer on 80 and gucci. Been debating what to tackle next and looked up some builds for inspiration but I am terrible at making decisions haha. Power dragonhunter for burst fun, Soulbeast perhaps?... I am also perplexed how so little people seemingly play engineer. Holosmith and scrapper both seem like decent elite specs on top of a super versatile base kit.
