I roam with 30 characters, 27 for dedicated elite specialisations and 3 core ( at some point I will get to 9 core, making 36 in all).
The performance of each varies greatly and is not just dependent on the strength of the individual builds but also how well I play them and how much I enjoy playing them.
All the above points made by others are valid.
Playing a strong build, playing it well and enjoying playing it = BiS
Whatever I am roaming with, the majority of my deaths are dealt by willbenders, then thieves (all specs and core), then harbingers/virtuosos.
Make of that what you will, but willbenders are overperforming for minimal effort and the ability to reset combat via stealth is always handy.

A nerf to Cele wont fix anything.
WBs are intentionally OP and anet plainly refuses to nerf them.
On the top of that is the widespread use of macros and hack tools.
Nothing will change.

I'm in Skrittsburgh EU Tier 1 and it's DEAD after midnight until dawn.
AlGoRiThM has decided everyone has to go to bed early on our side whilst the other two sides ppt all night long.
They are still losing in points and k/d but I can't play in my usual time slot anymore.
When our side is awake, it's Qs on all 4 maps...
Pathetic doesn't even begin to describe it.

My feedback so far:
I miss my old server, it felt like a community within the game.
What we have instead is a weak unworkable half-baked idea with an unwelcome discord tie-in.
You had 12 years to add voice channels into the game and you didn't bother.
Improve the game rather than trying to sub-contract functionality.
Fix the exploits and remove the backdoor that allows hacking tools to function.
Fix the gate collision (why doesn't the gate fill the gateway?) rather than gimping warclaw jump to less than an asura can jump.
Break up the band that "develops" wvw, they're going nowhere and will never have a hit.

The old warclaw jump height with a well timed dash could jump 95% of gates in wvw.
It's the worst kept secret for entering objectives without siege/thief.
It's taken them years but they have finally nerfed it.

Tried Ele and Guardian Spears today to see what the complaints were about.
Ele Spear is just over-the-top over-scaled special effects obfuscating mediocre low-damage mostly-useless skills.
I do better with Ele staff.
I did like Guardian Spear though, not as showy and suits Firebrand well.

Mesmer doesn't get any poison beyond a possible condition from Chaos Storm and Lesser Chaos Storm.
So beyond whatever Runes and Sigils you have, poison will be hard to apply consistently to make it worth using.
My personal build is Untamed Ranger as it has loads of Skills and Traits and Abilities (pet and untamed) that apply poison constantly.
I use Rune of Thorns, Sigil of Doom x 2 and Sigil of Venom x 2 along with the Demon Queen Relic.
This ensures that everything I do applies poison and denies 50% of heals.
Boonballs wither and Tanks run away.
(Then some thief ganks me)

Like the OP, I tend not to join squads most of the time but I still like to give concise scouting reports for the map I am in as a simple courtesy.
But unlike the OP, I do not come to the forums and call people lazy and somehow morally bankrupt if they expect something like shared participation as a reward for doing so.
However, sometimes I have come across commanders who constantly spam chat with scout demands.
I have taken umbrage at this and typed "I am happy to give you scouting reports in return for shared participation".
Do you know how many times a needy commander has taken me up on the offer?
Zero.
Commanders feel they are entitled to free scouting reports all day long.
Aren't they the lazy ones who expect a reward for doing nothing?

NA does not have different language servers and does not link those servers so that half of them cannot communicate easily with the other half.
